The Show Must Go On

Great song, I guess we all agree. There are though two things that bother me. The synth intro is very haunting, but is starting to sound terribly outdated :-( Do you think that the song would work with a guitar intro (same melody). The ending of the song also sounds bad in my opinion. Any ideas to improve that? Are there any fan mixers who would eb interested to replace the parts I mentioned and make a TSMGO 2004 mix? |

I remember at school deciding to 'improve' my copy of 'Twelfth Night' by Bill Shakespeare by deleting the bits I didn't like with Tippex. It would have been easier burning the fucker. |

I don't hear anything wrong with the intro. Although it does sound a bit haunting, it doesn't seem to be outdated at all. Maybe other Queenzoners could accept or dismiss your findings. But I disagree. |

U have to admit it was perfect for the time. I love it, but a different 'instrument; may have been better- id like to piano for freddie :) |

As far as I'm concerned, The song is absolutely perfect as is. *It IS my all time favorite song (tied with These Are The Days...) after all! |
| Matti 31.07.2004 20:28 |
I agree with Dan. Perfect. |
| tomnever 31.07.2004 20:31 |
Perfect for me. And as strange as it could seems, any Queen song sounds outdated. Even Hot Space ones. |

I've always liked the intro. It's haunting, but sets the stage perfectly for the rest of the song. |

Yeah, so what's your point? I don't get why people want to change the past. That's the way the song was made. You wont go back and fuck around with the masters of "imagine" because part of it might sound "dated". Just leave it be. It's a great song anyway. |
| Sebastian 01.08.2004 01:11 |
The thing is that the synth-hook of 'Show' is not only in the intro, it's in 80% of the song (everything except the "butterflies" section). |
| Whisperer 01.08.2004 03:40 |
TSMGO is my favourite song too. In my opinion very many Queen songs sound timeless. That's why I thought it would be great update TSMGO a little and make it "immortal". It's a fabulous song! |
| Whisperer 01.08.2004 03:41 |
Yes Sebastian, but it isn't heard so clearly when the song starts. |

The good Dan. ;) wrote: As far as I'm concerned, The song is absolutely perfect as is. *It IS my all time favorite song (tied with These Are The Days...) after all!Totally agreed Dan :) think TATDOOL just pips it at the post for my fav Queen song |

I re-recorded Imagine. John Lennon came back to life and ate my skull. Send brains to 'Brain Dude, Australia' and I'll send you a receipt in the mail. Or a lava lamp. |

There isn't much outdated about Queen music, and the intro to TSMGO isnt outdated. And the end isnt that bad either, although i would have ended it differant. The worst endings on songs come from Guns n' Roses. The ends of Since I Dont Have you and Dont Cry are particulary annoying in my opinion. |

Lord Blackadder wrote: I Dont Have you and Dont Cry are particulary annoying in my opinion.Amen on the "Don't Cry" comment. Rubbish end to a decent song. |

Great song, great song. Doesn't need any tweaking, but any change to the intro I would suggest is replace the keyboard with a full orchestra, champagne, caviar, and crackers. |

"The worst endings on songs come from Guns n' Roses. The ends of Since I Dont Have you and Dont Cry are particulary annoying in my opinion." The ending of Don't Cry bothers me very much and I'll tell you why: that extended note. Does he really hold the note for that long or is it on a loop? |
| Daburcor? 01.08.2004 16:03 |
Well, Of COURSE there would have to be crackers! ;) |

I guess that there is no problem with the song. I don't like when they do a new mix of a song. In my opinion they can't make a better version than the original. About Guns'n'Roses I guess you're right. They are great songs but the end is annoying. But they are great songs. Ilove them. I love Guns'n'Roses. |
| KillerQueen840 01.08.2004 21:29 |
I think that it's a great song... |
| bolan 02.08.2004 09:35 |
If the case is about the synth intro is true (which it isn't - it is great) i suppose the intro 2 one vision is outdated too! The whole song is simply perfect - and my mum loves it! |
| Adam Baboolal 02.08.2004 10:43 |
I wouldn't change a thing about the song. I love it as it is. I've never felt that it sounded outdated. Never entered my mind. Now, if we were talking about some Miracle songs, I might agree. Peace, Adam. |

I totally agree that a lot of queens music sounds outdated nowadays. For example the whole live at wembley stadium dvd. If you go to any major rock concert nowadays it's ten times more modern. But by the time it was the standerd level. Queen were always a band to explore new studio things to make their records sound modern. But The whole point I am trying to make is that there hasn't been a new proper studio album since Made in Heaven, which was almost a DECADE ago, if you listen to the music the guys made in their first decade a lot has become more modern each album and so I think it's a normal proces for a band who stays on top that long. I love the intro from TSMGO but I think it's really sad that we never had the change to hear a modern queen, with a modern Freddie. cause the rock music of today is also very cool. |
