Well, since i didnt think this wouldve gone with the Queen section, or afraid people would laugh at me, when Vanilla Ice sampled Queen's beat for Under Pressure, did he get sued? I knew he sampled it the first time I heard it, but never knew if he got sued? And if he didn't get sued, that dirty bastard...!
ta-ta
I think there was some payment involved to Queen Productions or Hollywood Records.....after a legal battle. I may be wrong though. I think this would be fine in the Queen section!
I have an interview with Brian where he talks about this (thanks Miss J!)... I'll see if I can't record it onto my computer and share it on my site sometime in the near future.
LOL! I will try to have it done by the end of the coming week. It really is a great interview! It's a US radio interview from just around the time Innuendo was released, He talks about touring, Ice Ice Baby, etc.
He got sued with Queen and Bowie recieving the proper royalties and writing credits on future releases.
Brian has said that it was done by Hollywood Records to protect their then-new investment in the band.
I think Roger said on Rockline in 1991:
"We're gonna sue his white ass" And they did. Ending up getting the royalties.
Ice's people said that he changed the song enough to call it his own...can you believe that?? haha.
Yo Ice...word to YOUR mother.
