As young people are supposed to be getting into Queen's music i was just thinking how many people in here are aged 16 and under? i'm 16 myselg and have been a fan since i can remember
Good on yer mate. I became a fan at 9! Which my mates thought was weird. That was back in 1987 so I still had a couple of releases to look forward to, although no touring. The best thing you can do now is listen to the music and appreciate what a good band Queen were. I got into Queen through a cousin of mine who was 11! Queen still keep pulling in the young fans even after all these years, mainly because I think that so many of todays bands note Queen as an influence.
I've been a fan since 10, because I saw Queen on the TV in Live at Wembly '86. He, Freddie, just put so much energy in his shows, it was so fascinating.
ta-ta
I'm 16, and I'm the first to admit that I haven't been a *big* fan for more than a couple of years, but they were always a band that I listened to. When I happened to listen to ANATO I was drawn to the songs that I didn't recognise- Death on Two Legs, Seaside Rendez-vous- and started listening to them more. Now I don't really listen to "popular" music much because the difference between decent older music (Queen, Beatles, Smokie, Hollies, etc etc etc) and music that is around today, is massive. There isn't really any comparison.
Some older fans (my dads friends, for example) don't seem to take me seriously as a Queen fan because I'm so much younger than them, which is a shame. I'm sad that I wasn't around when they were at the height of the fame, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy their music now. I think they're also put off by the fact that I've only been a fan for two or three years. I guess that's my fault- I never noticed how good they were beforehand, which is a big pity.
i got into Queen when i was trying to look for a video in the cupboard when i was about 4 and i came across a cd and played it coz it was the first cd i had really seen and the cd was wembley '86, and that was 12 years ago, that cd has now been played hundreds of times by me and I still love it. Now though i'm trying to build my collection, i've got 4 albums and 5 video's of Queen in concert
I discovered Queen when a mate from school gave me a copy of Greatest Hits (on cassette!!!) This was August 1986 and I was 11!!! So I was waiting for The Miracle and Innuendo when they came out.
I actually worked at Woolworths in 1991 and the supervisor let me and my mate have a copy on the Saturday night before the official release. Fantastic!!! Those days waiting for those albums to come out were excellent. Strangely enough, I don't remember the same feelings in 1995 for MIH. I was at university, and my Queen fanatism waned a bit in that period (making up for it now!!).
But I'll never get over the fact that at the time I discovered them, they were probably doing their final ever gig(s)!!!
I'm 16 too and have only been a really big Queen fan for a year and nineteen days (but who's counting). I actually stumbled across Queen accidentally one day when I was listening to WRTC on their Greatest Hits and just kept on listening to the other tracks. I was amazed at how many of their songs I had heard before and never recognized as theirs. I have been listening to Queen ever since.
I only got into Queen because of my mom, who was a casual fan at the time of The Game being huge. I was getting annoyed with all the popular music that was on the radio, so I asked her what she listened to. She told me about Don't Try Suicide, so I listened to that, and then Killer Queen, and loved them both. So for Christmas, I got the Platinum Collection, and then, the Crown Jewels boxset from my uncle. And now, whenever she says I'm obsessed with Queen, I can blame it on her!

You should've been around for the bootleg tree. Though, Being so young, Your parents may not have let you participate anyhow. :P
I'm a fan! I'm 16 i was a fan for almost a year now i know i know...idk really how it all came about. I know i remember hearing like WWRY and WATC and i just told my mom to get me a Queen Cd for Christmas. It was Queen Greatest Hits cd and my love for Queen has been growing since. I know it was Freddie that drew me into Queen alot. I also saw him on VH1 and i just had to learn more about him which led to learning about Queen.
I've always been a Queen fan...'cos my mum had greatest hits I and II so I would listen to them ever since I could remember. I'm now 13 but my major obsession with Queen started around when I was 11 and as time passed I have just became more and more obsessed with them.
Yeah, Im 15 an i first got into Queen when I was 13 coz i borrowed a CD from mi local library and was totally in love with it and instead of buying Platinum collection I bought all the separate greatest hits so i could say i had loads of CDs now. They're great! - as u all well know
