There has been a HELL of a lot of 'newbies' coming on here! Is this the beginning of a new 'Queenmania' phase or is someone just taking the piss?? Cos the topics seem to be quite crap too! Oh yeah, and I got GH3 on vinyl today, its quite nice :) |
QueenZeppelin 28.07.2004 13:15 |
Perhaps both. I know at my high school there are a lot of people who listen to Queen through the Greatest Hits 1-2 box collection. As for taking the piss, I know for myself I try to read up as much as I can on something before I post subjects on a message board about it. One would hope that a newbie wondering the meaning behind Bohemian Rhapsody (the meaning of which, by the way, was readily evident to me when I first listened to it) would search around on the boards to find the answer first before making a whole new subject devoted to it. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 28.07.2004 13:18 |
You see, you sound quite 'normal' for a newbie! Im not picking out names, topics or thickasfuckness, but even some older users of this board are posting wank topics at the moment cos they seem to be in fashion! |
queenrocks! 10902 28.07.2004 13:28 |
I appreciate newbies for joining this site they might regret it though in about two years! The word 'newbie' should be in the next edition of the Oxford English Dictionary! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 28.07.2004 13:31 |
There's been a wave of people getting into classic rock lately, so that could be the reason. But once you get one stupid topic, you have more that follow. It's the domino effect. |
Rien 28.07.2004 13:52 |
Perhaps they've all seen the musical? :-) |
deleted user 28.07.2004 14:07 |
I think you are all being abit harsh..... Just because you know the answer to a queen question it dosent mean everyone else does especialy a new fan..... you should be happy to help new fans learn about queen..... Not be Unwelcoming. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 28.07.2004 14:26 |
I do not think im being harsh in the slightest! Im not a Queen 'boffin', I just love their music. If ever I needed info then Id look it up, instead of posting useless rubbish on here! We all need info, and share opinions! Its just that some people are more intelligent than others! |
deleted user 28.07.2004 14:33 |
yes but if someone whats to know a question and they post it on the bored its not long before it gets pushed down the botten anyway.! its alot quicker to find the answer to a question here than it would be to search the net... dats what i think anyway....does it really make a diffrance to you if somine posts a question.... Know one makes you read it. |

its may be (as someone else mentioned in another topic)the result of summer holidays. bored kids... with nothing to do. |

"Perhaps they've all seen the musical? :-) " If they seen the musical wouldn't they stay away from Queenzone? :-S |

Cos the topics seem to be quite crap too!I guess I'm a "newbie" even though I've been visiting this site for a while. However, I only joined today. Despite the fact that I am a new fan of Queen (I'm 16 and I have liked them for a while but have only become really interested in the past couple of years) I hope I have a reasonable amount of knowledge on Queen. I will try desperately hard not to ask "silly questions" - even though I only joined today, I have read some of the topics that you are talking about and I can see what you mean. Younger people are starting to get into Queen music- as someone said earlier, compared to the kind of music that is around these days, it is a welcome change. :-) Oh, and, uh, hi. Emma |

I know a lot of people have loved it forever, but there have been a lot of people getting into the music lately, but whether it's because they actually like it or because it's trendy, I don't know. There was an article online a few months ago, but I can't for the life of me remember where it came from. It's either that or all the rap that's so huge here now. |

I lurk more than I post cause I only speak when I have something to say. And I'm not really that much of a newbie either. And I know I've posted more than four times cause the board has been acting up and Richard is fixing it and making it better. I do think that more and more ppl are getting attracted to Queen or getting into them again. And why not? They are a great band and why shouldn't they get more fans all the time. The Beatles are getting more fans all the time so why shouldn't Queen? |
the oppositionist 28.07.2004 19:16 |
I sorta welcome newbies wholeheartedly because i think of queen now more as a label to sell. (as brian seems to!) The more that come in and spread the word, the more the music will live on and spread. we all say things and ask things at the beginning that seem trivial, id love to look up pims early posts :D but like mrs badguy said, its all good really. we just need patience! |

I'm not talking about anybody on these boards; I know everyone on here is here because they love the music, not because it's 'popular' or whatever. I'm just talking about people I know who wear Led Zeppelin shirts and can't even tell you more than three songs by them. |
LiarLiar 28.07.2004 23:18 |
I'm a fan of Queen since I was 15 years old (back 1992) and a queenzoner since last year. Yet this just is my third post; I prefer to be behind the scene (in part because I am so busy with muy graduate studies), because just a small percentage of the posted topics are REALLY worth of attention. If people want to CHAT just go to the chat room and don't chat in the TOPICS forum, if you want to debate, learn and follow an interesting thread, please do it here. |

Doesn't everybody have to start off as a newbie anyways? I mean I'm sure you did B_M_W. And some just enjoyed the sight for a while but never really became a member |

if the ppl in parts of the US haven't noticed already....the 80s are coming back like fire...it's like a big wave of big hair and ripped jeans...and Queen!! |

Um...yes,Hi, well, I was just reading these, and well, I've liked Queen for a couple of years now. And I was in 6th grade when i first started to like them, and nobody ever heard of Queen there. But they knew all their songs. I didnt know who wrote We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, and Bohemian Rhapsody till then. I didnt even listen to the words. I was so foolish back then...And then I got my friend Stella to like them, and then EVERYBODY started to like them. I was enjoying it until some posers out there was saying all this crap about Freddie Mercury and stuff, so, thats when it became...er....complicated? Well, anyway, I love Queen and their music, and if new people do, welcome them. I was quite nervous when I picked up my first Queen CD, Classic Queen, but after that, I fell in love. I welcome anybody else who comes here and hope to be welcomed by the rest of you. Um...well, bye. |

Oh, Yeah, and I'm just 13 too, and I was like...10 when my mom and my brothers were watching Queen Live at Wembly '86, and I was watching it, and I loved it, and I asked my mom if he(Freddie Mercury) was still alive, and she said he died of AIDS, and i asked how old he was, cause i thought she said age, but nevermind. then when my friend came over, we jumped on the trampoline, and i couldnt get Radio Ga Ga out of my head. That was the beginning. My mom loved Queen, and still does. She said she actually went to some of their concerts in the 70's, and i was surprised when Queen came to our town, Indy, cause i thought we were just another hick town with corn. but nevermind. The music today isnt music at all. Britany Spears and others just care about their image instead of the music. They have the computers make the music. its sick. Freddie Mercury( also Larry Lurex) is the King of Queen.May he rock in peace! Ta-Ta |

The first time I heard about Queen was when I was just 6... I was searching my mom, and I found her in his bedroom. She and my dad were watching a funny video with a very ugly woman who has a big and black moustache. So I asked "what is it?". So they explanated that they were watching a videotape(Queen Greatest Flix II) with videos of a band called Queen(my mom's favorite band), so they invite me to watch it too. I liked it, so they gave me some old cassetes, they bought the cds and didn't need the cassetes. So I began to listen to the tapes in my walkman. Now I'm a Queen fan(atic) and I just like rock, and hate all kind of "musical junk", specially cheap comercial pop... Queen are the gods of the rock! Elvis is the kind(I don't like him really much, but that's ok...) Avril is the princess. Britney, shut up and go away, your songs ain't no music at all! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 29.07.2004 15:57 |
I don't really like Avril or Britney, but I doubt that Avril would be the princess of rock, especially not with all the other women in rock that actually paved the way for her. |

I thought it was the usual holiday season flock of tourists that arrived here over the last month. Other than the same old same old same old Bo Rhap Bo Rhap Bo Rhap questions etc etc etc I see that they now have a new problem, posting personal (random) stuff in the Queen-section. p.s. when are schoolholidays over? |
