Lets build up our expectations. What exactly do you look most forward to see on this DVD? For me it must be to compare the picture and sound quality to the Wembley how. Will it be better, worse or maybe the same? And of course the concert itself, but that is obvious. I dont know anything about the extras that might be on it. Maybe the interview before the concert? |
Fenderek 27.07.2004 08:49 |
I hope there won't be any DoRo document on it... |
Brian_Mays_Wig 27.07.2004 08:56 |
It will just be nice to see the whole gig rather than the Tyne Tees edit. |
Jjeroen 27.07.2004 08:56 |
Since a lot of us already have the gig (most not in it's entirety though) and the interviews, I'm looking formward most to the extra's. Also, after the teaser on GVHII we can all be assured that both image and sound are simply stunning! No idea what is possible to expect of extra's but I have some things that would be nice if Queen Prods have them, that is... -Soundcheck (I seem to remember parts have been filmed to try out the camera's and sound etc for the actual recording, as with the first wembley gig) -Parts or snippets from other Hot Space shows (we KNOW there are several (parts of) gigs filmed! This is the ideal package to put that stuff on. If they don't I'm sure any chance of an official release of that stuff is absolutely out of the question. Besides: no need for them to bother about the possible bad quality of the tape, as with the wembley rehearsals -the interviews and backstage-footage in full (or at least more of it then when we already have seen) -Hmmm, some multi-angles again if possible?? But please QP, do surprise us with stuff we don't even dream of yet, as with Wembley! |

I agree on the comment about DoRo. They are so cheap! |

They could put all those tracks from that era which otherwise wouldn't be released, like "Body Language" or "Calling all Girls"... "Since a lot of us already have the gig (most not in it's entirety though)" Does anyone have it in its entirety...? |

>What exactly do you look most forward to see on this DVD? The part where Freddie steals Jim Beach's cap and go onstage with it ;-) |
YourValentine 27.07.2004 09:55 |
Most of all the whole concert in good quality and surroud sound. Anything else are welcome extras but the concert is the part I'll be watching over again. Btw, Jeroen: I hear you'll be in Benidorm to see the 46664 Latino concert. I hope we'll meet for a Diet Coke for me/beer for you. |
Sebastian 27.07.2004 10:20 |
I really wish that if they put multi-angle stuff they do it with other songs than Under Pressure, Now I'm Here and Champions. Staying Power would be great with a John camera, just following his guitar playing. |
Jjeroen 27.07.2004 10:24 |
Hey YV... Well, I didn't say I WILL be there. I did say I am planning on going there. But every day the date comes closer there are more bumps in the road it seems... Right now I am having serious trouble at work over it. I'm scheduled to do the weekendshift that weekend (I get that every six or seven weeks. Hey SOMEBODY has to write monday's newspaper ;-) I need to find someone to switch weekends with, but problem is that no-one likes to do these shifts (can't blame them). Normally there will always be a collegue to be found to trade with, but it is very difficult now that most of them are on holiday! :-( Anyway... I still have hopes but I'm not betting any money on it anymore. DAMNED!!! (p.s.: I haven't told Leonardo yet...;-) |
John S Stuart 27.07.2004 10:56 |
I agree with all of the above - especially YV's views - all I can do is re-emphisise her desire for the FULL unedited concert footage. Contrary to popular belief, (Outside TTTV), I do not think a complete video version exists, but, Like many fans, I have the uncut audio bootleg, so the release of a proper DVD soundtrack, should mean that Queen can yet again deliver a quick kick in the yarbals to those who peddle such merchandise on e-bay. Any other extras or easter eggs would be a bonus. BTW: Original TV adverts memory appeal! I seem to recall that when the show was originally broadcast on C4 (UK) as a "Tube" Special, TV inserts (commercials/promo spots) were brodcast between programmes (about a week before the broadcast) to advertise the show. I seem to recall one featuring Jools Holland and the late Paula Yates, and another with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. True - or false memory syndrome? |
The Real Wizard 27.07.2004 20:00 |
Surely it will be great to see footage of Back Chat. Also, there is the bit of Las Palabras, and Brian's cord falling out during his Brighton Rock solo. If either of these two latter things are cut, then it's not the complete show as promised. |
rhapsody__87 27.07.2004 21:17 |
Being that I'm not a Milton Keynes expert (yet), when in the concert did they play Las Palabras? I thought that was one of the Queen songs that was never performed live (and the Freddie Tribute doesn't really count). |
Gunpowder Gelatine 27.07.2004 21:28 |
If I'm remembering right, Las Palabras De Amor was just played as the intro to Love Of My Life. |
Another Roger (re) 28.07.2004 05:49 |
Also I think the intro of the show is AMAZING. The build up with Flash Gordon. Then Brian runs onto stage playing the chords of The Hero. Wonderful! Cant wait to have that in great picture and sound. |
Mr. Scully 28.07.2004 06:06 |
Staying Power on GVH2 looked pretty good. If the DVD includes the uncut gig in such a quality and with multi-angles as bonus, I'll be a happy bunny. |
lovequeen 28.07.2004 06:47 |
I've obviously missed quite a lot while I was away from this board. When is Milton Keynes due to release on DVD? Christmas 2004? I'm as happy as can be for this release, as I've only seen those few songs that were as extras on GVH2, and never anything else from this concert. The Finnish television doesn't appreciate Queen enough to show their concerts (exept for Wembley 86 and Hammersmith 74, but those were cut almost in half, and those are quite easy to get your hands on anyway). As for the extras, I agree with the DoRo comment, enough is enough! Anything else, backstage stuff, rehearsals, sound checks, interviews etc. Yes please! |
Mr. Scully 28.07.2004 07:10 |
"The Finnish television doesn't appreciate Queen enough to show their concerts (exept for Wembley 86 and Hammersmith 74, but those were cut almost in half" Wasn't actually the Finnish TV the first station to broadcast the newly remastered Hammersmith Odeon 1975 footage? Besides that, it missed only the intro and encore. And as far as I know, the encore (SSOR, Fool) wasn't part of the original Old Grey Whistle Test broadcast anyway. |
Jjeroen 28.07.2004 07:47 |
Yep, is right! The original broadcast did have the intro and ended with the RnR medley. |
lovequeen 28.07.2004 08:02 |
Well, I believe I've taped the few and every programme about Queen that the Finnish television has broadcasted in the past 6-7 years or so.. I've got the Hammersmith Odeon concert twice (and they're exactly the same versions), it does have the R'n'R medley included, but when Colin sent me the full track listing, many songs were missing from the version I've got taped.. and it's about 30 minutes shorter than what he had. And the Wembley concert that they showed some years back was just a bit over an hour long, so that was cut too.. e.g. all the R'n'R classics were missing 'due to copyrights' and some Queen's own songs were missing too. I just remembered, they did broadcast the Champions of the World documentary in 1995 when it was released, but that too was just a half of the real lenght, less than one hour. When I get home from work this evening, I'll look up and check these for you. |
Mr. Scully 28.07.2004 10:03 |
I have both the original video and the Finnish broadcast and I can assure you the Finnish broadcasted version misses only Bob Harris intro, first few seconds of Now I'm Here (due to damaged tape or something) and one of the encores. So it's only a couple of minutes shorter than the original version I think. |

<And the Wembley concert that they showed some years back was just a bit over an hour long, so that was cut too.. e.g. all the R'n'R classics were missing 'due to copyrights' and some Queen's own songs were missing too.> How can that be ? Queen own the recordings. Copyright-wise there shouldn't be any difference between the Wembley-versions of Radio Ga Ga and Tutti Frutti, for instance. And the shortened versions aren't a specific shortcoming of Finnish television. |

Mr. Scully wrote: Wasn't actually the Finnish TV the first station to broadcast the newly remastered Hammersmith Odeon 1975 footage?Nope, it was broadcast in Japan first, if I remember correctly. Staying Power on GVH2 looked pretty good. If the DVD includes the uncut gig in such a quality and with multi-angles as bonus, I'll be a happy bunny.I think the audio is what's going to blow us away the most. The mono mix on GVH2 was a complete tease. The MK DVD is going to rock. I heard they're going to release the 2cd before the DVD comes out. Is that true? |
jericho05 28.07.2004 18:32 |
I'm looking forward to the whole show.... I've heard very little of this but given that my first official concert was Queen on the Hot Space tour I really am excited about it. |
lovequeen 29.07.2004 16:28 |
Okay, I just checked the tapes that I've got.. Hammersmith '75 lasts only one hour and 3 minutes (both times when I recorded it). So unless the full lenght of it is only around 1:10, I believe there's something else missing as well... I seem to have misplaced the Wembley tape that I had, or I might have gotten rid of it cos it was such a poor picture due to antenna problems, so I can't be 100% sure of that now, but I do remember when it came from tv and I compared it to my aunt's Wembley double cassette (it was in the early part of the 90's), there were many many songs missing from the televised version and it made me really confused. |
