Apparently threads that are started on the old board do not appear on the new one. For example today's "Happy Birthday" threads do not show on the new board because they were started on the old board. Also, when you reply on the old board your post does not appear under "last post" on the new board, although the post is there. Somehow the posts also don't count on the new and old board in the same way...
I think it's getting difficult to follow the two boards, so who uses (only) the old board and who (only) the new one?
For those who lost it - the old board is here link
Been using the new one ever since it first appeared. Except for the purposes of searching through old posts, because last time I tried the search button on the new board didn't work, although it seems to now.
I only use the old board for searching for old posts, and changing my profile, since the new profile thing won't work for me.
I've always thought it was a bad idea to have two going at once. Probably the cause of many problems.
I am using caching to make the new board more efficient. the cache is cleared and when someone posts a message on the new board - but not currently on the old one.
i don't really want to maintain two boards, but if i have time, i will fix it so that the old board triggers a cache refresh.
Note, there is a search facility on the new board: link
still in an experimental stage, but i think it is an improvement on the old search.
For people with a bad eye sight there is a huge difference, the old board is so much easier to read. With all the quotes becoming popular, however, this advantage is becoming smaller. Some people just cannot post on the new board for some reason, maybe this will be sorted out in time. I suppose you cannot make everybody happy.
Well, just noticed the new board has a search function... and it kind of works. Me likey. Think I'll slowly but gradually give up on the oldie.
Can't please everyone? Pleasing everyone = phpbb or Invision Power Board.. no wait, that's just pleasing me. :-P
for people that can't use the new board, can they send a description of their problem. plus any error messages they receive.
if you haven't tried the new one for while, you might want to give it another go, as things have changed a little.
