I'm wanting to read real suicide notes that people have left. I've found some scattered here and there, and small portions done by celebrities: link
But what I'm really looking for is a comprehensive database of letters from regular folks.
Why would you want to read suicide notes? Why would anyone want to let you read their beloved one's suicide notes? Why are you posting on a NB that you want to read suicide notes, making everyone think you're a sick bastard?
I don't understand what's 'interesting' about it. I can tell you that the people I knew who committed suicide, did not leave notes.
Interesting, no?
:s

I think they are interesting...at school we have lessons on death and the whole process of dying... suicide notes make interesting study because they are real evidence.
is suicide the way out... or the way in?
is suicide a courageous act or an extremely selfish act
etc
BTW Silje your first post was a bit harsh...
DF: your response wasn't great either!
I believe I'm a normal guy... i dont have a morbid curiousity... But I'm facsinated / interested in the way people face up to the realities of death and their own mortality.
Does that make me a "sick bastard"
I wrote a suicide note 18 years ago - don't know what it said but I'm fairly sure it was gibberish, and would have baffled everyone if I actually had the guts to break the window and jump from the 7th floor. Three years later after three hospitalization in 6 months my manic depression has been successfully treated with no relapses.
There - that should kill this topic
I won't bother asking why, since other people have already done so, but I will add that certain suicide notes can create an unpleasant sensation in the stomach known as "I need to hurl NOW!" and not to do this unless you are willing to endure it.
After you have finished reading your suicide notes, maybe you can organise a coach trip to Auschwitz, the killing fields of Cambodia, hunt for the remaining body on Saddleworth Moor left by Brady & Hindley - so many 'interesting' things to do.....
c'mon guys... he didn't say he enjoyed reading suicide notes... he found them interesting. There is a difference.
At school we've read through Cobain's suicide letter, not because we're sickos but we wanted to know why he did it. Here is a guy who seemingly has it all... yet chooses to end his life. Surely reading his suicide letter is a valid way of finding out why he committed the most selfish / courageous act of all?
At least we know what your suicide note will consist of.
I, for one, will take great pleasure in reading that. Everyone will have loads of nice things to say at your funeral. I'll read your note as a eulogy.
Hello again everyone :)
Actually I never did say why I wanted to read them. I was actually feeling quite depressed at the time and thought I might be inspired or something.
Thank you all for your warmth and understanding.

Why are you such a mean spirited bitch?
No, she isnt. She's that kind of girl, about whom are created such songs as "Pretty Woman", "The most beautiful girl in the world", "I was born to love you"...

Inspired? Don't tell me.
Suicide notes aren't all they're cracked up to be, really, especially the Cobain one (which, from all the shit that surrounds it, you would think was something like the Pentagon Papers).

DF - I couldn't help it. Seeing someone ask to read suicide notes automatically makes me think something is wrong here. And seeing you "wanted it for inspiration", that was quite right, not? I'm usually no mean spirited bitch nor a bitch at all, but some things just trigger it.
Lawyeris - Well, I'm flattered. No need to defend myself with you around to do it for me, is there? lol.
