Cool! Even their DVDs come with obis!
Has a nice booklet with lyrics in Japanese only :-P All regions. Single disc. Says 140 mins.
Ooh! Nice menu using one of the 'Miracle' sessions pics. Chapter selection has a different pic on each page. First the Radio Ga Ga cover, then the original Live at Wembley cover, then a pic of Freddie holding out his crown :)
Audio selection: 'without lead vocal' or 'with lead vocal'.
Damn, the lyrics are burnt in just like the laserdisc version. I was hoping they'd be removeable on DVD. Oh well.
Looks like the complete original TATDOOL video, no animation or anything.
Anyway, I'll update in a bit and maybe share one of the bonus tracks. My pizza arrived at the same time.
Original full-frame videos though, that's a plus :)
They've changed the click tracks on some of these.. instead of just clicks, some have piano notes too.. sounds odd :)
For the vocal version of Hammer to Fall, they got rid of the crowd noise just like on GVH2, which is cool.
No restoration has been done as far as fade-ins and outs.. like 'Keep Yourself Alive' for example, it still fades in well into the song.
COOL!!! I'll check my postoffice box tomorrow!!
You might be able to get rid of the subtitles -- if you have a button on your DVD player's remote control, try that, might work!
Both audio tracks are Dolby Digital 2.0. I can't do any kind of video capturing. It's very similar to the postcard that was included in 'The Queen Collection' and the cover of the 1989 'Classic Queen', but not exactly. hehe
I think I'll share 'A Winter's Tale'. Check the Sharing the Music section in a few minutes :-P
Yeah Lisa, the 'CD' version has been remastered and corrupted with copy control and only one bonus track. Already having the original and with 4 bonus track on the DVD, I chose not to support copy control by buying the new downgraded version.
Okay, this might be worthy of its own topic, but here's some interesting info from the karaoke DVD:
All tracks mixed by Justin Shirley-Smith and Neil Amor at Metropolis, London 1996 except I Want It All, Breakthru, The Miracle, The Invisible Man, I'm Going Slightly Mad, The Show Must Go On, These Are The Days Of Our Lives, Heaven For Everyone and A Winter's Tale mixed during original The Miracle, Innuendo and Made In Heaven sessions. I Was Born To Love You mixed by Justin Shirley-Smith at Allerton Hill in 2004. Pro Tools by Kris Fredriksson.
Quite interesting eh? So they already had all of those done during the sessions. I would guess that they were for possible use as B-sides or something unless they had the karaoke idea long, long ago :)
It is quite common to downmix instrumental versions from the multitrack master when you are in the process of making the final mix. Some instrumentals from TFMSC are original as well.
Yeah, I commonly use instrumentals for my recordings, e.g. with Jealousy, all instruments already recorded are mixed onto my multi-track and used to save track space for vocal harmony, guitar/harmony, etc.
Very common to have a mixed track ready for the singer to record their vocals on top. Sometimes vocals recorded in-between sessions are used as finals, but can be rare. MIH is a good example as Freddie used little bits from demo vocals as finals.
Btw, I save as many details about my mixes as possible for backup. Usually means that opening it back up in years to come results in it being reproduced perfectly. Bit perfectionist, I know! I've just been doing that with my MLHBS cover from 2001. Opened back up perfectly!
Peace,
Adam.
Yeah, that makes sense too. Come to think of it, I've got a Tina Turner acapella track where you can hear the finished instrumental playing in her headphones and I'm sure I've heard others like that too.
It must depend on the song. Hasn't it been said that certain changes sometimes have to be made to make them more friendly for singing with?
Obviously I approach these from a different point of view. The 'karaoke' part doesn't interest me at all. I just enjoy hearing alternate versions and I like the idea of instrumentals.
I remember as a child I'd have some singles with an instrumental on the b-side and would love the idea, then I'd be really disappointed when I found that it still had backing vocals :-P
