I checked out an awesome book from the library titled Rock And Pop Timeline (How Music Changed The World Through Five Decades). It's a UK publication (copyright 2003) and has so much to offer in words and pictures! Yes, there is a lot of Queen in it (as there should be) and this, from page 241, caught my eye:
The year: 1991
SHOWSTOPPER
"November 24th: FREDDIE MERCURY of Queen dies in London, at the age of 45. Only two days ago he released a public statement confirming, for the first time, media speculation that he was dying of AIDS. He's spent his last few precious months working in the studio as much as his health would allow, including on his final single, "The Show Must Go On". But the show can't go on, really. Although the three remaining members will reunite in 1994 to record music around some of Mercury's final vocal tracks, Queen performing live without the strutting, preening, master showman would be unthinkable."
Barring inconsistencies in this article (complete with picture of Freddie from the POTU video), whoever wrote this was correct in the last sentence, especially the last word.
Anyone else read this book? Very oversized and heavy book but a great one!
