I was wondering about some other friends of Freddie that may or may not be alive. I was looking at the postscript to Peter Freestone's book and noted how many were "dead". Very sad.
I wonder about these people, amongst others:
Trip Khalaf
Mike Moran
Jo Dare
DoRo
Thor Arnold
Bryn Bridenthal
David Mallet
Dave Clark
Any ideas?
Trip Khalaf - alive as far as I know. I think he worked on the Another World tour in 1998.
Mike Moran - alive.
Jo Dare - alive.
DoRo - alive.
Thor Arnold - no idea.
Bryn Bridenthal - no idea.
David Mallet - alive, he also directed the Ballet For Life + TSMGO in 1997.
Dave Clark - alive.
David Mallet was involved in the recent 46664 concert and directed the 46664 DVD. He appears in one of the special feature segments.
I recognised his voice rather than his face!
Yeah, they rarely direct themselves these days, but they're the heads of a massively influential video production company.
David Mallet also contributed to GVH II (Radio Ga Ga-video).
Trip is still one of the top names in his business.
DoRo seem to get a lot of flak on this board - i thought the way they put Freddie and Bowie on stage together for the Under Pressure "Rah Mix" was really cool and "spooky"
They tried hard to imitate Natalie Cole singing Unforgettable with her (very!) late dad and Hank Williams Jr singing There's A Tear In My Beer with his (extremely late!!) dad. These videos were great innovations. The UP video, sadly, didn't fit, with the mismatched concert footage and the multiple band members. I've got the video on a CDR and had to look at it again.
Dare I say I prefer the old version to that one!!
It's a rather unimaginative video. And there's only one single shot that actually really features Freddie and Bowie together. The rest is their usual collage style.
although the original video of UP has its moments i always thought it was a "can't be arsed" video. I realise the difficulties in getting Bowie and Queen together to shoot the video....
i think this is one for the fan site. id email queenonline or queenworld. they are usually good with 'where are they nows' and if you leave a msg on chat at queenonline, ive actually had a reply from dave richards before.
