link So I guess that just that fact that someone loves another person is not reason enough to allow them to get married. |

I stopped believing this guy a long time ago, but I think he's reaching new lows. When's he going to realize that he can't use the war on terrorism as an excuse for everything? |
TheMiracle 11.07.2004 15:11 |
He'll never stop until he gets out of office. |
iGSM 11.07.2004 22:13 |
Or until he finds something he can't use that excuse on. 'Ah, day-am.. these pork rissoles are burnt, hon! It's those day-am terrorists again!' Then obviously a ripping guitar solo goes in there somewhere just to break it up. |

There was a stupidly funny comment at the end of "Anchorman" (yes- I saw it- and it was funny) about the stupid weather guy and how he came to be one of the top advisors to the Bush administration. |

Does the man have kids ? If so I truely hope one of them turns out to be gay |

I won't start talking about G.W.Bush because I think the man's not worth the time I'd spend typing. He's actually worth only one word: bastard. |

There is a picture of John Edwards in this week's Newsweek when he was like 5 years old or something. That was THE cutest picture I have ever seen in my life. |

I like Bush; he is someone with a back bone who stands up for what he believes in and speaks his mind. Not like the weasel we have as a leader here in the UK. I don't think gay marriages are right, but as long as there not done in a Holy place in the name of God and his son Jesus Christ then they can have all he sham marriages they want. |
SergeantPepperDG 14.07.2004 09:48 |
*blink* My dad believes that Bush is a reincarnation of Hitler. I wouldn't even go that far, but my family is pretty anti-Bush (but not overthrowing the govt. of anything) |
Mr.Jingles 14.07.2004 10:25 |
Seems to me like Bush is fighting the wrong enemy again. Osama Bin Laden and his pals are somewhere in the world planning their next attack and this fuckin' moron is too busy thinking about banning gay marriages. |

That's why we invaded Iraq. And Seargent is right, thisis the cutest picture ever. link |

That's one reason alone to vote for Kerry/Edwards. I'm sure Bush looked like a deformed monkey when he was little. |

Exit Roger Taylor I just hope this Jean_Luc character is under the age of 30. If so, then he has plenty of time to hit the age of reason. From the article: Bush said, "If courts create their own arbitrary definition of marriage as a mere legal contract, and cut marriage off from its cultural, religious and natural roots, then the meaning of marriage is lost and the institution is weakened." There's the #1 problem with traditional religion today - focusing on the antiquity of the dogma and its institution, rather than finding a way to make the dogma and its "naturality" more suitable for today's growing society. How can one with traditional faith have compassion for all others and their desires when that faith clearly creates these differences? |
Farlander 15.07.2004 03:40 |
If such things are mutable, then they are meaningless. It is axiomatic that morality does not change with the times. This "traditional faith" does not create these differences, it mearly points out they exist. |

I love this list. 12 reasons why gays shouldn’t marry: 1. Homosexuality is not natural, much like eyeglasses, polyester, and birth control. 2. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Infertile couples and old people can’t legally get married because the world needs more children. 3. Obviously, gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children. 4. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if Gay marriage is allowed, since Britney Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage was meaningful. 5. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are property, blacks can’t marry whites, and divorce is illegal. 6. Gay marriage should be decided by people, not the courts, because the majority-elected legislatures, not courts, have historically protected the rights of the minorities. 7. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America. 8. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall. 9. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. 10. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why single parents are forbidden to raise children. 11. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. Heterosexual marriage has been around for a long time, and we could never adapt to new social norms because we haven’t adapted to things like cars or longer life spans. 12. Civil unions, providing most of the same benefits as marriage with a different name are better, because a “separate but equal” institution is always constitutional. Separate schools for African-Americans worked just as well as separate marriages for gays and lesbians will. |

It is the divisive and anti-intellectual style of traditional faith that creates the difference, since these people merely quote the bible as their means of justification. You can't deny that a good chunk of the homophobic population comes from conservative religious upbringings. |
