For a while, there's been on-and-off talk about a "Queen Reunion Tour" and stuff like that, but it's usually just a complete sack of crap. I've noticed that most of these reports tend to suggest "guest vocalists" filling in for Freddie on lead vocals. So, my STRICTLY HYPOTHETICAL question is this: IF Queen were to regroup for a tour - or better yet, hold another "Freddie Tribute Concert" style concert with an array of guests - who would you want to see as a guest singer and what songs would you want them to sing? I've been thinking about that for a while, and here's some thoughts I had:
Steven Tyler - "Tie Your Mother Down"
Ronnie James Dio - "I Want It All"
Elton John - "Save Me"
Brian, Roger, and Paul McCartney - "Let Me Live"
David Bowie and Justin Hawkins - "Under Pressure" (Justin would be great on Freddie's high parts)
(this one's a bit off-beat)
Josh Groban and Michael Crawford - "Who Wants To Live Forever" (with full orchestra)
Rob Halford - "Stone Cold Crazy"
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel - "These Are The Days Of Our Lives"
Roger Daltrey - "Radio Gaga"
George Michael - "Somebody To Love" (no use messing with a winning formula!)
Debbie Harry - "I Want To Break Free"
Ann Wilson - "Love Of My Life"
Robert Plant - "39" and "Seven Seas of Rhye"
Justin Hawkins - "Bohemian Rhapsody" (he won a karaoke contest by singing this, so I'd be anxious to hear him!)
Bruce Dickinson - "The Show Must Go On"
Amy Lee - "We Will Rock You"
Steve Perry - "We Are The Champions"
These are a few of my personal opinions. I realize that I've probably made a few singer-song combinations that some people will hate, and certain specific singers on here are hated by a great deal of people, but hopefully some of them will go over well. Either way, these are just my opinions. Let me know what you think and who you would like to hear singing Queen songs.
i has to be strictly hypothetical, you would never get all those people to be able to go on on one tour, and the ticket prices would be insane!
but yeah I like your choices...
I myself wouldn't mind just brian and roger goin on tour with some of the people from their bands, they've played Queen stuff before on their solo tours, I would like to see jeff scott soto do it, as he can match the vocals pretty well without sounding exactly like Freddie...
while we're on the topic, also, should it really be called Queen? I mean there was that whole Doors of the 21st century thing, I mean maybe it could be the "evening of Queen music extravaganza" or something, I just think it's be kinda weird saying you went to go see Queen when it really was only 50% Queen...
but thats my opinion...
"Rob Halford???? Id love to give him a good kick in the bollocks."
Well, to be honest, I think that James Hetfield actually did a really good job with "Stone Cold Crazy" at the Freddie Tribute Concert, but I've come to hate Metallica as of lately so I didn't put him down again. Plus, Halford is a Freddie fan, so I doubt he'd have any objection to performing it. Another thing I've thought of - and I realize that I'm really taking a risk here because this guy is severely hated by many people - is that I think Sammy Hagar could do a kick-ass "Hammer To Fall". Just my opinion.
I think Pearl Jam's collection should do Bohemian Rhapsody again. Provided that this time they actually knew the song and practiced it beforehand, I think they could do Freddie proud.
Of course, "Big Spender" isn't actually a Queen song... just one of the covers they performed at Wembley... but I do like Beyonce. I could see her doing "Somebody To Love", actually.
