Just to recap: Last month I bought a "CD" set "Donna Summer - Bad Girls" (deluxe edition). I wasn't able to play or extract the last two songs on either disc so I assume it's copy control.
I demanded a refund but it wasn't granted. I eventually went back and exchanged it for another copy.. same exact thing. So I finally got in touch with the distributor, Universal Music. They claim it isn't copy protected and sent me a third copy to try, which of course had the same problems.
So I sent that back and they're sending a different title (Diana Ross - Diana (also deluxe) (yes, I'm *that* gay).
In the meantime, I alerted the Better Business Bureau to my problems with Best Buy in trying to get a refund. Today I got a letter from Best Buy.. they're sending a $30 gift card (which covers the cost of the disc) but absolutely no refund. HAHAHA
So I'm getting $60 worth of stuff free and get to keep my original CD set (guess I'll sell it) but no refund. I'm almost tempted to keep fighting, refuse the gift card and say I won't settle til I get my refund. It's a matter of principle you know.
But I'll probably just accept this. Damn these Best Buy bastards are pigheaded! When you buy a product and it turns out to be defective, you should be able to get your money back regardless of whether it's music/movies, whatever.
Incidently I did get a refund once from Wal Mart for Terminator 2, the metal case edition because I couldn't get everything to play. It helped that they included a note in the disc stating that they'd used new technology to fit so much material and that consumers may have problems with it :-P
I do like Bette (she's on a Letterman rerun tonight btw), but for some reason I've never really owned any of her music.. except for one album when I was quite young. And I didn't even see 'Beaches' til a couple years ago and I wasn't too impressed :-P
It appears that the only product I own right now related to her is 'Ruthless People'. It's weird.. I swear, I do like her. Just watched her two hour biography a couple weeks ago.
Maybe it's a struggle within. Some deep-rooted fear that letting my Midler love blossom will just be too gay. I must work on this.
