Ihave recently purchased Quenn Live At Wembley and G.V.H Vol 2, but cant get them to play in surround sound. I ahve gone round various shops to try them on different players and set ups but to no avail.
Has anyone else had this problem?, if so, how did you remedy the problem?.
I have tried contacting EMI but may as well talk to a brick wall.
Many thanks

First you need surround speakers, a center, front left and right, and back speakers, plus a subwoofer.
Then you'll need a DVD player that can support DTS and/or Dolby Digital 5.1 or higher.
Finally, you'll need a receiver or amp that can decode DTS and/or Dolby Digital signals.
If you have all these things you will also need to manually select the audio options on your Queen DVDs to play in surround sound.
Hope this helps.
and don't forget... Queen DVDs don't support Dolby 5.1 - you'll need a DTS decoder if you wanna listen to any Queen dvd in surround sound.
i bought a Panasonic S-75 esp. for my queen Dvds - it has Dolby / DTS decoders built in and also plays DVD- Audios - its very cheap too!
i got mine for £120 (multi region)
Yeah, it's a case of false advertising. They say 'remixed in 5.1 surround sound' on the front, but sadly, they don't include Dolby Digital, which is the most common surround format in use.
After you acquire a DTS decoder, you'll be treated to mostly 4.1 surround, as the idiots think that the center should be spread across the fronts. Rather than giving that option to the consumer, they simply don't use the center channel much of the time.
'k, I don't know if you know how to set up the disc itself to play in surround sound, and I may make an arse out of myself for saying this, but on the main menu of each disc, go to the AUDIO menu and select the DTS 5.1 tracks, which, yes, need an EXTERNAL DTS decoder and a 5.1 speaker system attached to the decoder.
If you need more info just ask me.

That depends on what Queen DVD's you buy.
Most of GVH1 and nearly all of GVH2 are in DTS 5.1 but with the center channel silenced, so therefore 4.1
The Freddie Mercury Tribute and Wembley DVD's are in 5.1, but that is because they are upmixed so don't expect anything too special with the DTS tracks.
The ANATO and Game DVD-Audio discs are in 5.1
There IS one really good unofficial Queen concert DVD available in USA/Canada that is properly remixed for Dolby/DTS 5.1, which is the We Will Rock You DVD, 2001 re-release issue, although it's a bit expensive to buy these days. But I really recommend it
My big gripe besides the exclusive use of DTS is the fact that the consumer can make the choice to send sound to the fronts rather than center with a simple adjustment (for me anyway). By them dictating what they think sounds best, they're removing that option and wasting the whole idea of 5.1 by losing a channel.
I know they're not all like that, but it was really sad when GVH1 first came out and people actually thought it was defective because of the lack of center channel. After all, you expect all channels to be used.
