Do you remember fatty's argument with another Queenzoner (I forgot who it was) about Freddie's Adidas boots he used to wear on stage? Well, Adidas now sells a very similar model called Boxing TR.
You can see them here link
To compare with Freddie's original shoes: link
There's a model of Adidas shoes that are dead-on replicas called Prajna. They're flat-soled yoga shoes and they're VERY comfy and attractive -- you can see them on Adidas.com. I love mine!!
Ah, yes.
Fatty's argument was with Khashoggi (and what a great one it was), and Khashoggi was convinced that the particulal model that Freddie used to wear was the Hercules wresting boot, pretty much as in the link Erin provided.
Erica, we have class!! (LOL)
I've worn the Adidas brand since 1975. I remember when I bought my first pair, my mum thought I was crazy spending $20 on "sneakers". I bought them because they were the first athletic shoe that fit correctly!
Now they're $80 and up. I still buy them. There's a great seller on Ebay (user name Shoebacca) that has some very awesome prices! I got a pair of black and white Superstars for (get this) $5.25. Shipping was $6.50. Best bargain I ever got on a pair of Adidas!!

Did you know that Adidas and Puma (that is, the founders of the respective companies) were brothers ?

Hangman, that is NOT a bad price at all! When I was looking for a pair similar to that in 2002, one pair of Hercules on Ebay went for $275...and the ones in the auction you referred to are in MUCH better shape and with the original box!!
(Yes, the size is very large -- get 'em and stuff the toes with toilet paper!! LOL)
For me it depends on the usedness of the shoe. I got some Chuck Taylors off trademe.co.nz that the seller had worn only a couple of times before he realised they were too small for $30, where they'd cost $90 new.
And when I got them they smelt fine and you could barely tell at all that they'd ever been worn :-) However, I wouldn't buy any that really were secondhand.
So when Johnny Depp was auctioning off a pair of his underpants- my psycho friend was very excited. I don't want to know what she would have done with them.
