okay, it isn't nothing new but...
Oh God... How I love this album, really. Specially Ensueño, Guide Me Home and How Can I Go On... wow, my tears, hell!
It's just a miracle Freddie did this album, along with diva Montserrat Caballé, born in the same city as I did, with the name of my precious and beloved city.
I just, this is just a heaven's gift.
You must be very proud to be from Barcelona, Josue.
Freddie and Montsy did a superb album dedicated to your city.
Aside from that, I read somewhere that recently Barcelona became the first city in Spain to ban bullfighting.
Hope other cities in Spain and Latin America follow the great example of Barcelona and decide to put an end to this barbaric tradition.
Good point there Jingles.
I'm totally against the bullfighting. Mainly cause it's a REAL torture to the animal: before the 'cultural show' the animal is being throw some kind of powder so the bull can't keep still cause then it's like its feets burn. And, the animal remains 3 days without light of day, no even being feed, being scared and so...
Terrify.
Another point that makes me be against that 'cultural show' is the fact that it is mainly a Spanish folklore, and even though I'm officially spanish, I don't feel spanish at all. As I recently said many times, there're 3 nations inside besides the spanish one. One of that is Catalonia, with its own languague and culture. I'm from Catalonia, I'm catalan and I'm against that shit.
And well, the bullfighting is not being banned so far... there're intentions of, but here we're still arguing about this.
Anyway, Barcelona is great!!!!
God, think if Freddie were still alive -- there would have been more collaboration with Montserrat Caballe! They were wonderful together, their singing complimented each other's. That was MEANT to be! I love every track off that CD and love listening to the Barcelona Sessions in the FM Solo Collection boxset. I still get a kick out of the ending of When This Tired Old Body Wants To Sing -- Peter Straker's laugh always makes me start too!
I LOVE Barcelona! I listen to it all the time. I also like looking at the pictures from those sessions.Freddie with his arms around Montserrat;the two laughing; They really loved each other's company. I read that when the two first came out for the audience, hand in hand,Montsy said Freddie's hand was sweaty and trembling. And that made her very happy because she knew he was nervous. I have the portrait of Freddie and Montsy all dressed up in my office. That is the most handsome Freddie has ever looked.(And Montsy's cute, too!)
Freddie did the Barcelona album near the end of his life but in the pictures with Montsy he looked quite chubby. Does anyone know whether he took steroids so she wouldn't look so large or he so skinny and ill? If so this seems exactly the type of polite gesture Freddie would do. I love Barcelona and was thrilled when i found a copy of the WHOLE album. I live in Australia we have nothing rare or interesting. I fall asleep listening to Barcelona every night. My favourite song is Ensueno. I love Montsy I'm going to buy all her albums, that's if I can find them!
I really like Barcelona. It's so different from Queen's sound, and not something I would picture myself liking, but it's just so unique. Their voices work so well together; I love the lyrical 'spars' between them, like in The Fallen Priest.
I was just listening to How Can I Go On, and I think it sounds kind of similar to TSMGO. When Freddie says, 'Is anybody there to believe in me?' it sounds exactly like, 'Does anybody know what we are living for?' And the end, when it fades out with the 'Go on' repeating.

That's true!I didn't realise that but you're right.

He was probably on Prednisone or some cortisteroid. I can't take them either, my body reacts the same way!
Freddie most likely was HIV+ then, not full-blown AIDS but getting close to it. He may have been on experimental drugs as well, and his body showed it. That was the largest he had ever been in his life! Notice the Queen videos Miracle, I Want It All, and Breakthru and see how bloated Freddie is (his face still quite round and his eyes looking so lost in his face!). Then in Scandal -- skinny again and the fantastic bone structure back to normal. Makes one more than think...as I did back then when the videos were new. It was a nagging, horrible suspicion that turned out to be true later.
