according to Brian: "FORTHCOMING QUEEN RELEASES The next American release will be a re-tooled Greatest Hits album, out in August 2004. The next Queen DVD will be the Milton Keynes show, entitled "Queen On Fire At The Bowl", expected pre-Christmas. Also for Christmas Release - Live Aid DVD and the studio album of 46664" a shame really... i was hoping Queen Productions would continue to release 2 Dvds and a DVD-A every year. interesting title for the Milton Keynes DVD? Live at Milton Keynes, doesn't sound quite as cool as Live at wembley, eh? |
Daz85 27.06.2004 16:53 |
Yes, its quite an interesting title! I suspose the "On Fire" part refers to Hot Space. |
Daz85 27.06.2004 16:54 |
Also, no mention of the compilation intended to 'replace' the Platinum Collection for the rest of the world? |
agneepath! 11994 27.06.2004 16:58 |
I thought the Live-aid DVD was sir Bob's project - why would Brian be announcing it as a "queen release?" |
Penis - Vagina 27.06.2004 17:59 |
Yeah, Roger mentioned that would be called 'On Fire' in the Rockline interview. Sounds kind of silly to me, but I'll wait to judge it until I see the cover art :-P |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 18:04 |
Ah, then...I'll be happy with the Jewels DVD! (Were we not surprised??? LOL) |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 18:06 |
The title "Queen On Fire At The Bowl" sounds strange, funny and ludicrous at the same time...! (Kinda reminds me of "fire in the hole!" -- what servicemen yell when they release a grenade or something similar. YIKE!!) |
agneepath! 11994 27.06.2004 18:20 |
yeah deep down i knew there would be no DVd-A release this year - i just hope they haven't shelved plans for DVd-A releases completely. wouldn't surprise me if the buggers did just that! |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 18:21 |
***keeping fingers crossed for Queen II or SHA!*** |
-fatty- 2850 27.06.2004 18:25 |
Is there any info on the Live Aid DVD yet? fatty. |
agneepath! 11994 27.06.2004 18:41 |
Fatty: don't think so... last i heard was that the rights to Live aid were up for bidding - anyone know who won? things must have progressed since then coz Brian is convinced it will be ready before Xmas. |
Saint Jiub 27.06.2004 18:43 |
Two or three previouly unreleased items sound great to me. It's almost like flooding the market. Does Jim Beach know about this? |
Michael Allred 27.06.2004 21:38 |
Brian must know something because no other news source has given any indication that Live Aid would be released soon. As for the Milton Keynes title.....someone walking past it on the shelf might think it was a concert in Mexico...... |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 21:43 |
Things could be worse...it could turn up as one of those really cheap-quality Portugese DVDs at Best Buy! ;-) |

Now, this is bloody highway robbery -- I got mine directly from Japan for $35 US dollars -- why the huge jump in price, I wonder...? QUEEN We Are The Champions - Final Live In Japan (2004 Japanese exclusive Region 2 NTSC DVD featuring 22 classic tracks captured live at the Tokyo Yoyogi National Stadium, May 11th 1985) US$ 77.38 / £ 42.99 link [Image Available at EIL.COM] |

rhapsody__87 27.06.2004 22:38 |
The Milton Keynes title is SO incredibly corny. Queen on fire! HA! And what a letdown that there's no GVH3... I'd trade in MK for GVH3 any day! |
Adam Baboolal 27.06.2004 23:13 |
It was announced a long time ago that GVH3 wouldn't be coming out this year. Do people not search this forum for previous news? It's fairly common knowledge, I would've thought. Not to mention Brian's mentioned it as well. Peace, Adam. |
rhapsody__87 27.06.2004 23:18 |
Calm down now, Adam. Some of us may have forgotten. |
The Mir@cle 28.06.2004 03:33 |
3 new releases before Christmas is enough for me. I look forward to the Milton Keynes DVD. We will see GVH III next year. Something to look forward to. |
Hitman 28.06.2004 06:52 |
Queen on fire at the bowl....nice title : ) |
Josuè 28.06.2004 06:53 |
It seems good news to me indeed. Milton Keynes might be great, I love the title. I don't really care so much for GVH3. |
Adam Baboolal 28.06.2004 07:30 |
What do you mean calm down? Did I answer your question in a threatening way?? :S Anyway, GVH3 will be a very good release because of the extras really. That and the Innuendo videos. Just remember that they kept them back because they're moving in chronological order. GVH2 was up to the end of the 80's videos and GVH1 ended at the beginning of the 80's. Peace, Adam. |
agneepath! 11994 28.06.2004 07:42 |
i too am looking forward to GVH 3 ... i hope they are delaying it to get it just right... like Adam, i hope the extras will be good / revealing. |

Darren Robins wrote: Yes, its quite an interesting title! I suspose the "On Fire" part refers to Hot Space.Somehow I don't think so. More likely because the term 'on fire' is used a lot these days (mainly by teenagers) to describe someone who is 'great', 'hot' , 'happening' (remember that one from the 90s?). Like Wayne Rooney in Euro 2004. He has been described as 'on fire' by several commentators, pundits, media etc. Where as David Beckham would be described as.... ??? (Don't answer that!) So it's just a recognizable modern phrase that stands out. Nothing to do with Hot Space. They're not daft these marketing people who come up with these ideas. |

"Queen on fire at the bowl"! Really nice title! What will be the next live DVD? "Queen chilling in the ice stadium"? :) It could be possible, if they recorded the concert in the Stockholm ice stadium in '78, for example! :) |

Babel_esp 28.06.2004 19:07 |
English is not my native language, but I find it appropiate the expresion "Queen on fire" to the Milton Keynes bowl. I give it the meaning of Queen being at their best - Leeds'82 and MK'82 have been mentioned many times by Brian and Roger as the best performances they have EVER made on stage, musically and emotionally can only be compared to Live AID'85. So, "Queen in fire" is perfect to me :) In basketball, when a player scores some consecutive baskets it is also said that "he is on fire", so translating the meaning to Queen, they were performing outstandingly in that 1982 period - it works :). |
Whatinthewhatthe? 28.06.2004 19:27 |
"Queen On Fire" is too close for comfort to Roger's "Man On Fire"...don't you think?? |
Whatinthewhatthe? 29.06.2004 07:41 |
Who/what is your source? Not confirmed by QP! |
The Real Wizard 30.06.2004 01:04 |
What's the big deal about GVH3? We have it all on VHS already... same old stuff. How could any fan trade in NEW concert material in favour of OLD videos? Would you trade in new studio material for GVH3 as well? |
Shane Jazz 30.06.2004 01:52 |
Guitar Hero, you are absolutely right. For me, there is no comparison between getting a live Queen DVD such as Milton Keynes and a retread release such as GHV3. In fact, GVH3 might be the first major Queen related release that I choose not to purchase. It's only really the Innuendo videos and No One But You. You've got to be kidding yourself if you dearly want the Made in Heaven short films on DVD. If this thing somehow gets padded out to two discs, then that is exactly what we'll be getting: padding. Something new and fresh and exciting such as MK '82 is far superior to me than GVH3, which was released on video only a few years ago. And that reaked of "scrapping the bottom of the barrel". |
thanks freddie 30.06.2004 07:25 |
Maybe because over the years VHS wil disapear, the quality of VHS wil be poor as years go by and the amount of VCR recorders will be less over the years. DVD sound and image will be brighter and longer presurved over the years. And to me i don't use my VCR any more, unless i want to make a copy from a VHS to DVD, then i use my VCR. And i think many people are doing that so i a few years there will be more DVD's than VCR's and maybe thats the reason people wants to see GVH III on DVD. Michel |
Adam Baboolal 30.06.2004 07:52 |
Shane, do you like dvd extras? GVH3 will be full of them, I'm sure. Making of videos, interviews, concert footage, etc. The hope for the next release is to have stuff that covers MIH better than it was in the Champions video. Innuendo also deserves more coverage, although I'm not sure if we'll be told much, the DOOL video "making of" can be tough viewing. Anyway, there will be videos on the first disc that no-one cares for, e.g. AOBTD98remix, WWRY-5ive. But because of the good videos and the extras it'll be, IMO, the best of the three. Purely on content. Peace, Adam. |
KevMull 30.06.2004 11:07 |
thanks freddie wrote: DVD sound and image will be brighter and longer presurved over the years.Only time will tell if DVD/DVDRs will be good enough from a posterity point of view. I've transferred all my rare Queen vids onto DVD, but there's NO WAY i'll ever ditch my tape masters. I've heard horror stories that a lot of the cheap brand DVD-Rs are only lasting a few months and even some DVDV films from 1998-99 are starting to 'rot'! |
deleted user 30.06.2004 12:44 |
I have to agree with Adam. We should wait until we know what's gonna be on GVH III before bashing it. Apart from that, the VHS tape doesn't have surround sound. |
Adam Baboolal 30.06.2004 14:19 |
Good point, I hadn't even mentioned the DTS 5.1! A nice extra. Peace, Adam. |
agneepath! 11994 30.06.2004 14:29 |
i hope Roger and Brian do their commetaries together for the videos on GVH 3. i think the commentary suffered on GVh 2 as a result of them recording it separately. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 30.06.2004 14:35 |
I was watching GVH II last night, and the commentary sounds so spliced together. I agree, next time, they should record it together. It makes it more interesting, too, to have Brian and Roger responding to each other. |
Shane Jazz 30.06.2004 14:50 |
I wonder if they will include Living on My Own and Driven By You on the DVD version of GVH3. Commentaries by Roger and Brian on those two, especially Living On My Own, would be interesting. |
agneepath! 11994 30.06.2004 14:58 |
i think their recollections of IGSM will be interesting... Brian wasn't there for TATDOOL. |
Adam Baboolal 30.06.2004 14:59 |
More excellent points! The commentary stuff was really funny on GVH1. GVH2 was okay, but like folk have said, it suffered from not being recorded together. I too hope they both record a commentary together and also to hear those comments on LOMO! Peace, Adam. |
