My friend just told me she got an email saying that the SNL that Queen were musical guests on will be on after the usual 11:30 SNL on Saturday night. I just checked the SNL website and it didn't say anything so I hope it's true! |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 24.06.2004 23:07 |
I can't confirm or deny, but if Danny DeVito's hosting, it's the right one! |

Well, according to the NBC schedule: link 1:01 AM SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (ALL NIGHT) 302 - CHEVY CHASE/QUEENoad 9/25/82 That would be the one.. funny they mention Chevy and not Danny though. Before someone asks what 'All Night' means, that's what NBC calls their overnight schedule.. it doesn't mean _this_ show will literally be on all night :-P Anyway, it's great news because they show the complete original 90 minute episodes, unlike the recent Comedy Central reruns. |

YES!!! I KNEW if I waited long ehough they'd play the friggin' thing! Now I can finally get it on tape! :D |
rmtfictionqueen 25.06.2004 00:06 |
This is definitely something I have to remember to watch. I was only one when it debuted so I've never seen it before. I'm just lucky I don't have to work the next day. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 25.06.2004 07:51 |
YAY!! I saw it when it was new and LIVE -- tape will be just as great, more than twenty years later... *yike* |

They have broadcasted that SNL show with Queen as guests, on the Swedish tv channel ZTV, 2 times this year! I have taped it. Last time there was a picture of Freddie in the Swedish tv-guide too! :) Btw, nice new picture Erica, you look wonderful! :) |
Daburcor? 25.06.2004 16:18 |
Erica, It seems you keep getting more an more fans. Be careful. ;) |
rhapsody__87 25.06.2004 17:20 |
Hahaha Dan... thank you FredM! :-) AHHHH I'm so gonna tape this -- I'm actually still downloading it right now but it's not amazing quality. Oh, I'm really excited. |
Daburcor? 25.06.2004 17:58 |
Yeah, I HAVE to tape it! I'd better dig out my tape that has legends on it! :D |

I have to figure out my VCR. I'm so used to a DVD player by now that recording on a VCR has kind of escaped me. Since the TV that has the VCR is next to my parents' room, I have to keep it low or on mute. Is it okay to keep it on mute while recording? Will there be sound? WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER THIS! |

WHY CAN'T I REMEMBER THIS!OMG, this is so funny! I love that some people are still confused about stuff like this :) Erica, you have to understand that a VCR is self-contained.. if it's getting a signal from its tuner, or cable box, or however it works for you, then it's recording the audio and video, in color. Some people used to ask stuff like.. if I watch it on a black & white TV, will it record black & white.. hehe. Your TV doesn't even need to be on. The TV is just a monitor. So yes, you can have the TV on mute and it won't affect it :) Edit: There needs to be a tape in it though, and put the record speed to 'SP' for best quality and get a new tape.. you'll have plenty of extra time. And when you set a timer, start it a minute earlier and give it a couple minutes extra at the end. Stuff is never exactly on time these days. |

Haaahaha thank you so much Deacon Fan. For someone like me who is so stuck up about technology, I don't even remember that. Thanks! |

I've re-uploaded the Saturday Night Live track Crazy Little Thing Called Love. See link (download section) |
Wilki Amieva 26.06.2004 11:25 |
What a VCR was supposed to do? What is it supposed to be? I just cannot remember... |

Digital recording has gotten so cheap now. You can get a free tivo-like recorder from your cable or satellite provider in most cases. I use Dish Network and love my recording box.. it holds 100 hours and is super-high quality. And for permanent storage, Wal Mart now has DVD recorders as low as $224 in stores, even cheaper online. I had one briefly earlier this month to get some saved stuff cleaned off my satellite box.. a cheap Emerson model, but the name wasn't important to me cuz I was just borrowing it. The DVD-R discs play perfectly on my Pioneer player. Haven't tried a DVD + R yet. They're getting so cheap I might actually buy one to keep someday instead of making 10 discs and then returning it for a made-up reason. |
rhapsody__87 26.06.2004 17:09 |
I have the performances downloaded but it's not AMAZING quality... and I'd like to see that whole episode, too. One newspaper lists this SNL being on at 1:01 AM... DirecTV tells me 3 AM... whaaaat? |
Rien 26.06.2004 17:50 |
I took the one from my site directly from my SNL-DVD. It would disappoint me if you're talking about that version... :-( |
rhapsody__87 26.06.2004 18:02 |
Oh no no... it's something that I found that has both the CLTCL and UP performances right after each other. It looks as if someone recorded right up close to the TV because I could see a TV screen around it. Haha... |
Penis - Vagina 26.06.2004 22:21 |
Well if you're in the Eastern zone, it would be 1 am (or 1:01, whatever NBC). I'm central so it's Midnight... further west it gets tricky. 1 am is actually 11 pm Pacific, but I think they tape-delay stuff to make it be equal to Eastern time, so it'll probably start at 1 am Pacific, but that'll be the delay and it'll actually be 3 am Eastern. Don't even ask me about Mountain time. This shit is confusing enough. :-P I wonder if they rechanneled the sound for the DVD set... being 1982, TV was still in mono in the states. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 26.06.2004 22:42 |
For me, it says tonight's SNL (starting at 11) has Simon Cowell on it. And then after, it's Showtime At The Apollo. Any idea if the SNL with Queen on it will be on instead? |
Lisser 26.06.2004 23:05 |
For me it says She Spies is on after SNL. I'll be so mad if its not on where I am. |
Penis - Vagina 26.06.2004 23:23 |
That blows. I guess some local affiliates might not carry the whole NBC schedule. This late night 'All Night' thing is fairly recent I think. During the week they also show reruns of The Tonight Show and Conan O'brian in the wee hours. The shows you guys mentioned are syndicated, so your locals are putting them on in place of NBC stuff. It happens :( We used to get local sports stuff all the time in place of network programs and it made me furious. Now I get locals from Kansas City and they seem to respect their networks a little more. |
rmtfictionqueen 27.06.2004 04:16 |
Over here it is ER that was on after SNL. I was so excited to see Queen on SNL. I hate it when the websites lie. When it is a national one, it should do it all over not just if the affiliate wants to or not. |
Michael Allred 27.06.2004 06:04 |
I watched the show tonight (thanks for the heads up.) I'm astonished as to how AWFUL that SNL cast was. The ONLY reason to watch it was for Queen. |
Penis - Vagina 27.06.2004 07:19 |
I agree about the cast, except Eddie Murphy.. and it's easy to see why he left when he did. This was the first time I'd seen this performance of Under Pressure in full. Both performances were okay.. Brian didn't quite get the solo out right on Crazy Little Thing, and one of the clapping sounds was out of sync on Under Pressure, but I'm being trivial :-P Was cool to see them standing around with the cast at the end too, and with full credits instead of cutting out real fast like they usually do these days. |
Rien 27.06.2004 09:00 |
I haven't been on KaZaa for ages and on the SNL dvd there's only CLTCL. Is Under Pressure available somewhere else (on the Internet)? (I'm not in the Hub) |
Erin 27.06.2004 12:46 |
Did anyone get it on tape? Here they showed E.R. I'd love a copy... |
rhapsody__87 27.06.2004 13:29 |
I didn't get to watch it. I'm kicking myself... of course, I have to live in New Jersey where they showed it at 3AM. I couldn't figure out my VCR because it was being a spaz and I was just too tired to go to sleep and have my alarm wake me up for the episode. Needless to say, I'm upset. I know I have CLTCL and UP downloaded, but I wanted to see how the whole episode was. And I wanted to see them standing with the cast at the end! Oh well. :'-( |
Michael Allred 27.06.2004 15:30 |
What I found especially interesting when Queen and the cast were standing around at the end, you get to see Freddie and Eddie Murphy hug. It's interesting because just a few years later, Murphy's infamous "faggot" comedy routines got him into some hot water. |
MexQueenFM 27.06.2004 16:06 |
it was at 3AM here, and i got to see CLTCL, but i'm a fool, i didn't record the whole thing, i fell asleep |
rmtfictionqueen 27.06.2004 17:12 |
It was on over here at 2am and I had the urge to turn the tv on at 2:30 and it was at the end of the Gumby sketch. So I was just one commercial break away from the first performance. I guess I got lucky. So I didn't really miss anything. All I cared about was Queen. The sketches sucked. |
Daburcor? 27.06.2004 18:11 |
I missed it... Fuck... |
