Has anyone heard anything about which Queen album is slated for release in DVD-A format? I'm really hoping either Jazz or Innuendo but we can always hope Sheer Heart Attack or Queen II may be a possibility! (Actually, I would go for any Queen album as the next release. The sound on ANATO and The Game is so alive it leaves you wanting MORE!!) |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 24.06.2004 22:54 |
OH, I sure hope so! If there's any possibility of us "willing it" to happen just by saying it every day, then "I'm chanting as we speak", sweetie darling! |
Penis - Vagina 24.06.2004 23:55 |
We've discussed this before and I think most of us agreed it should be Queen II and I think there was some talk of that in the Queen camp, but you never know. That would be a good choice in my opinion. The album is even popular among people who aren't big Queen fans and would probably sell quite well in this format. |
Daburcor? 25.06.2004 00:01 |
Well, I for one wouldn't mind having a nice DTS version of Innuendo... Though, I also want to get it on vinyl and cassette as well. Hey, It's my favorite album, And I only have one copy of it! I even have multiple copies of The Works! :P |

I hope Brian is in charge of the mixing again! The first DVD-A of ANATO was mixed by Elliot Scheiner and parts of it were superior to Brian's version...but then again parts of Brian's were superior to Elliot's version...they should have combined both to make the BEST version, IMHO! (Guitars are very prominent in Brian's, for those who haven't heard it yet!) Brian and Roger are so busy with the musical I doubt we'll see another DVD-A this year...but I'm hoping for a miracle since I've played the three I own to death and want MOREMOREMORE!! I see we have AbFab fans on this list -- I'm one as well! I've written Jennifer Saunders about a proposed storyline in which Edina and Patsy try to get publicity rights for WWRY in another country and end up stalking Brian and Roger in the process...would be nice publicity if it saw the light of day! |

Hmm... Justin and Kris start remixing songs for the GVHits and do a pretty good job. Who's to say it isn't possible that Brian etc. could tell them to make up a DVDA project? Not a bad idea, methinks. Maybe bring in some 3rd party help on the mixing. Mind you, JSS did do The Game by himself. Hmm...indeed! Peace, Adam. |
FriedChicken 25.06.2004 08:15 |
"Hmm... Justin and Kris start remixing songs for the GVHits and do a pretty good job." Whoa, the GVH mixes suck so much! It sounds to me they were mixed very 'lazy'. Somewhere between breakfast and lunch on a monday morning |
Billie 25.06.2004 08:36 |
Lisa, you said (and a everybody say it) that "Brian and Roger are so busy with the musical". What does this mean, really? I know that it's difficult to make the musical (thinking, planning, choosing the actors, promotion, etc). But now, with the musical going on and working fine, what are they really doing about it, that make them spend time just and only for that? |
Jjeroen 25.06.2004 08:44 |
"Whoa, the GVH mixes suck so much" Hmm, I found most of them on GVH 1 pretty much alright actually?! |
Mr. Scully 25.06.2004 09:01 |
"what are they really doing about it, that make them spend time just and only for that?" - attending it (Brian does that almost every evening) - changing a note here and there - promoting it everywhere on radio - bringing it into more countries, planning to flood the whole world with it That counts only for Brian though. I doubt Roger's does more than just attending the launch parties. |
Pim Derks 25.06.2004 10:06 |
"That counts only for Brian though. I doubt Roger's does more than just attending the launch parties." He probably also hits on girls not even half his age during the auditions/rehearsals (I don't blame him ;-)) |
Billie 25.06.2004 11:23 |
Thanks for the reply, Martin |
Adam Baboolal 25.06.2004 11:41 |
My point being that Justin and Brian dealt with The Game on their own and fans seem to love it. So I think it's fairly easy to do a couple more at some point. Peace, Adam. |

If I'm right, (and there's plenty of people on this forum to correct me!!!), Made in Heaven was one of the biggest sellers so logically this would be next surely? Queen II just doesn't have enough hit singles does it? ADATR would be a good (and logical) choice with regard sales figures. Seeing as Queen couldn't get arrested in the US during the 80s I wouldn't of thought it would be any 80s albums (seeing as it's a largerly american market). ALSO I read elsewhere on t'internet that DVD-Audio as a format is, as Alan Partridge might say, moribund. (Look it up!). Please don't switch to SACD now I've bought a DVD-audio player!!! |
pma 25.06.2004 17:20 |
You read on the internet that DVD-Audio is about to die? Gimme a break. RIAA reports DVD-AUDIO sales are 5 times of SACD. The most sold crap of today (Britney, Beyonce and so on) comes in DVD-AUDIO, which is a boost for the format. link Here's a discussion on the news. link I would admittedly buy SACD discs, but as it would require me to invest on a new player, sod it. Oh and on Topic: I'd be happy with any Queen album on dvd-audio. I'll buy it anyway. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 25.06.2004 18:25 |
Well done!! :-)) DVD audio is the best thing to come out since the 24 karat gold CD in sound quality. Having a home theatre is a huge plus though. Before I bought mine I played the DVD-As on analog speakers, then on digital speakers, and then on the home theatre and....WOW -- an aural orgasm! You can hear EVERYTHING, even Freddie BREATHING. I think it's the next best thing to being in a studio, the clarity is THAT awesome! God bless Brian and Roger, the jet-lagged guys we love who are doing such a tremendous job with the musical. Maybe, just maybe, Brian will be up for that knighthood one of these days...!! |
earwig 26.06.2004 16:14 |
Well, I stand corrected said the man in the orthopedic shoes!!! And thank god i heard duff information! Does this mean Dark Side of the Moon will be re released on DVD-Audio? |
agneepath! 11994 26.06.2004 16:25 |
Lisa: i agree with you 100% ANATO on DVD-A simply blew me away even though i was using a cheap system i could tolorate the Queen Boxset delay if they were releasing more Queen albums on the DVD-A format... i am very disappointed that they haven't announced which album will get the DVD-A treatment... |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 10:29 |
Dark Side of the Moon is already available! One non-Queen DVD-A I adore is Fragile by Yes. It sounds so awesome next to the CD and vinyl version. Even the sound of Steve Howe's guitar pick hitting the strings of his guitar on The Fish -- OOOH!!!! That's why I'm not-so-patiently waiting for another Queen DVD-A. Why they chose The Game as the second release isn't clear, I truly wish it had been SHA or Queen II -- think of how really beautiful Nevermore and Some Day One Day would sound! And Seven Seas of Rhye....PLEASE bring it on, Brian and Roger!! And SOON!! |
deleted user 27.06.2004 18:20 |
I agree that The Game seemed like a bit of an odd choice for the second DVD-A, but then one has to bear in mind that it's an album that is apparently very popular within the Queen camp (probably more so than among fans). |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 18:39 |
You're totally right! I've read (some Queen website a long time ago) it's Deacy's favourite of all Queen albums. It's good but not as brill as Queen II or SHA. I took the liberty of emailing Mr May with that question; let's see if I get a response. Most likely not since he's busy globetrotting for the musical. He and Roger must be SO jetlagged by now!! (I read about the merchandising for the musical on his website too. OMG, it's going to be like something KISS thought up for their last tour!! AIIIIIIEEEEEE!!!!) |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 18:40 |
Is Brian taking lessons from Gene Simmons? Stay tuned!! (LOL) |
deleted user 27.06.2004 18:49 |
Exactly. Here's a comment of Reinhold Mack on that subject (though Roger isn't included in Mack's recollections, I seem to remember - from interviews and the like - that he quite liked it as well. Brian obviously still does, as his comments on the soapbox about the DVD-A have shown). "The global result of 'The Game' was very satisfactory. John was delighted with the final appearance of the album, and Brian recognised that since 1976, when they mixed 'A Day At The Races', they hadn't done anything that good. Freddie was the one with more doubts. He wasn't unsatisfied, in fact for so long he considered Crazy Little Thing was one of his three or four best songs; but he had to make major efforts to adapt the new sound we were looking for. Years later I remember he was working for a song of 'The Miracle', an album in which I didn't participate, called Stealin', and he assured me that, seven years after 'The Game', his way of writing and arranging the tracks owed too much to the stuff we did in Munich. I feel proud of that work, it was a total of five albums we did, and they all presented a debt with 'The Game'. I can't hide it's my favourite album that I edited with Queen in which was their best era. Out of it there were also some emblematic songs that since then never were absent of each one of their concerts, like Another One Bites The Dust and Crazy Little Thing." |
Whatinthewhatthe? 27.06.2004 20:22 |
Is Mack still producing albums? It sounds like he was a little unhappy he "didn't participate" on The Miracle, and what a shame too! I think he did Queen a lot of good on the ones he did produce. You would think John would have liked Jazz better because a lot of his more lyrical/sentimental songs were featured. The Game was more successful commercially, not to mention AOBTD charted on three different types (Hot 100, Dance and R & B), something no other British group could attest to besides the Stones! |
Adam Baboolal 27.06.2004 23:16 |
Err...Mack died back in Oct/Nov 2002, I believe. Definitely. Peace, Adam. |

I didn't know that, either. Are you sure you don't confuse him with Mike Stone ? |
Adam Baboolal 28.06.2004 08:05 |
I'm sure I have the date wrong. But he definitely died because, Brian was hoping to mix The Game dvda with him and he had died some time before. Again, dates escape me. Peace, Adam. |
