Ok, guys what do you think about rock group the darkness?I think they're really sucks, beacuse they copying queen!!!and their singer sounds like some poisent mouse!
There okies, I think there a bit of every rock 70's band thrown into one...
I havent got there stuff though, so i've only heard a few songs, but he's better than Robbie W thank god!
I don't see any Queen connection other than the fact that they are fans. But, I don't like them. Something about that guy's voice rubs me the wrong way.
First came the Beatles... then Oasis
First came Pink Floyd... then Alan Parsons Project
First came Pearl Jam... then Creed
First came Queen... then The Darkness
History repeats itself.
They're not bad, their songs are decent but I wish they'd explore some other subject matter besides love...not that there's anything wrong with that but it's been proven that it is possible to write songs about other things.
I also think that Justin Hawkins has his head up his arse but other than that I quite like them. All the more because I didn't have to pay for their CD :-)
And no, I don't think that they're Queen rip-offs, they just like to tip their hats. Check out the Bo Rhap nod in the IBIATCL video.
They're ok. Justin's voice annoys me after 20 minutes of listening.
And I still don't get this Queen - Darkness thing. I don't see any similarities with Queen except that Justin also has ugly teeth.
Queen influenced? For sure.
Copying Queen? No way.
Other than the leotards, which were NOT worn EXCLUSIVELY by Mr.Mercury, and the occassion very "Queenish" riff, the Darkness are just a great REAL ROCK band. You can hear the influence of other bands in the Darkness's music as well. The beginning of "Makin' Out" sounds influenced by "Thunderstruck."
I saw the Darkness on my birthday this month and even though I had to move from the front, because of the ridiculous pushing and shoving..GRRR...I had a blast! Justin is hilarious! The Darkness RAAAAWWWWKKK!! :-)
I think the boys are fab, they have such an absolutely admirable disposition regarding what they've set out to do. They're just a buncha lads chasing their dream who want to bring back the old times when concerts were supposedly better (I wouldn't know now would I?) I also think its great that their utilising old things and showing it to a newer audience... but yeah, something about them makes me smile.
Asian concerts are fabulous, I may add. :D (VIsual Kei... yay!)
i like them.
its gd to some guys write their own stuff in these pop times. Intheir song i cant see any queenstuff related, but when it come to stage and cloth i surely can. Nice younger ppl can lern that rock isnt limp bizkit (i hate then curs i dont like rap, and the totaly raped behind blue eyes) or other crappy bands. Its funny when ppl say they dont like them they dont tell why. well keep the gd work up guys
*****
Again- I've never heard of them. Well, I've heard of them on this board, but I don't actually know anything else. I am very clueless about other music.
bought the album a few months ago, turned me into huge fan. i would not say their copying queen but they are definitely influenced by them, but how could that be bad
i think they can really write great songs anyway
Like FairyQueen said, they're a breath of fresh air in today's music world. A real good old fashioned rock band with a good sense of humour. Some of their ideas might not be so original, but I don't see any copying or imitating others. The Darkness rocks!
