Hey! This song is really cool! I really enjoy listening to it.
I'm talking about the extended version, cause I don't like the original one so much. I dunno, maybe the double voice when Roger sings 'I cry for you'.
I love it, I love it!
No Pim, no way. It is Roger IMO. I know sometimes I confuse Freddie's voice and Roger's (do you also confuse them?) but paying attention to this background vocal I can be sure by saying it's Roger.
Well to me that sounds EXACTLY like Fred in Pim's snippet.
No matter how many times I listen to it and try to hear Rog, I still hear Fred.
Interesting.
The sample is taken right from the end of the 7" remix. No adjustments to make certain elements more clear. This is the only part where I hear Freddie on the track though.
"And again, I can't hear Freddie on Killing Time :S"
Listen to the "oooooooohhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh's" during the orchestral part - it's him
I command your very EARS you unbelievers
...to check this: link
The mp3 file (stereo 44.1 kHZ/16-bit CBR 320 kbps) on that site contains the last 24 seconds from I Cry For You (7" remix) recorded from my copy of the single, cleaned a little and with a bit of compression (for vocal clarity - I know the drums sound weird).
Between 6 and 7 seconds into this recording you can clearly hear Freddie singing 'Fooor you' just after Roger. Later, on the 11-12 second interval, you can hear him again adding a low voice (this is very difficult to spot without headphones).
Funny, it took 20 years for us to realize that Freddie was on the 7" remix, but very briefly.
Btw. that sample sounds better than the one I have. To whoever has this song in that quality: Would it be possible to upload a complete copy that I could download to replace my current copy with?
I've known/thought that Freddie was in there for a long time, at least a few years. I'm sure people who were around in 1984 when the single was released also noticed it.
Well, Pim, the thing was that the single did not sell very well. I think it did not even chart.
And also, the US 7" did not have the remix either, so there are not many 7" copies still existing with that mix, and so, unless someone like Rien uploads the whole remix on his website, or Ron as well, it's not very widespread.
While we're on the subject of MP3's and website, I may as well let you guys know that I am considering purchasing server space locally so that I can set up a website dedicated solely to rare Queen MP3 downloads, but the thing is I may need to set up a link for PayPal donations (likewise with what Richard Orchard needed for Queenzone) because as it is, I do not have a job and am having a hard time getting one because right now here in Edmonton, most teens are getting out of high school for the summer this week and next week, and so they will be applying for the same jobs I've been applying for for months.
When I get more details and research done on the server here, I will let you guys know what I have in mind for space and bandwidth.
Fuck, Pim, I did not lose the job because I sued them. I filed a complaint long after I was fired, Pim. And it's none of your business why I was fired anyways
