To be honest, I has thought about that too. You have a point. For example Radio Ga Ga and A Knd Of Magic were written by Roger, but Freddie changed them a lot.
Something I have never been able to understand is how The Show Must Go On can be written by Brian.
Just look at Brian and Roger's last solo albums. I think they have it in them. But at the end of the day, it's up to the radio/public/press. And these days, it's all very unforgiving. It's all about the young folk, even if their stuff is usually all crap.
So, I guess it wouldn't happen. But they could definitely write something near enough. No-One But You is an excellent song.
Peace,
Adam.
I think they're quite capable of writing something brilliant- it's just that they haven't got the same platforms to launch their stuff from that they used to, not to mention not having Freddie to sing them! When Freddie was still alive Queen were so famous and respected that pretty much anything they wrote sounded great! These days they're seen as a bit "out of it."

I read that Brian wrote it having Freddie's illness on his mind, obviously, but wasn't quite sure whether Freddie would want to sing them or not but when he showed the lyrics to Freddie he said "Yes sure, I'll sing anything you want me to sing"
So he just tried to put himself into Freddie's position while writing it.
But do people like McCartney for his new material or because he still plays the Beatles stuff?
I'm not saying that he shouldn't, just wondering that if he only played new material, would he be as popular? Maybe, as he's more identifiable as one of the two key forces in the Beatles (not to put Mr Harrison down, but people see Paul and John as the leading lights I think).
In the same way, people don't see Brian and Roger in the same light as Fred, and it's only those who have scratched the surface further who know/realise the contribution made by all four of them.
But if Brian and Roger did tour and record more music, and even if they did it under the Queen name, I don't think they'd get the same response as McCartney does. They'd do well, but not on the same scale.
In terms of new material, I think together they could do some good stuff, but live they're out of practice now and it would take a lot to get back into it. I downloaded some tracks from the Amsterdamn gig and Roger's vocals sounded a little dodgy. I haven't listened to 46664 recently, so can't comment on that.
I'm sure they've got it in them, but they'd have to work hard, and I don't think they want to at the moment, 'cause we all know where Brian's priorities are! So I say it's possible, but as everyone else has said, it's difficult without Fred
It's IMPOSSIBLE, because of bloody musical...
The whole energy goes basically there, and... Later on may be too late- but I would love to be mistaken! I've heard Bri said once about recording some blues album- WOULD LOVE THAT IDEA!!! Recently I listened to STAR FLEET album again and God, it's such a great piece of music!!!
Oberon has a point. If they didn't play all the legendary songs that made them popular they'd have half the success they have now.
Same with Joe Strummer. Why did he call his band Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros and not only The Mescaleros? And why did half of his set include Clash classics? Because it's that what people wanted to hear when they went to see Joe Strummer live 25 years after The Clash.
Same with Paul McCartney I suppose.
I think if the two of them took a break from the musical and really listened to all the studio albums, maybe some ideas would come up. If they did and the material got released, I think it would be welcome only by Queen fans (of course, we might be skeptical at first, but if they did anything, it might be quite good) - I doubt anyone else would care.
