Got it today. All I can say is that there are no extras on the dvd (not where I looked), but that the sound and vision are surely better than on the bootleg DVD.

Are you sure? Im pretty positive anything live from 1984 and 1985 sucked (Not counting Live aid)
I'm not comparing it with e.g. Live At Wembley Stadium. I'm just comparing the two versions of this concert. Overall it's too dark, but comparing the two... the japanese version is surely...well rather better.
Is the mix any better than anything that has been previously released? If so, I'd be interested.
Can you post a link to a certain part of a song? I can do the same for the mix I have and it'll make for a good comparison. Up for it?
Peace,
Adam.
Yes, but where are you all buying the japanese stuff from???
Not HMV Japan, surely?
Their carriage (to the UK) costs more than the items themselves!!!!
Hehe, HMV shipping is a bit pricey since they only use FedEx for international, but it's fast and reliable.
When I get 3 card sleeves, the shipping is only slightly less than the cost of one disc.. however, the disc prices work out to be more reasonable than other places so it balances out. For 3 card sleeves, it runs me about $30 each shipped, which is still less than some domestic sites' price before shipping. (But I'm in the U.S., maybe it's worse in the UK or elsewhere)
This link is very helpful -- and very affordable on Japanese Queen imports! link
The Jewels DVD is $30 US dollars, Final Live is listed at $34.51 US dollars, and you can even preorder next month's Greatest Karaoke Flix 1 and 2 for $41.51 US dollars (hurry, only 3 left!!). And if all else fails there's Ebay. I'm quite the customer of Norifumi (RisingSunRecords). He's a terrific seller!
I tried to make some audiofiles from the two versions of this dvd. To be honest, on my tv the Japanese version sounded better. When I made two mp3 files with audiograbber on my pc, the bootleg version sounded better than the japanese version. And this while playing the dvd's with PowerDVD the Japanese version sounded better.
Someone's getting slightly mad over here.
:-)
Advise on shipping on CdJapan.co.jp: choose the Registered Airmail. EMS is Global Priority and quite expensive. I checked USPS.com (US Postal Service website) before preordering GKF 1 & 2 and there is a huge difference in shipping prices!
(Looking forward to July now!)
