I was taking a break from posting, but this is such a thrilling discussion I just had to jump in.
I'll always blame for VH1 for starting the whole corner logo craze. Perhaps they weren't the very first, but they're the first I remember seeing.
I don't mind the logos so much anymore, but now it's these idiotic 'crawls' that drive me nuts. I remember an SNL sketch a few years back where they made fun of MSNBC's over-use of screen graphics by continuing to add stuff until you couldn't even see the news anchor anymore. Sadly, that joke has nearly become reality.

Nothing wrong with infobars, if you are in a hurry andjust need a two sentance synopsis of the news and/or just can't be arsed to sit through an entire bulletin. However what really irks me is when a huge news alert flashes on screen for something that is actually quite insignificant, causing you to stop whatever you are doing and rush over to the screen for no good reason. Sky News viewers should know what I'm talking about!
