Okay, the "New Queen Album"-topic was the drop. I'm getting more and more annoyed by these newbies complaining about the older members making fun of them. I was reading the topic "New Queen Album" with a big smile on my face, just because of the vivid imagination some of my friends have and to see that some people can be even dumber and more naive than I thought. I believe someone opened that topic because he heard a rumour that Brian and Roger were working on a New Album, "Made In Heaven" style. I also read these rumours about Brian and Roger working on 5 more tracks for the 46664 and at least one track which has Freddie on vocals. I was also very delighted to hear/read that, but with Queen you never know, so I continued my normal life. This was the only info that was brought out and it still was only rumour. The guy was free to ask some more info about it and he even got it. Okay, it was meant as a joke, but what happened after that quite disturbed me. Some people really believe everything they read!!! They keep asking asking questions about the so called "Two Worlds Apart"-song. It would have been ok if they were asking for some more info about the song, but all they keep asking about is: "Awww, please share this song with us.", "Please sent me a sample of the song." In the topic it was said that the particular demo was spread only amongst these so-called "elite traders". Doesn't that ring a bell?!?!?!?! Why would Queen production do that?!!?!?! The problems is that some people are always asking for files that other people have worked hard for to get. They keep asking, please upload an MP3 of the studio-quality "Self Made Man" or "Two Worlds Apart". I bet most of these people haven't even heard of a song "Man On The Prowl" by Queen. "What song??? "Man On The Prowl"??? That must be a very rare hard to get Queen Demo from the early seventies." "No!!! It isn't, it's on the 1984 album "The Works" You can get it in shops, you know. Ah yes, you can also download it from filesharing-programs. Do what you like." These people are allready asking for demo's and outtakes before they have even heard Queen's fully officially released repertoire. It's really easy to get. These people have an internet connection, otherwise they wouldn't post here. So that means you can also access internet-shops (in case you can't buy Queen + Solo CD's at your local music store or when they can't order it for you.), it's all really easy to get (the official stuff). If you have heard most of the official stuff and IF (I don't think that will happen) you get bored with that, than you can look for something else about your favorite Band. Solo stuff is nice, but if you don't like it, you might try bootlegs. After that maybe even Demo's and outtakes or different song versions. Most important: DO SOME WORK FOR IT!!!! Don't ask: "Hey, I've heard that something like this exsists, can somebody upload it???" I'm a bootleg trader for about 2 years now and I've never asked someone if they could send me this and that. I started from the beginning, which means: Doing research on what's out there and how to get it. I also invested time and money in it. Two years ago I only had two "original" pressed bootleg CD's. That cost me around 100 euro's. See I invested money to start my collection. Btw, I allready invested money in buying all the official Queen Albums. I admit, "Queen at the BBC" was hard to get, but with some time and patience you'll be able to get it. After the money the time comes into play. I spent hours negociating and researching on the available bootlegs. Take a look at my site, what my Bootleg collection (though, not an up to date list) looks like now. You are also complaining about stuff to be very expensive. I believe I allready said it in a to |

Don't be so cruel to newbies Paul! We all started like that. :D |
Pim Derks 01.06.2004 14:42 |
And indeed, I intended my first post in the particular topic to be a one-time post, just meant as a short joke.... But when 'fans' believe it whole-heartly, who am I not to work the joke out a bit more with the help of some friends? :D |
pma 01.06.2004 15:02 |
fuk u! u r shit! u shud upload teh songz for meh B4 eye smoke ur ass bitch! :-P Anyway, let's all just take it easy. I admit to being easily amused and get my cheap laughs from these "Man In The Shadows" type of topics. Sad, I know. |

That was a wonderful post, Plengel, except for one tiny little hole in the logic. Some of us do not HAVE 100 euros, or the equivalent, to spend on such things. It's hard to invest a lot of money in bootleg trading when your sole source of income is babysitting. Help out the children a bit, it makes you feel good. Not trying to say that we should give people bootleg welfare checks, but would it really be so difficult to help a person out for free every so often? Not every time they ask, just a boost. I do agree that the oldbie vs. newbie thing is getting old and tired. Can't we just all be friends? Wait - don't answer that. Let me amend it. Can't we all, with only a few exceptions, at least pretend to like each other? I ain't looking for World War III to begin when the former champions and royalties start assassinating each other. |

Yeah, we're sad :) |

Plengel, I really wonder where you find the time and energy to get all worked up over something so utterly unimportant. But it's your good right so do continue if you feel like. Meanwhile, I'm gonna listen to Teo Torriate (Let Us Cling Together For Crying Out Loud!). |

Plengel does have a good point though. Apparently it's easier to drop any question here (no matter how stupid it sometimes is), instead of searching for info on the internet or perhaps even books.... Or to buy official albums, it's probably easier (and cheaper) to ask for copies, bootlegs and downloads. I think it's a huge difference between younger and older fans, the younger ones are used to get everything right away, cos it's all there already. They want it all, they want it now!! First everyone is waiting for a dvd to be released, and then when it's finally released it seems they hardly even take the time to watch it, they immediately start talking about the next dvd... When I was a kid and a teen, I actually had to wait for at least a year before a new album was released. I didn't have money either, I had to save money, like most people btw. I don't see anything wrong with that either. Plengel, I do agree with you. Although I also think that they can't really help it. It's probably a sign of the times, they are used to downloading, instead of buying, etc. I hope you know what I mean. It's a whole different time. But I wouldn't mind a bit less of those topics that I never answer to but that make my toes curl. |

Rien 01.06.2004 17:06 |
I wonder how much some people that "don't have 100 euros" to spend, spend in a pub or on their mobile phones every month... (btw I don't disagree with having fun that way of course). And they could at least try to buy the original albums. They must admit there's an awful lot to get for free through the Internet. |

Great Plengel. AC is with you. |

While I agree with some of what was said, isn't it a bit of a stretch to assume that those fans who believed the Two Worlds Apart story are lazy and don't own all of Queen's CDs? Yeah, I hate it when "fans" ask for free downloads, regardless if it's rare or not, and it's tiresome when they ask questions that could easily be found with a quick internet search. But it is possible to be a good fan and still not have heard of every rare song or have found bootlegs readily available. Being naive about something does not mean you are lazy. |
iron eagle 01.06.2004 20:26 |
they should also pay their posting dues on time too! i too would think not all are lazy also -- i remember my first foray into the net, didnt know how much of it worked (talking PC here) and hell even what you could actually do or find on the internet-- i came here, was the first place i found---- i heard about so many items and things i didnt know about- so i would ask-- usually with the preface-- hey it may sound stupid but ... |
dragonzflame 01.06.2004 20:30 |
I like Queen. But I hardly own any of their 80s stuff and most of what I know comes of GHII. And I don't particularly want to buy the ones I'm missing (many of which here cost the same as a just-released album), and I'm not particularly interested in rare outtakes. Am I still a fan? |
NoOneButMe 01.06.2004 20:40 |
Dear Friends !!! Well, I have been a Queen Fan since 1981 here in Mexico, as you know in this part of the world is difficult to find strange items of our band, but I own the entire official CD catalogue and LPs, some original bootlegs, solo albums and things like that, plus other original and strange CDs that maybe you don't heard, but as someone says, even being a long time fan doesn't mean that you have listened to everything about Queen. So give a chance to every new Queen Fan in here, and bye the way, you can download tons of strange, rare, hidden and new material in the QUEEN HUB, so I suggest to get connected to it and you can feel like there is a HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE !!!! I think a lot of us, long time Queen collectors, start like Plengel, keeping some money tho buy the next year long play when we were younger, but why don't share it with other Queen Fans, I feel this like a family, a great family that is growing constantly, of course everyone can have their own opinion, and this is mine and I will share all my strange material with all Queen members in the HUB, even if there is a Two Worlds Apart song or not. Just remember, QUEEN is the best band, ever, so let us be the BEST QUEEN FANS !!!! Friends will be friends, right till the end........... |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 01.06.2004 22:59 |
"Am I still a fan?" Not as much as me, I can guarantee. Anyway, would you care to be so? I guess not :) "Oh don't try so hard Oh don't take it all to heart" Peace, buddies ;) Cheers, Ogre- PS: Ok, I was tempted to continue singing that part of the song, but I thought somebody could take the "fools" part of the lyric as personal. So, as no harm was intended, and I only meant a joke, I edited it out. :) |

Plengel, I think its quite pathetic when someone tries to elevate his status by claiming to be to more important than others because of the time and effort he has put into his collection. Give me a break. Some of us have lives! Being nice to someone doesn't cost 100 euros. If you are not interested in helping newbies then just keep quiet. |

It wasn't just newbies who fell for it though, a certain Canadian fell for it hook, line and sinker. But that was bloody obvious anyway. |
Pim Derks 02.06.2004 13:16 |
that certain Canadian guy mailed me if he could purchase the track/sample for $0.26 Canadian dollars - as that was all he had left in his PayPal account :D |
