Today I received the WWRY Spanish Cast cd. I must say, it really sounds great, or at least very good. Powerful voices (Killer Queen could do a bit better) and the music is great. I do not speak Spanish, so I don't know in what manner the lyrics are translated, but the songs do sound just wonderful and everything seems to fit. I do not recall any Spanish members of this board having told us their experiences about the lyrics e.g. Any comments from that part of the world? |

Rien, please could you upload the Queen + Eva Maria "Solo Por Ti" track? |
Rien 22.05.2004 12:35 |
At the moment I'm not promising anything. (Being an official release and all that) btw my site is offline until the beginning of June. (thanks to 35GB of download in 10 days...) Without the intention of making someone feel bad of not having the track - the studio version of Solo Por Ti sounds really great. (Has some nice orchestral arrangements in it.) Though I've read here that not everyone is waiting for Spanish versions of the Queen songs, I just think that the songs do sound great in this language. |
Daz85 23.05.2004 09:59 |
Whatever you can do about making the track available would be most appreciated :-) |

I haven't brought the CD but I downloaded "Solo por ti" through Emule, so you could be able to do the same. I have to say, that this song has being covered (by Queen itself) awesomely, it's very touching and the translation is very accurate and sweet. I must say, great job there. |

I found it there too,but I couldn't download a single song from that bloody program yet!!!!!!. |
YourValentine 25.05.2004 04:15 |
It's in the h**, Darren :) |
Daz85 25.05.2004 08:22 |
Thanks UV, but someone has already helped me out ;-) |
L-R-TIGER1994 25.05.2004 17:04 |
YEAH!!!!!!It finally downloaded at last. Sounds really good, the translation is excellent. |

I just got the CD-Single in the mail yesterday. Although I won't be learning anymore Espanol until the next school year (starting just before Sept.), I find this to be a very sweet song and can understand a few little words so far (but I don't understand what the title means!) |
L-R-TIGER1994 26.05.2004 19:18 |
It means exactly Only for you. |
Penis - Vagina 26.05.2004 19:29 |
I'm partial to Japanese translations myself. "I'm Going Slightly Mad" is "Overture To Insanity". How great is that? |
Maz 26.05.2004 23:35 |
Finally heard this song. Hate it. |
Rien 27.05.2004 02:20 |
are you intelligent enough to find some more words to explain to us why you hate it? |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 27.05.2004 09:35 |
Easy, fellows ;) Well, I don't like the version either. It does not have enough guitar, drums or other recognisable Queen sound to it. It Looks like a very good vocal demo, waiting for Brian and Roger to come to the studio and do their part. Anyhow, it may grow on me, who knows? Cheers, Ogre- |
Maz 27.05.2004 12:57 |
"are you intelligent enough to find some more words to explain to us why you hate it?" Why the cheap shot, Rien? I've never levelled a insult in your direction. Well, for your benefit, since apparently attacking the musical in any way, shape, or form is not allowed, here's why I think the song was utter crap and waste of my time: This sounds like any other Queen cover done by a foreign act. It is uninspired and routine, albeit translated so as to convey an "exotic" feel. Is that enough to warrant my hatred? No. What makes this so particular bad is that QP decide to waste their time (and fans' money) on the a rather pedestrian version of a rather pedestrian song. NOBY is far from Queen's best to begin with (unless you want to be blinded by the sentiment of the song); this new "song" is an insult. How is this any different than any other Queen cover I've heard from no-name artists in the last 10 years? It has the QP seal of approval on it. I can only hope, Rien, that that response was "intelligent" enough for you. But basically, you can shorten that paragraph into two words: Hate It. |
Rien 27.05.2004 14:18 |
ok... I just read the word "intelligence" in your post, so I used that. I find it just too easy to say only "hate it" when one gives ones opinion. Of course you don't have to like this song. You sure can make up your own mind. And I agree that (in almost all cases) there is nothing better than the original. I did not want to offend you. I should have put my remark in some other way, because perhaps my reply was too easy also. For some people I have made the track Solo Por Ti available. There's a short and a long version. I believe they did put some extra work in it, because of the orchestral arrangements. Again, I prefer the original version. The Spanish cast cd is overall really good I think. The songs do sound okay to me in most cases. Here you have the link. link |
Maz 27.05.2004 18:38 |
No offense taken, just seemed out of character and I was taken aback a bit. |
NoOneButMe 30.05.2004 20:49 |
Well, about this new Solo Por Ti (No One But You) version, it's really great, believe me, I am from Mexico, so my native language is Spanish, and I can tell you that the translation of the song is the same, it has the same meaning and pratically the same words but in different languages, just a little bit different ones to fit the metric of the song.... The version sounds incredible, the orchestration arrangment is great, I think they wouldn't do something similar to the WWRY London cast, but just something different; the voice of Eva Maria Cortes is very sweet, I am sorry that most of you don't understant all the words in Spanish, but the song touched me in a very special way, for being a Queen song, and for being in Spanish, so, Rein, I hope you can upload some versions of this WWRY Madrid cast for us, it would be really nice to have those versions of Queen songs in Spanish, at least for me. Adios Amigos !!! |
Rien 31.05.2004 04:18 |
edited. temporary site has now only link to my main site. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 01.06.2004 09:21 |
Thanks a million, Rien! :D I couldn't wait untill I could buy the album. BTW, of course I'll buy it in the coming months, there is a "Queen" official song in it. Cheers, Ogre- PS: I couldn't find the 4th song at first, but... It finally happened! Oh, yes! :) |
Pim Derks 01.06.2004 11:54 |
Thanks for sharing Rien. It's a bit too classical for my taste though - and I'm not really fond of the singing. Sounds way better to me than the UK soundtrack of the musical though :) |
Daburcor? 01.06.2004 12:03 |
Thank you for sharing the tracks Rien, But, i too will have to pass on liking this one... |
Rien 01.06.2004 14:56 |
No problem. But I really did not want to share this song actually, being just released. People should buy these things if they want them (see that "newbies" post...) I did buy the album, because it's an official Queen release and I really wanted to hear these songs in Spanish. Brian seems very pleased with Solo Por Ti and I really believe they did put a lot of work in it. I think it was Pim who made a remark about the original track and indeed that original one is very very powerful and has the right feeling in it. But I do want to let people hear these tracks, that's why I included two songs from the musical. It perhaps invites people to buy the album (??). |
NoOneButMe 02.06.2004 01:45 |
Hi Rein !!! Thanks for sharing those songs from the Spanish WWRY Cast, of course I wanto to get the original CD, but I can't wait until then to hear those Queen songs in Spanish, they have an excellent translation, almost the same as what the original lyrics are. I hope there can be some other songs while I can get that item. Well, thanks again, see you!!! |
inu-liger 05.06.2004 18:59 |
It should be noted that on Solo Por Ti, the brushes are done by Keith Prior, and sticks by Roger Taylor, so only 1/3 of the song actually involves Queen (although some would still disagree that 2 members of Queen are not Queen - shame on you people!), which disappoints me. And I feel this lacks a lot of guitars as well IMO |
Rien 05.06.2004 20:19 |
btw I've added 3 more tracks from the album. |
