Does anyone else notice that in the 70's Queen would always seem to get dreadful reviews and reporters were just nasty to them no matter what. But then when Freddie died, he went from a disgusting ogre to "a terrific performer and blah blah blah" I know they say you're never appreciated until you're dead - but that's ridiculous! Does anyone else feel the way I do? Am I completely alone in this?
Not really
70's they were techincally "New", most reviews-1 song-1 Album
by time Freddie died they have done everything as a band and the press reviewed it in a total package view and not a singular view like certain songs or certain albums.
You see that in a lot of Bands, unless the press totally hate's them, and will always get bad reviews even in the end.
Queen was always getting slammed by the press. I've looked back and read old Rolling Stone reviews, and they hated Queen! It does seem like a lot of articles completely changed their stance after Freddie died, but then again, critics are always harsh, especially with Queen, who were not really the norm in music.
