What are your favorite vocals from Freddie, Brian, and Roger? Roger - Tenement Funster or I'm In Love With My Car Brian - Some Day, One Day or Sail Away Sweet Sister Freddie - I have no clue. Right now, I love Teo Torriatte, The Show Must Go On and You Take My Breath Away, but Somebody To Love, We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody and White Queen (As It Began) are still great. |

Yes really. In case you hadn't noticed, they sing harmonies in those songs. And I admire much more those harmonies than any lead vocal they made |

>> Brian - Teo Torriate Brian didn't sing that, Freddie did. >> John: Procession (wow,a huge voice!) This is a bad mistake for two reasons. First of all, there are no vocals in Procession. Second of all, JOHN NEVER SANG!!! |
Sebastian 09.05.2004 11:42 |
Jorge was obviously joking about the Procession thing As for 'Teo': Fred sings lead vocals, and all the harmonies in the middle eight. Roger sang a harmony in the chorus before that middle eight. Brian does a - very beautiful btw - counterpoint harmony vocal the two first times the chorus is sang in Japanese. And THAT vocal part (even though it's not the lead) is my favourite from Brian. |

Freddie: 3-way tie between "The Millionaire Waltz," "Love of My Life," and "Don't Stop Me Now." Brian: "Sail Away Sweet Sister" Roger: "More of that Jazz" And don't forget about John's spectacular one-word performance on the Live Magic album during "A Kind of Magic." You know, the part that goes..."magic, magic, magic, MAGIC!" That's John's greatest vocal, the last "magic." I least it sounds like it could be John anyway :) (Although I've heard that they didn't even turn on his mike during live shows) |
Daburcor? 09.05.2004 16:33 |
Freddie - The Show Must Go On Brian - Business Roger - Foreign Sand John - On the "Magic Years" doc, Where he puts the megaphone up to his mouth and says "Another one bites the dust...". Hoooo yeah... ;D |

Brian - of course Long Away and 39, they are great!!! Freddie - Love Of My Life (ANATO), a perfect vocal interpretation Roger - Rock It, but I also love the bit when he sings "We've got criminals living in this street" |

Question to Sebastian: Would you, then, rather like a song without a lead vocal? (As in, 100% harmony) That makes me curious... because I think Queen is a lead-vocal-based band, although with beautiful harmonies. Do you have any suggestions as to other bands who have a lot of harmonies? I'm looking out for other bands to listen to right now and your suggestions will be appreciated. (I like the Beatles harmony - great vocals! But that's about the only band I listen to often, other than Queen..) For me (who is a big sucker for beautiful LEAD vocals): Roger - definitely Rock It Prime Jive Brian - Long Away Freddie - I Can't Live With You and Hang On In There for now. |
FriedChicken 10.05.2004 16:57 |
"Do you have any suggestions as to other bands who have a lot of harmonies? " Try like, almost every 60's band The Byrds The Beach Boys and so on :) |

Freddie: You Take My Breath Away Brian: Long Away Roger: I'm In Love With My Car - live (such as the WWRY DVD version.. he sounds so powerful and overblown without sounding bad) John: He has such a cute voice in interviews. |

Freddie - All his songs Brian - Leaving Home Ain't Easy Roger - uhm.... John - ????????????? |
Sebastian 11.05.2004 07:17 |
I do put a lot more attention in backing vocals than lead, and I do prefer the harmonies, but that doesn't mean I think lead vocal is unnecesary. Songs can be good without harmonies ('Spread Your Wings', ' Imagine'), but without lead a lot don't make any sense. I don't discuss the importance here, but the taste. And in my taste, I prefer to hear a dozen Freddies doing an angelical choir (e.g. 'White Queen') than the lead one. |
mr bad guy 5656 11.05.2004 12:34 |
Freddie: I love everything Freddie sang, though it depends of my mood. Brian: '39 Roger: Drowse John: :s It's such a shame John couldn't sing, but hey, that's life ;). Haha! |
