I haven't been to the board in quite a while, so I apologize if this question has been asked recently. Has there been any news on when the next DVD-A will be release and which album it will be?
If my memory serves right the 1st two DVD-A's have come out around the April/May months. I haven't heard anything a bout a new DVD-A so are there no immediate plans to release a new DVD-A album?
Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Carlos
Nothing's been mentioned lately.
There was lots of speculation on QZ many months ago about what would be next, but nothing has come from QP. My guess is that they are concerned more with their DVDs than DVD-As.
Greg Brooks hinted at that a Queen II DVD-A might be considered for the future in an article for 'Record Coleector' a couple of years back. (Then again, he also metioned something about a box set of some sort). It goes without saying that a Queen II DVD-A would be rather good (so long as they use a much better re-master than those on the CD versions).
I really doubt if there will be more then 5 DVD-A's
1.5 years ago they started on the 2 dvds, and now, they're not working on anything new, So if every 2 albums take about 1.5 years, well have the 5th one somewhere in 2006 or something.
by that time there will be a whole new technology and DVD-A will be outdated.
"(so long as they use a much better re-master than those on the CD versions)."
ALL the new DVD-A material was transfered from the master tapes and completely remixed and remastered. It's a "goes without saying" thing...
And Fried, why do you believe that we'll just dump DVD-A when a new technology comes along? Don't you think it has a longer life than that?! And what would replace it?
Peace,
Adam.
The music industry won't just "dump" the new formats as some suggest. They are seriously pushing them. "Artists" such as Britney Spears (and other poppers) coming out on DVd-Audio is bound to gain mainstream popularity for the format (atleast that's what they expect) link
I'm shamefully interested to hear that one...
TG and ANATO were one of Queen's best selling records and I think that's why they got a DVD-A treatment. I dont think we are ever getting all their albums in 5.1 (well maybe within 20 years)
yes please! sacd's are better and easier to use in my opinion. just put them in the tray and you immediatly have 5.1. while when you insert a dvd, you first have to go through menus and stuff
ok, a dvd-a can contain some extras but I normally buy an audio disc for audio stuff and not for videos etc
