Hi, I have now found out the link between Ice Ice Baby & Queen. The song used the tune of Under Pressure. I found it out on a ringtones advert on MTV as Ice Ice Baby being one of the tones. Also,in a video game called Grand Theft Auto:Vice City there is a hotel called The Deacon Hotel now either the makers of the game are besotted Queen fans or they thought they could give John Deacon his own hotel(3star probably!!) O.K now I'm asking you all about your favourite Queen videos from each decade.
70's:Bohemian Rhapsody(obviously!)
80's: A Kind Of Magic,The Miracle & The Invisible Man
90's: The Show Must Go On & I'm Going Slightly Mad.
Freddie's:The Great Pretender
SPEAK TO ME!
If this is true, Queen should sue that guy who did 'Ice Ice Baby'. I can't believe this!
And surely that hotel is named after John. After all, 'Deacon' is a very rare name.
Thanks for alerting us to this stuff!

It's Vanila ICE and he had a number one record in 1991 all over the world.
Terrible isn't it.

There actually was lots of controversy over the sampled "Under Pressure" riff when "Ice, Ice Baby" started to skyrocket in popularity. Vanilla Ice even tried to defend himself (to hilarious results), claiming that the two riffs were different by comparing both "ding-ding-ding-di-di-ding-ding" basslines.
Anyway, people soon realized that Vanilla Ice was a phony and the whole issue lost steam...and there you go. It's just unfortunate that this association had to occur in the first place. Case in point: I've heard people chuckle when hearing the intro to "Under Pressure" because they think it's actually "Ice, Ice Baby." Bah.
"To the Extreme" my ass.

Aaargh! That advert annoys me. Sooo much. Almost to the point where I have to change the channel.
It's the UP bassline, and they bloody well go and call it "Ice Ice Baby" for godsakes...
Off Amazon.com about 'To the Extreme'
"No matter what he does, Vanilla Ice, or "VI" as he's known to people on the streets, is a creative force to be reckoned with. For instance, many said he ripped of that bass line from Queen in his hit song, but that's a load of junk - Ice made that up himself!!"
Yeah, and I'm John Deacon!
Hahaha
Yesterday, on VH1 in the US, they had that VH1 and Blender's 50 Worst Songs Ever or whatever it's called, and anyway, "Ice Ice Baby" was number 5 and they COMPLETELY beat up Vanilla Ice over stealing the UP bassline. I laugh at him... I mean, what self-respecting white boy trying to be a rapper actually says, "word up to your mother"?!
:D

I can't BELIEVE they put "We Didn't Start The Fire" on that list!!!! >:(
