Steve London's "Dear Friends" I have sorted out the behind the scenes mechanics, so hopefully new songs will be added more regularly. |
| YourValentine 06.05.2004 06:31 |
This is one of my favourite Queen ballads and it's incredibly difficult to sing. A great performance and a very welcome addition to the growing collection! |
| Mr Coolest Cat 06.05.2004 07:01 |
I must disagree with the previous poster, i think this is one of Queen's easiest songs to sing, it just goes to show some people can't sing. |
| Adam Baboolal 06.05.2004 07:48 |
Bit of a comedown after getting Vinou's track. I have to agree with Harv, it's very easy to sing. But who cares?! |
| Mr Coolest Cat 06.05.2004 15:51 |
Well said Adam, who cares, certainly not me. |
| Hitman 06.05.2004 16:25 |
I like it :) .It has feeling! |
| iron eagle 06.05.2004 21:54 |
when still in acting i would use Dear Friends many times in auditons for musicals nice job! |
| Richard Orchard 06.05.2004 22:56 |
I like it too! |
| Adam Baboolal 06.05.2004 23:09 |
When I said, "who cares" I was referring to the point in debating. It's a like it or don't like it situation. Peace, Adam. |

Harvey Goldsmith wrote: I must disagree with the previous poster, i think this is one of Queen's easiest songs to sing, it just goes to show some people can't sing.Oh, stop being such an elitist prig. Forgive my snappy mood, but you don't get to decide who can and can't sing. I'd love to hear some of these, but opening Adam's mp3 just about finished my seven-year-old computer off. I really ought to get a new computer. |
| Mr Coolest Cat 09.05.2004 08:32 |
I think im entitled to my opinion as you are yours, and i don't think the song as been sung very well, in fact very poorly. |
| deleted user 09.05.2004 09:19 |
I have to agree with Harvey. It's not well sung. The piano however is good. |
| Sebastian 09.05.2004 11:47 |
It's ok for a demo. I get the feeling that it was kind of a one-take recording. I think that guy could do a way better version if he records the piano first and then compiles a vocal track (I mean, if he has some mistake, he repeats that part, etc). His voice is pretty good, so he can go much further if he wants to |

"I have to agree with Harvey. It's not well sung. The piano however is good. " The piano is a midi track |
| Adam Baboolal 10.05.2004 15:19 |
The piano is a midi track? Really? Eeek. EDIT: oops, I thought I was posting in another thread. It was pretty obvious that it was a simple midi piano sound on this one. Peace, Adam. |

Mixed Reactions then. It took them a while to add it, but they done it in the end, cheers rich and barb, and all for your comments. cheers from steve |
| FriedChicken 10.05.2004 16:51 |
hey steve, Keep up the good work! "Don't let 'em get you down!" |
| stevelondon22 10.05.2004 16:53 |
cheers mate. And thanx everyone for your lovely comments and emails! I'm currently in the process of recording an album. That song is one of my favourites. And is the only song on the album which is a cover! A lot of people said it wasnt well sung, thanks for your comments. I just thought i'd have a bash!!! regards, steve |

I managed to get on a different computer, and Steve, I love it. It's obvious that you love this song. Accept my apology, Harvey, I think I misunderstood you. I'd like to sumbit something to this, I have a good number of tapes available. But I have no good recording equipment and a shitty computer, I can't see myself trying to fit it there. |

You were right the first time, Geeks. |
| Mr Coolest Cat 11.05.2004 09:29 |
Now, now Miss America. It's nice to see some people are decent enough to admit when they are mistaken, unlike some others i could mention, but i won't, they know who they are. |
| sir vinou 11.05.2004 12:08 |
this song is one of my favorite queen's ballad, though it s not a freddie's one ... Steve's version is really charming ...good job.. |
| PD. 11.05.2004 16:05 |
"The piano is a midi track" I admit I have not released it for first. Even thought the midi track (as I guess) was sequenced by me (seven years ago). |
| geeksandgeeks 11.05.2004 16:31 |
Harvey, relax, mate. You could have put that a little better in your first post. It sounded like you were saying that someone could not sing if they thought Dear Friends was a tough song. I happen to find it very tough, it's well outside my comfortable range. That's why I went off on you. |
| stevelondon22 12.05.2004 07:17 |
ok its not the hardest song to sing, but it damn sure aint the easiest! and that midi was first sequenxed by my good friend toshiya, who has several midis at his disposal. And i asked him for permission first. So there you go. -------------------------------------------------- breast feeding myself, WHAT MORE CAN I SAY??? XXX |
| stevelondon22 12.05.2004 07:27 |
I JUST THOUGHT, BIT MAD INNIT. I've been coming here for ovefr two years now and have only sent 41 posts!!!! sorry, just thought i'd share that with ya lol -------------------------------------------------- BACK TO HUMANS!!! |
| Oberon 12.05.2004 07:36 |
Steve, it just means you don't churn out endless drivel and probably don't enter into perpetually pointless arguments which can't be resolved 'cause it's all about personal tastes and emotions!!! We're all guilty of it, but some more than others. Of course, and before the hard core old timers jump on my back, there are members who contribute a lot of entertaining and/or imformative posts!! Long may they continue to do so!! There, is that enough of an on the fence, hedge your bets, PC kinda answer? |
| PD. 12.05.2004 12:05 |
> and that midi was first sequenxed by my good friend toshiya, > who has several midis at his disposal. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fighting for my perhaps undeserved share of fame, but I still belive that the miditrack that you have used was sequenced by me. Note that Toshiya's own webpage does not include "Dear Friends" among his self-sequenced midis. link If you look into that midi file via file-view you may find a line: "PD feb20-21 1997" If I was right I don't blame you nor Toshiya and you are wellcomed to have use that midifile. If I was wrong, sorry. |
| stevelondon22 13.05.2004 07:19 |
i promise ya mate, it is defintly toshiyas midi. I did ask himn for permission aswell. So umust be mistaken. Sorry!! |

It's really good but the timing is off. Other than that, no complaints! |
| stevelondon22 18.05.2004 19:17 |
the timing? i used sync pro beta to sync my voice with the song. So it should be ok. any1 else feel the timing is off??? |
