Some of you probably know about Ron Atkinson's recent comments that led to the git being fired. Here's another commentating f**k-up that was posted on another forum that I've now stolen for your entertainment. Not fatty standard I know, but let's face it, queenzone went pear shaped long ago:
"I was listening to the one day international cricket commentary from St Lucia on Talk Sport in the car tonight when Jack Bannister was bemoaning some male members of the "Barmy Army" for being dressed only in skimpy bikinis.
In pipes the non politicially correct former England captain Tony Greig, 'I've drunk with some of those boys before and they are 100% heterosexual, definitely no poofters amongst them!'
Cue stunned silence from JB before declaring, 'I hope the phone lines are well staffed tonight.'"
It ain't the same since old Johnners left for the big commentary box in the sky, but there is something quintessentially English about cricket on the radio...
When the sun is out, it makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon sat in t'garden with the wireless on. A prawn sarnie or two, more than a drop of cold sparkling Chenin Blanc, the chance of a tumble with the new stable lass (wonderful thighs) and a happier rogue than old Flash you'd be hard pressed to find.
Only one cricket fan in the building then? Too many peasants and not enough absentee landlords I'm afraid.
Anyway, Flash, did you ever cross the Biffin Bridge at boarding school?
Wait, wait..Johnners?
Well Tony Greig..he could swing both ways, was a useful tail ender, used to bat for the other side..just like the time David Hookes hit him for four fours. Best ever..crumby English cricket.
