Here's the deal: I have Queen, Sheer Heart-Attack, ANATO, ADATR, News of the World, Live Killers, and Greatest Hits I+II. What should I buy. I'm considering Made in Heaven, Queen II, or The Game. Tell me what you think. |
Kickforce 01.05.2004 18:00 |
Queen 2 for sure, you'll love this album. |
Daburcor? 01.05.2004 18:26 |
I'll say Queen II as well. You need it. ;D |

Queen II!! |
bleeding heart show 01.05.2004 19:18 |
Made in heaven : Emotional album with alot of great tracks some of them are remakes by the band and Freddies versions of his/others solo material. Song Highlights: Made in heaven, Mother love(Freddies last song), You don't fool me, I was born to love you. Queen II : To me it has a gothic and dark feeling to it similar to Queen "the 1st album" in the songs style but ALOT better and an awesome album in all. Song Highlights: White queen, Ogre battle, Nevermore, March of the black queen. The game: A rocky album with great tracks, includes 2 of their major hits in it and it's also the first album for Queen to use synths in it and the result turned out to be excellent. Song Highlights: Play the game, Need your loving tonight, Save me, Crazy little thing called love, Dragon attack. Conclusion: if you really want my opinion BUY THEM ALL AT ONCE :D but if you want to go one step at a time then start with Queen II then The game then MIH. They are all worth it and I now you're gonna buy them all sooner or later !!but you should start in that respective 'cause these albums are like a story i dont think when you read one you start from the last chapter then move the beginning.......u get my point. I know I've babbled alot but i hope i was a bit helpful !! take care |

HOT SPACE!!! or, if talking seriosly - Queen II. |

Queen II or Hot Space... Actually, I suggest Jazz. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 01.05.2004 20:50 |
I would save Made In Heaven for last, sort of to finish all the albums. I would get Queen II, but The Game is good. It's not as solid as some of the other albums, but it's still a great album. |
AaronG 01.05.2004 21:54 |
Yeah have to agree, MIH I would personally purchase last as good as it is, it's not really a FULL Queen album. |
Saint Jiub 02.05.2004 00:31 |
I find MIH to be one of the best Queen albums (top half anyway) |
Brandon 02.05.2004 00:54 |
But above Queen II, Mike? I don't think so... |
dragonzflame 02.05.2004 00:58 |
Get them all. It's that simple. |
Saint Jiub 02.05.2004 01:16 |
Brandon - In my book MIH is better than Q2. In my survey a while back (based on individual songs, only the FG, HS, tM, Q and J rated lower (see below link) than Q2. link Why? In my opinion, it is because the White side of Q2 is mediocre (for Queen). Don't get me wrong, Q2 is a very good album (and the Black side is a classic). |
Maz 02.05.2004 12:23 |
Innuendo Innuendo or Innuendo |
Daburcor? 02.05.2004 15:18 |
Zeni, I like the way you think. And normally, I'd say that too, But, I see Queen, ..., Sheer Heart Attack, and I want that person to fill the gap. ;) |
rhapsody__87 02.05.2004 15:38 |
Yes, YES, like I said before... Queen II. I mean, you CANNOT beat "Ogre Battle": "the great big-a fight is over" -- listen for it. :D |

A Winter's Tale was the last one Freddie wrote, but Mother Love was the last one he sang. |

Mike, individually the songs from MIH may have fared better on your survey. However, as a whole Q2 puts MIH down. Take this as a fact as I have never been proven wrong when shooting down opinions. And Zeni... I think this is the first time you have been off base in your assessment. Innuendo, while a great album, would be a lot lower on a lost of most-urgent Queen albums to obtain. If you need it, I can present you with some conclusive evidence! |
rhapsody__87 02.05.2004 20:11 |
"Innuendo, while a great album, would be a lot lower on a lost of most-urgent Queen albums to obtain. If you need it, I can present you with some conclusive evidence!" I have it, but I want evidence! :-) |
Saint Jiub 02.05.2004 22:38 |
The rule for Q2: White is a Blight (relatively unremarkable) Black is Packed (with many classics) MIH as a whole is more consistent with fewer duds. Either album is better than Innuendo IMHO. I will now follow Brandon's lead and provide Bush league proof (Beware of weapons of mass destruction) by saying I have proof but giving no proof. LOL I will only grant that Q2 would be the best Queen album if the quality of the White side was anywhere as good as the Black side. |
rhapsody__87 02.05.2004 22:43 |
Does that mean you're disowning "White Queen"?? |
Brandon 02.05.2004 22:57 |
Simple: The songs on Innuendo are so weak, the band didn't want individual credit for any of them. On Queen II, Fred, Bri, Rog, and John all wanted recognition for their work... Um, not buying it? Well, a lot more copies of Innuendo have been purchased by the general public that Queen II. And if the general populace likes it, it MUST be easy, accessible and dumbed-down. Even by Brian's own admission they "dished out" a little too much for on Queen II! Still not good enough, huh? OK, there is no track by that invisible man John Deacon on Queen II? Hmmm. Well, I happen to think QII is tops! But I will concede that there is something to be said about the incredibley talented ROg having more than one song on Innuendo! |
Saint Jiub 02.05.2004 23:03 |
Brandon - You should have told me to bring my hip waders. Rhap - The studio version of White Queen is ok. The live version of White Queen is absolutely beautiful and blows the studio version out of the water. |
Brandon 02.05.2004 23:07 |
Mike, you're on the QZ Message Board. Chad Hanging once posted here. You should have come prepared. |
Saint Jiub 02.05.2004 23:10 |
I prefer Fatty's fertilizer - much smoother going down the gullet. |
Maz 02.05.2004 23:51 |
Heathens, both of you. Innuendo is Queen's return to form in the 1990s following what was a weak decade of studio releases. All of the songs work well together, even Delilah (though it is the weakest on the album). I still think that Bijou leading into TSMGO is the best seque on any Queen record. And to give more unqualified proof that it is a great CD, it's the Queen CD I choose to listen to whenever I'm in a pissy mood MIH is good, but it also has a piecemeal feel to it. The songs do not flow together as they should, in my opinion. As for QII, I am in the minority of Queendom when I admit it is not even close to being a favorite of mine. |
Saint Jiub 03.05.2004 00:21 |
I gather you are listening to it now ... Well I can say that Innuendo is better than Hot Space and Flash Gordon. Although Delilah is not a favorite of mine, I can say it is better (IMHO) than Innuendo, DTSH, RtWW, AGP, tH, Bijou and tSMGo. Give me The Miracle any day ... Did I say it was just my humble opinion? |
Maz 03.05.2004 00:52 |
I'm going to turn All God's People up even louder so I can't hear whatever Bull is saying. la la la la la la I can't hear you la la la la la la |
The Mir@cle 03.05.2004 03:10 |
Why not Jazz... that's my favourite |
Saint Jiub 03.05.2004 11:06 |
There was a magic light I said to myself then I went into a dream ... AHHHHHHH! Turn it off! Turn it off! Anything but that. OK, Zeni - your persuasive powers make you victorious yet again. I think I would rather listen to "It's a Small World" than that ... well not really. |
Brandon 03.05.2004 16:03 |
Don't worry, Zeni, I've already filed the papers to have Mike declared legally stupid. I will agree that you are in the minority when you don't place QII on your favorite list. As for "Bijou" turning into "The Show Must Go On" being Queen's best transition... Well, you are once again way off base. I can recall a few MUCH better segues, "Prophet's Song" and "Love Of My Life" springing to mind almost instantly. |
Maz 03.05.2004 16:42 |
I just have one thing to say to you, Brandon: Gotta face up Better grow up Gotta stand tall and be strong You sing that outloud in a shopping mall or overcrowded Turkish bath, then tell me I'm nuts for liking Innuendo so much. |
Saint Jiub 03.05.2004 21:28 |
Declared Legally Stupid ... Could be worse ... Well, at least I am still highly qualified to post on Queenzone. When will John Deacon's vocal demo of You and I be released as a single in promotion of his new box set? |
rhapsody__87 03.05.2004 22:06 |
"When will John Deacon's vocal demo of You and I be released as a single in promotion of his new box set?" Hahaha |
Oberon 04.05.2004 07:53 |
I have to say that I think Innuendo is stronger than Miracle. I love DTSH, ICLWY and RTWW (don't understand why many people don't). I think they'd have been great live. From Miracle, I think IWIA, Breakthru, Scandal and WIAWI are the strongest and would have been great live. I always found Party and Khashoggis Ship as fillers and will play them, but not really "listen" to them. Rain Must Fall and My Baby Does me are interesting, but I think one should have been replaced by MLHBS, and possibly the other by Stealin' or Hang On In There. Innuendo has a great opener in the title song. I remember waking up one morning to hear this premiered on Radio One's breakfast show here in the UK. They played it twice back to back. not many songs get that treatment!!! Headlong and The Hitman give a good rockin' balance, IGSM and Delilah are the fun, and Bijou is exquisite. Oh, and there's the small matter of The Show Must Go On!!! But, in answer to the actual question for the thread, then I'd get Q2 first and work through the years to fill in the gaps. |
Fenderek 04.05.2004 08:03 |
Queen II or Innuendo- both awesome, both masterpieces and you HAVE TO have them both...:) |

wembley_towers here's the deal for your next three I'd choose Queen II,Innuendo & Made In Heaven. I have all three and they're all fantastic! |

wHY not innuendo? a great farewell to freddie, not MIH |

I agree with Queenrocks! suggestion. Adam. |

I bought Queen II about 2 weeks ago and at first i thought it was great, but I don't think it's as good as some people say it is. I mean it is good, but not their best. Get MIH |
suckerpunch 12.05.2004 20:44 |
Innuendo is weak? the reason they shared songwriter credits were due to circumstances ie. they were working as a team, the bulls*** was out the window & Freddie's condition played a part too, throw it all in the pot & we'll work on it together. F*** all to do with embarresment about owning up to songs... If your new to Queen start in latter day stuff & work your way back because a)latter-day stuff is easier to listen to (as a rule) b)if you like all that.. 70's stuff youll have no problems with... i prefer the older stuff personally (cos im old :P) Personally Id pick Queen II because if you have GHits1 youll have the singles of the game "play the game, dust, crazy & save me" thats 40% of the album anyway. Cos Queen II only had 1 single released "7 seas" so there lots of stuff going on .. which you may not have heard yet.* So id say QueenII, The Game & MIH * = denotes from uk single releases - lol |
Kuku 14.05.2004 00:39 |
Yeah, "White Queen" IS unimpressive compared to its live version - which is one of the best numbers in the setlist. Always. Same thing with "Need Your Loving Tonight" - I really can't get used to the studio version because I heard live first (oddly) and... every time I hear it live I have this goosebumps - to see how powerful it is. The vocal range is higher in studio version but it can't beat the live. |
7Innuendo7 14.05.2004 15:30 |
I'm biased, I think Innuendo is a great album. On one hand QII is the voice of hungry young rockers; Innuendo is a scream of agony and release and triumph... |
Spiderleg Synthia 14.05.2004 17:27 |
Definately Queen II. If you think you're in love with Queen now, you won't believe this album. Try listening to it for the first time lying flat out with all the lights out. I did that, and I had an out of body experience. Amazing. |
