I've downloaded it recently from the Hub and the quality was pretty low... but this can't be the only version as 'the Magic Years - Anthology' has some awesome and perfect clips from the same show.
Any idea why would be appreciated. (What a great concert, though! Absolutely loved "You Take My Breath Away".)
By the way, that Magic Years show is totally tantalizing... I wonder why all those shows don't get released if they are in such a perfect quality.
Kuku, I wondered that as well about the Hyde Park show after seeing it on The Magic Years. There's plenty of scenes from different concerts throughout the anthology and I always wanted to know why we couldn't have all those concerts... or at least something like the Led Zeppelin DVD!
there is another version around in better quality. it's "the QTV version" (apart from the clock it has QTV sign on the picture). it's available on pirate DVDs, VCDs and occasionally in the hub as well.
We must remember, the Magic Years is from 1987. The Hyde Park master tapes have had 18 years to degrade since then.
I have a nice version of the Hyde Park show on DVD, but it's still nowhere near today's DVD standards. But the clips of Paris 79 on The Magic Years look great. I can only wonder how those master tapes are doing.
Earls Court 77 and Houston 77 have looked great in recent documentaries, so I see no reason why at least some songs from those shows shouldn't be released on a live boxed set some time in the future... whenever that is!
