"Someone save my life tonight, Brother Bear" **
Oops, I'm mixing up my Disney soundtrack artists and their songs.
** from a Chicago Tribune movie review of Brother Bear a while ago ...
Phil Collins has been a victim of his own success, his first two solo albums were fantastic, then he became so popular that he was just over played on the radio and everyone got sick of him, coupled with the fact it became cool to trash him in the press and to anyone that would listen.
He just has a certain writing style rather like Elton has, both are very talented at what they do but much like Queen were at one point rather un-cool to be seen liking.
It's interesting to see some of you now discovering bands like the Eagles and liking them and as well as Billy Joel, all great song writers, which sadly are rather lacking at the moment.
Seeing Graham Gouldman the other night at the SAS gig made me go get out some old 10cc albums out, again wonderful craftsmanship that lasts forever, I know many of you will roll your eyes at this, but ask yourself this, how many of today's artists will still be selling records in 30 yrs time?
Somehing I didn't know, Graham Gouldman has written so many hits for others including his first when he was sixteen for the Yardbirds!
