I found this line to be rather funny:
"...and if you do drugs, don't share a needle"
What the hell she trying to say? So it's OK to inject heroine in your bloodstream, as long as you don't share a needle and get AIDS from somebody else. I guess she forgot that heroine also kills, even though it might not seem as lethal as having AIDS.
It was funny when that guy told her to GET OFF. But what I found rather weird was that once I read that the guy who told her to get off was a Guns N' Roses fan.
Now how do you spot o Guns N' Roses fan among 75.000 people?
I don't see anything wrong with what she said. Of course it's better not be using drugs at all, but people who are already addicted can be reminded not to share needles. That's why many hospitals and clinics give out free needles.
I found her speech rather patronising, but not out of place in a celbrity led aids awareness event. Though I did like her reply to the shouts of get off ... 'I'll get off in a minute, but first I have something I want to say!'
Well, it's kinda like comprehensive sex ed programs. These programs teach teenagers that abstinence is a good idea, but that if you do have sex, here's how to protect yourself.
Same basic idea. Different taboo subject.
