It seems to me that some guitar solo's from Keep Yourself Alive are the same then some solo's from Christmas Time of the Darkness. I'm I the only one who hear the similarity or did some of you hear it too?
This is getting too sad. Poor Darkness. Some Queen fans will never accept them.
Is that the song they released at christmas?! Cause if so, I remember someone uttering that it was a rip-off of Somebody to Love! And another said it was a rip-off of One Vision??! Weird...
Peace,
Adam.
hmmmm...oooh and what about the few opening notes in the guitar riff at the beginning of I believe in a thing called love; sounding parculiarly like the opening riff to one vision? Hmmmm maybe I am just too bored LOL.

Honestly, not that I particularly listen out for that kind of thing, but I noticed that, too. In fact, when watching the footage of them working in the recording studio on One Vision- at the start, where Brian's playing- my little brother actually thought he was playing I Believe In A Thing Called Love.
Despite the fact that song wasn't to exist for another 18-odd years.
Well, one of my friends even noted another 4 songs which sounded slightly like I Believe In A Thing Called Love (he is just slightly fanatical with a love of Queen, and hatred of the Darkness, so any opportunity to accuse them off ripping off songs lol!)
Namely: Hammer To Fall (guitar part, apparently), Breakthru (lyrics) Crazy Little Thing Called Love (title) and Flash (vocals)
...pretty sad if you ask me lol, but whatever! ^_^
It's funny how I never noticed any of these things until you guys mentioned it...they're probably just tipping their hats to Queen.
Mind you, I quite like the Darkness so perhaps that's why these things don't bug me so much.
There is a track on the Darkness album (I think it's called Givin' It but I'm not sure) and when the guitar comes in on the second verse it is just like Hammer To Fall, but in many places on their album the guitar sounds quite May-esque.

Hmmm I think you mean givin' up ( I have their album, hee hee) and yes I agree the guitarist does sound May-esque that's why I think he's fucking brilliant!! He is also a huge fan of Brian though as well so that has probably influenced his playing. He's doing well, I think their guitarist is awesome anyway, I get around the singing LOL, I like to sing along anyway cos I love to sing high. hehe.
The Darkness ROCK. Like Flashy says, theres nothing wrong in being influenced by the best. They are one of only a few bands that id pay to go and see at the moment.
I really like the Darkness....they're something new I can look at besides the other crap that's being recorded these days.....I dont care they copy some Queen things......all I am saying is..it's about time somebody copied Queen....Queen is the best influence....hats off to the darkness for giving my generation the slightest bit of hope...in some repsects, groupwise..they're like Queen....you have people that either hate them or love them..like Queen...there's no in between..you either like their act or you don't....anyway..I've never seen a man sing such a high falsetto before...quite amazing and different...a difference from Queen where I don't think Freddie could sing so high you'd think he had his balls cut off or something...so you see...I like them because a lot of people in the U.S. hate them for being a "joke" or "not serious"......like Queen..they will prove the critics wrong....I think for those of you who don't like them...give them time and I think this band will grow and accomplish great things....and anyway...I always get the One vision song confused with an AC/DC song...so you see....every song sounds like eachother...who gives a flying rats ass?....none of the songs on the album sound like a Queen quitar riff or anything....you could go on forever how each songs sounds like Queen....it's rediculous.....just paranoia if you ask me...they have a true old fashioned simple rock sound....
the somebody to love-christmas time link 4 me is the riff of christmas time is likde that start of the somebody to love guitar solo. but i like the darkness so i not complainin.
im actually watchin robbie williams at Knebworth right now on E4 and he does alot of freddie-esque things. He uses the half mic stand like freddie throughout the show. And he sang WWRY. but i dont hate him coz of it. im not a big fan of his really, but live he isnt bad.
