C'mon vocalists- guitarists have their thread, now us:) Which Queen song you consider the most difficult to sing...? For me it's sth like "Innuendo", "Dead on Time (too fast, can't keep the pace with lyrics...), and "We Are The Champions"- I'm talking about singing in the same key! |
MexQueenFM 15.04.2004 13:14 |
i'd have to say Fairy Feller's master stroke also , My Fairy King, mostly the first two albums |
Daburcor? 15.04.2004 13:16 |
Most of the stuff off of Innuendo. The rest I can handle. |
Mayboy 15.04.2004 14:11 |
Dead on time, and Stone Cold Crazy |
Adam Baboolal 15.04.2004 14:11 |
Innuendo. So close, yet, such failing. lol |
Fenderek 15.04.2004 14:26 |
Breakthru- everything goes quite well (not everyday, though:)) untill the last chorus; by the end of the song I'm so tired that I can't reach the high pitched "smiiile", almost by the end of the song... And "Mother Love" is unreachable ("out in the city.../I don't want pity..." bits)- actually, the whole things sounds so bloody flat when I try doing it... |
Sir Archie 'Tiffany' Leach 15.04.2004 14:42 |
The theme from Superman then the theme from Star Wars. |
The Man On The Prowl 15.04.2004 15:39 |
The way Freddie sang Love Of My Life on the A Night At The Opera album is unique and inimitable for me! A great great voice and a great great unique rendition of Love Of My Life! |
FreDRicca_MeRcUrY 15.04.2004 16:04 |
ya ever tried show must go on eh... |
Fenderek 15.04.2004 16:11 |
In the key that Elton John sang- veeery easy! In the original one- forget it:) |
Daburcor? 15.04.2004 16:14 |
LMAO! Amen to that! I can do just fine on that song up until the "on with the show"... Then it all goes to hell. But, I can do Love Of My Life perfectly! Now... If I could only learn how to play the piano... |
Fenderek 15.04.2004 16:16 |
<> And AMEN to that one, too:) |
akan 15.04.2004 16:18 |
a friend of mine that have sung at the 'rolling stone' in milan (where brian played in '98) said that the most difficult queen song is the show must go on |
Daburcor? 15.04.2004 16:53 |
Ooh! Another one that is difficult is The Prophet's Song. |
Janet 15.04.2004 16:57 |
I can sing all of them--very very badly. |
dragonzflame 15.04.2004 18:25 |
I second that. Except for '39...it does strange things at "don't you hear me calling you..." |
geeksandgeeks 15.04.2004 18:52 |
Well, most of the ones Brian sings are pretty tough for me. I have a really high voice and his are in an uncomfortable spot for me. But as far as "most mind-boggling", which is what I think this was inteneded to be, definitely, without a doubt "Teo Toriatte". So hard to do effectively. |
Daburcor? 15.04.2004 18:57 |
"But as far as 'most mind-boggling', which is what I think this was inteneded to be, definitely, without a doubt 'Teo Toriatte'. So hard to do effectively." Teo Toriatte is one of my faves! I love singing that one... Japanese is a fun language. ;p |
MamaQueen 15.04.2004 19:01 |
Queen songs, except for some of the ballads, are difficult to sing. We Will Rock You is very hard. You have to have a super voice. I've managed to learn some of the ones I consider difficult one at a time. The ones I can sing now are: (I do it good enough for me) Love of My Life Bohemian Rapsody Save Me You Take My Breath Away In the Lap of the Gods Killer Queen Somebody to Love (don't sing it good enough for me yet) Melancoly Blues Who Wants To Live For Ever The Show Must Go On Freddie sang in a key that is comfortable for women, but harder for man to imitate. |
Daburcor? 15.04.2004 20:08 |
"Freddie sang in a key that is comfortable for women, but harder for man to imitate." Unless you have a 'wussy-man' voice like I do. If you heard me talk, You'd know. ;p |
Saffron Caribou 15.04.2004 21:52 |
Melancholy Blues - can't do the low tone. Most of the songs, I butcher them with grace. Watch out Roger! |
iGSM 15.04.2004 22:12 |
Certainly..My Melancholy Blues, Dear Friends and especially the Untitled Track on Made in Heaven. Oh and Save Me. No really...I'm on fire! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 16.04.2004 14:53 |
I cant beleive nobody has put down Mustapha. I always thought that Dead on Time was tricky. |
Under Pressure 16.04.2004 15:10 |
I think Slightly Mad is actually very difficult. |
unknown 17.04.2004 06:30 |
|
hoopdiddydiddy 17.04.2004 07:44 |
I too can sing them all very badly but when it comes to Love of my Life on A Night at the Opera I have to agree, I think he sings it superbly and it would be pretty hard to imitate |
Mr.Jingles 17.04.2004 10:09 |
Many artists can get away with singing OK versions Queen songs if they do it in a different key that Freddie used to use. There are very few singers who can sing 'The Show Must Go On' in the same key as Freddie. I think that's probably the most difficult Queen song to sing. |
Sir Archie 'Tiffany' Leach 17.04.2004 11:05 |
I can smell the stench of self-delusion everywhere. |
geeksandgeeks 17.04.2004 12:03 |

But "The Show Must Go On" is one of my favorite Queen songs to sing. Another one that's difficult simply because of the range used (for me, at least) is "Jealousy". I can do the chorus quite nicely, but the verses are a bit too much. |
Adam Baboolal 17.04.2004 12:17 |
Jealousy! A real fave and a great one to sing. Maybe I should cover it and send it in. What do you think? Peace, Adam. |
queenrox 17.04.2004 17:35 |
definately for me slightly mad ,my voice just doesnt go that low!!!! |
Queen_Bee_16 17.04.2004 23:57 |
i love the show must go on where freddie says "on with the show!" awesome....i guess the hardest one 4 me is i'm going slightly mad. its so low and all. |
Queen_Bee_16 18.04.2004 00:01 |
well (not to brag) but i can do "the show must go on" all the way thru without having to change keys. |
Daburcor? 18.04.2004 01:03 |
Oh! The Hitman is hard to sing as well, I can't touch that... LOL! Like I said, Most of the Innuendo album... SO many stunning performances on it! ;D |
sir vinou 18.04.2004 04:48 |
Fred's "Made in Heaven" is one of the most difficult song for me to sing. I sang a few times "The show.." on stage and could reach the high notes... |
YourValentine 18.04.2004 05:00 |
Welcome to the notice board, Vinou. It took you quite a while to post your first message:) As to the singing: I can sing Show Must Go On, too, but you would not want to hear it!! |
The Man On The Prowl 18.04.2004 08:32 |
LOL!!! Just because you never heard me singing Montserrat's part of Barcelona!!! As to Love Of My Life, it's not difficult for the range, which is quite easy and standard. I meant it's difficult to imitate the Night At The Opera rendition, the way Freddie sang it, the kind, the timber and the expressiveness of voice. |
Josuè 18.04.2004 08:40 |
I love singing but my voice is too low to have the exacte key, so I sing an octave under the right key. What a fckn shame, I'd love to have a higher voice... |
geeksandgeeks 18.04.2004 09:45 |
Trust me, Josue...you don't want a higher voice :) There's no demand for you. I couldn't get a band for years because no one wants a subrette. Adam, please send it in. We'd love to hear it. I have a recording of myself on "Leaving Home Ain't Easy" - that was made on a handheld tape recorder with shitty quality. Can't exactly send it in, no? |
Brian's sweet sister 18.04.2004 10:34 |
I can never sing along to My Fairy King. That is one of few Queen songs I don't think I'll ever get the hang of singing, no matter how many times I listen to it. "salt from sand" and "teeth don't shine like someting from poor mans eyes, pearls?" that's all I get and i dunno! LOL. |
Maz 18.04.2004 14:43 |
I can sing any Queen song, but they all come out sounding like Mustapha. |
Daburcor? 18.04.2004 14:45 |
"I can sing any Queen song, but they all come out sounding like Mustapha." LMAO! |
AndresGuazzelli 18.04.2004 21:16 |
Probably, i would say All God's People (the vocal harmonies are truly difficult for a man to sing (High Eb and High E on head voice, not falsetto) Freddie sang several songs on a contralto range (or a hyper high lyrical tenor) and some songs on the baritone range (the golden boy, for example) |
deleted user 18.04.2004 21:21 |
LOL Sir Archie |
Josuè 19.04.2004 00:55 |
lol geeks... I just ask a higher and stronger voice. I do not really like my voice, too low...:( anyway, upload the song!! btw, I'm thinking of covering a Queen song... perhaps one of those instrumental "karaoke" songs. |
Freddie-B 19.04.2004 10:51 |
Depends where your range is doesn't it? I'm Going Slightly Mad will be easier for some people if they have lower voices, and The Show Must Go On will be difficult for anyone who isn't blessed with genius and vocal gymnasticals. Anyone who thinks they can sing it as well as Freddie can, just try doing it with someone else in the room, see what they think. |
iGSM 19.04.2004 10:59 |
Surely In the Lap of the Gods is the hardest out of all the songs? I mean who can sing with a distortion on their voice? |
jorge 19.04.2004 13:09 |
I just think in one song (well, two songs): My Fairy King (Fred and Roger, imposing) and operistic section on BoRhap |
geeksandgeeks 19.04.2004 15:43 |
This might sound really stupid, Josue, but...I don't know how :D And I have the feeling that this seven-year-old piece of shit that I call a laptop might not like me to try. Gaaah...another one that's hard for me....Headlong. I sound like a little girl when I try to sing it. |
The Fairy King 19.04.2004 18:27 |
i don't know i can sing em all...keep yourself alive is kinda hard-ish with the lines following eachother up really fast |
Into La Ment 19.04.2004 18:41 |
Hmm... though I've had singing lessons for however many years now, I have never actually tried to sing an entire Queen song all the way through (Well... with the exception of impromptu Bo Rhap and Killer Queen renditions with my younger brother) I normally start to subconsciously sing a couple of lines of whichever song, then stop myself before I totally massacre it. So...yes, I am unsure as to whether I would actually be able to sing Queen songs. Technically, I can sing higher than Freddie (being female does help with that!) but in practice I know I'd totally muck it up. |
MamaQueen 19.04.2004 19:09 |
Like I said before I can sing most of the ballads pretty good and I can reach all the high notes. But to have the delusion of comparing my singing with Freddie's, NEVER! I love to sing Killer Queen |
Daburcor? 19.04.2004 19:38 |
I f I were to compare my singing to Freddie's, I think I'd come off as an arrogant fool. Which I am not. ;) |
QueenChick15 19.04.2004 19:41 |
I would have to agree with Mayboy, because Stone Clod Crazy is a hard song to sing...I've had the Classic Queen cd for years, and I still can't keep up with him!! |
