Which act who has took on the challenge of trying to sing a Queen song has destroyed it the most? |

Robert Plant 'singing' Innuendo ;-) |

5ive win hands down. Dave |
rhapsody__87 12.04.2004 18:12 |
Oooh I didn't like Paul Young's performance of "Radio Ga Ga" at the Freddie Tribute Concert. Definitely not the voice I had in mind for it. At the same concert-- George Michael just TOTALLY messed up the words for "'39". Ah, well... |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 12.04.2004 18:57 |
That I-don't-know-who guy that sung Champions in PATP. Pop Idol or something. Cheers, Ogre- |

Agreed, my vote goes to 5ive. What was worse, though, was that my little brother liked 5ive at the time, and seemed to think 'We Will Rock You' was a 5ive song. That's just wrong... |
Lord Blackadder 13.04.2004 17:19 |
the guy who sang WATC at PATP was indeed pop idol winner Will young and as far as pop goes he isnt bad, wasnt a fan of his version though. and... 5ive's WWRY was crap (which most agree), i dont understand the liza minelli WATC at the tribute, y her? i mean dont put her as the finale, i didnt like elton's TSMGO but i think that was bcoz i was expecting a match up to freddie's performance of the song which is much much more than anyone could hope to matching up to, and and u guys in u.k at children in nedd in november last year at the beginning someone sang WWRY and guess who it was, SHANE RITCHIE!!!!!!!!!! i shant bother telling you how dire it was |
Lord Blackadder 13.04.2004 17:22 |
o and you know lauren hill, she did a cover of Bo Rhap. Guess how good that was? |
rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 17:28 |
OH GOD Lauryn Hill did "Bo Rhap"?! That's just as bad as the version of "The Show Must Go On" in Moulin Rouge... |
RainMustFall 13.04.2004 17:37 |
Don't dis Moulin Rouge's cover of TSMGO. Keep in mind, it's a rather obscure (to understate it) song here in the US, and a lot of people must have gotten a new taste of Queen from it (being that it's not WWRY or WATC...) |
rhapsody__87 13.04.2004 17:42 |
Yeah, but coming from my point of view, to hear TSMGO in MR was quite horrific, in my opinion at least. |

jasen101 14.04.2004 17:11 |
Sporty spice i think did a version of Bohrap which Queen never allowed them to release i think? That must have been pretty bad. 5 Worst: 1. Sheer Heart Attack - James Labrie (Dream Theater) 2. Tie Your Mother Down - Lemmy Kilmister and Ted Nugent 3. We Will Rock You - 5ive 4. We Are the Champions - Will Young 5. Radio Ga Ga - Paul Young |
The Fonz 14.04.2004 17:51 |
I don't think it was lauren hill - it was 'The Braids' who did BohRap. |
Lord Blackadder 14.04.2004 17:57 |
well she sang on it thats all i no. it started at 'mama...' |
jasen101 14.04.2004 18:48 |
Yeah but they butchered the song! |
Into La Ment 14.04.2004 20:55 |
Actually, I think I'll change my answer. I have remembered something rather horrific. Glen Hoddle (ex-England manager) singing WATC *shudders* That now gets my vote. |
Fenderek 15.04.2004 09:10 |
WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS was twice ruined- once by Will Young (and I was there- OMG... )and then again by Robbie W. Also KILLER QUEEN sang by Glen Hughes made me laugh... (was ir intentional?) The Braids butchered BoRhap, all the Dance Traxx or whatever the CD was called was full of annoying covers... |
RMT 15.04.2004 10:39 |
I've never heard Glenn Hughes sing KQ, he's a bloody good vocalist but not really suited to Queen songs. |
Fenderek 15.04.2004 10:48 |
His version of "Get Down Make Love" is absolutely awesome... However, when he sang KQ, he was probably taking the piss... It's on "Stone Cold Queen" tribute CD- also there Tommy Show sings "Spread your Wings" (good one!, Derek Sherinian on keyboards and Dweezil Zappa on guitar), Joe Lynn Turner does "Fat Bottomed Girls"(Eric Singer- drums), Steve Lukhater plays great guitar in "I'm In Love With My Car", Geoff Tate disappoints in "Somebody To Love" and Jack Blades does the great version of "Fight From The Inside"(Tony Levin- bass) |
the show is going on 15.04.2004 11:43 |
Which act who has took on the challenge of trying to sing a Queen song has destroyed it the most? Roger Taylor
are you mad????!!! definetly, robert plant! |
Fenderek 15.04.2004 12:18 |
< C'mon you, guys... You're not gonna tell me that Plant singing "Innuendo" was worse than Will Young's hopeless live version of "We are The champions"...? |

I thought Rolf Harris's version of BoRhap was pretty dire too...makes 5ive seem like quite a good idea ! |
Lord Blackadder 16.04.2004 16:16 |
ok so the majority hate mr. plants 'innuendo' but his crazy lil thing was pretty good wasnt it? i thought so... |
Pandy Legend 16.04.2004 17:21 |
The Braids BoRhap is probably the worst I've heard. As for 5ive - it was better once Brian and Roger got involved (first version was just Brian with his guitar sound all changed). The only bit that is good though is the guitar/drums bit and the five power chords at the end are pretty good too. Shame about the boys "rapping" in it. The John Farnham version is OK - a nice twist (be better with Freddie's voice though). If you really want to laugh, try searching for a Russian band called "Elakelaiset" - they "covered" WWRY (named it Humppaukaasi) and, well - I'll let you find out! I agree about Will Young - he could have sung it so well, but tried to change it too much and it just didn't work. Robbie Williams's version wasn't too bad. Never had a problem with Paul Young's RGG though. |
Fenderek 17.04.2004 10:16 |
"I agree about Will Young - he could have sung it so well" What...?! |
Pandy Legend 18.04.2004 08:09 |
The Grim Reaper (a.k.a. Fenderek) wrote: "I agree about Will Young - he could have sung it so well" What...?!Well he has a good voice - it seemed like he was trying to make it his own, but it just sounded like he didn't know the tune. |
rhapsody__87 18.04.2004 10:44 |
Yeah... Robert Plant's 'Innuendo' wasn't exactly top notch but I thought 'CLTCL' was pretty good! Especially the little hip swagger... haha :) |
inu-liger 18.04.2004 16:44 |
There was those guys who released the home-made cover of WWRY on this site last December, or before that - "MJK + Friends" or something. That absolutely HAS to be worse than 5ive, Britney, Robbie and Will Young put together |
inu-liger 18.04.2004 17:21 |
Btw. I've still yet to even start on my cover of WWRY that I said I would do last year! :o |
Azmandaman 19.04.2004 04:21 |
Guys and girls take it easy yeah its healthy to criticise but just remember it wont stop anything from happening tribute or covering wise... butchered songs I totally dis agree that we are the champions was butchered by Robbies wholesome cover complete with a guitar solo performed by a live band which is not Queen, as much as we will rock you was buthchered up by axl rose in the Mercury concert. Will young and the party in the palace.. if you British would go back and saw Queen and Ben Elton on Parkinson interview on the week before the bash he was a genius by defining the pop generation and how he hates all this pop Idol that every mums and teenager cries so easily for. it was real clever to see him dis the Pop idol power not lettin us know that the patriotic British Idol winner is going to do a cover song on the day. yes The Braids with Bohrap its great its nice to see a great song to get in so strongly to another genre of music Freddie would be pleased! |
Daburcor? 19.04.2004 04:46 |
Whoever that dude was at the 46664 concert that sang "The Show Must Go On". I didn't like that... :| |
