Anyone going to this years convention Only four weeks or so away can't wait - gonna be great - missed last years and that was the first missed in 12 years Great weekend, great music, great people and more importantly LOTS and LOTS OF BEER !!!! If anyone is going pop over and say hello to THE JOHN DEACON FAN CLUB YES!!!!! WE ARE BACK and be prepared to ROCK !!!! M*ther F*ck$rs |
Banquo 08.04.2004 14:30 |
I'll be there. Ahh the John Deacon Fan Club. You can rely on a number of things at conventions 1. Everyone will say this is the last one. 2. A mad Welsh bloke with a mullet will prance around the dance-floor like Freddie at 10am while the "Queen Aerobics" is on. 3. You always spot the ends of society wearing ill-fitting Queen T-Shirts from 1984. 4. You pay extortinate bar-prices. 5. Every second person seems to be Dutch 6. The John Deacon Fan club will be royally pissed up. |
KevMull 08.04.2004 15:14 |
Is it too late to book? I was going to go but my mate let me down so will have to go on my own :( Anybody ever done one of those 'share' things where they pair you up with somebody else? |
[StArMaN] 08.04.2004 16:34 |
Trafficzombie wrote: more importantly LOTS and LOTS OF BEER !!!!I have to agree. I was there with friends last year, and there was beer everywhere, erverytime !! lol |
Les 08.04.2004 17:28 |
3rd convention this year! 29 days to go! I just hope they have Malibu down there. YUMMY! |
Penetration_Guru 10.04.2004 12:24 |
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The JDFC are twats. Aside from that, I agree with Banquo. Plus there will be some truly terrible tattoos |
inu-liger 10.04.2004 18:32 |
Unfortunately, my plans for going to the convention have been dashed :( |
Flashman 10.04.2004 18:43 |
Inu Yasha wrote: Unfortunately, my plans for going to the convention have been dashed :(Chortle! Please, tell us more about your woes, I could do with a laugh. Alas, I won't be attending the convention either which I'm sure you're all mortally distressed to hear. I can't sleep in those shit-hole chalets at my time of life. I can't have my bed in the same room as the kitchen, for goodness sake. Not to mention hearing the bloke next door tuning his bowels each morning. Plus the complaints from the neighbours about the noise of my banging headboard tends to grate after a while. Make sure someone buys Banquo a pint. He's a damned fine egg and I hope he gets his leg over. |
Nuno 11.04.2004 05:38 |
Penetration Guru I am a twat - you don't know us - |
Banquo 11.04.2004 07:37 |
You've never seen the women at Conventions have you Flashy? Getting my leg over needs a barrel of lager and temporary blindness. Having said that things could be different this year. And I'll agree about the pint for me, I'll be the one in the Preston North End shirt falling over. |
Flashman 11.04.2004 11:20 |
I think it might be the Preston shirt that is blowing your chances in the legover department, young Banquers - not the ale. I suppose its alright for cleaning up with afterwards, but its never going to be the world's greatest minge magnet, let's face it. |
Penetration_Guru 11.04.2004 18:06 |
Mr Zombie - au contraire - a bunch of students shouting drunkenly and wearing orange wigs, delivering their interminable once-funny version of Angels, and writing RT reviews for the Bury Times are generally more easy to spot that an untattooed average bloke wandering around marvelling at the levels of stupidity exhibited by the receivers of the best education money can buy. So, on balance, maybe it's you who don't know me...? |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 18:22 |
Yeah, and one of you dickheads kindly elbowed me in the throat when you were 'larking about' at the September party in Reading a few years back. I can accept high jinks, but that bloody hurt and you didn't even notice you'd done it! Not all the women who go there are that bad PG! I've been going for a few years now, and I look alright! |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 18:28 |
I had trouble sleeping last year - pregnant, and unable to drink alcohol, plus sleeping was dificult anyway. This year however, I'm having a break, leaving partner babysitting, hence no transport. Anyone travelling via north Manchester and has room for 2 (will pay towards petrol)? |
Flashman 11.04.2004 18:36 |
Leaving your partner babysitting, Simoriah ? North Manchester, you say? Room for 2 eh? Another bird is it? Might be tempted to give this thing a whirl yet. |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 18:40 |
No it's my male best mate!!! Scuppered my chance of a lift now. Well, my partner went away for a weekend, and it's about time he looked after little one by himself. I'd love to bring her with us, but she's too young. He's not so much of a Queen fan as I am, and I haven't missed one since 1992. |
Flashman 11.04.2004 18:50 |
Sorry love, the trip's off. |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 18:54 |
You're so fickle |
Penetration_Guru 11.04.2004 18:54 |
Simoriah, you are completely correct. Not all women there are bad, and I've always said how lovely you are (in a non-stalker kind of way, of course). |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 18:58 |
yeah right. ;) There are some majorly unattractive specimens there though. At least go for one who wears different clothes each day and has all her own teeth! |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 19:06 |
Have I missed a thread anywhere - is anyone from here organising a meet-up or anything? I'm more free to do stuff this year as there's only 2 of us, instead of 6, and it's hard to keep track of the others when there's more of you. Plus doing what all the others want to is a pain sometimes. |
Flashman 11.04.2004 19:12 |
And you call me fickle! |
Simoriah 11.04.2004 19:25 |
I'm not that free! Just more free to have a drink and take part in the convention. Just trying to save some of my train fare for petrol and beer. |
Nuno 12.04.2004 06:16 |
HEY GURU do you not get it - that is the whole point to get reactions from muppets like you - you must be a fish cos you have taken the bait like one And to SIMORIAH - on behalf of who ever elbowed you in the throat I apologise (late YES but better than never) not sure who did that though -could have been any one AND GURU - student????? where the fuck do you get that from |
Banquo 12.04.2004 06:32 |
You can always spot me on Saturday afternoons soaking up the sun and lager outside the Queen Vic with my friends. Who, all of them I found through the convention. A big hello to the Hedgehogs who make the best convention cake in the world and host the best chalet parties. 3am Bacon butties, lovely stuff. |
Black-Rose 12.04.2004 06:33 |
Hey Rachel Where are you ? We have space for two, (i'll have a word with hubby to see if we can squeeze you in) we are near Preston. And I think the girls at the convo are bloody ace. :-) It's my 16th this year. Luv Julie XX |
Simoriah 12.04.2004 06:53 |
Julie, thanks a million, but I think we're not on your route at all, we're in Oldham. It would cost too much in time and petrol. TrafficZombie - Apology accepted. I realise that whoever did i didn't mean to, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and he was completely cabbaged. Maybe you can make amends by giving us a lift? ;) Nah, we'll get the train. Not as much fun now that the Vodka Warriors have grown up and sobered up - it used to be an eventful journey with them. |
Banquo 12.04.2004 07:34 |
I met you once at the convention I think Julie. You was with Freddie VTB I think, if its not you then sorry. |
Black-Rose 12.04.2004 08:25 |
Well it may have been me, i do say hi to Freddie at convs. I'm usually drinking Stella Artois and making a fool of myself, or throwing myself at Jeff Scott Soto - you get the picture. Spent most of last year being beaten into submission by my 8 year old daughter on the dance machine. Rachel well the offer is there. We only leave Chorley at 3.30 when Samantha finishes school. We will fit you in among the cans of stella somehow should you change your mind. If not, I will see you there, can't wait, 25 days to go. |
Penetration_Guru 12.04.2004 14:55 |
What do you call an unfunny group of males who can't handle their ale and have no idea of the personal space of others? Students. If I'm wrong, then I apologise...to students. Plus, claiming that I'm some sort of victim of your "irony" is pathetic, but very student-like. Oops, I did it again. |
Nuno 12.04.2004 19:58 |
Students ???? What are you wittering on about We are not students Handle ale - have a day sat with us - let's see who can handle the ale ??? Again - my point exactly - taking the bait |
Les 20.04.2004 05:41 |
Tis only 17 days to go now. Then it'll be time to overdose on Queen music, stay up til ridiculous times and... well, drink too much I suppose. MALIBOOOOO! |
Les 20.04.2004 05:41 |

Sir Archie 'Tiffany' Leach 20.04.2004 18:02 |
What convention? |
Simoriah 22.04.2004 18:11 |
Oooh, staying up late. I've had far too many nights where I've been up at 4am recently. But then, that's babies for you. Might actually be able to get a good night's sleep. Then again, I will be drinking and those beds are bloody uncomfortable. I can't wait, but it's going to be weird as I'll really miss my baby this time. She'll be fine though, being spoiled rotten by her dad. What are you doing for a Dreamer's Ball costume? They should have picked 80s as the theme, what with all the crappy fashion in the shops, plasic jewellery and all. |
iron eagle 22.04.2004 18:36 |
ray and i had to cancel our visit to Pontins ,as well as attending a dear friends weddding, this year due to his back surgery on the 6th... i suppose harrow middlesex can survive another year without me blazing through it.. Pontins undoubtedly will suffer some consequences in profit from the weekend due to us not drinking like madman-- yes i know dont we all and the marquirita party will have to wait to next year... |
Les 23.04.2004 08:20 |
I dunno. Might just wear my new indian top and stuff. I don't stay up that late very often. My worst is about 1am, but even that's not very often cos I get kinda tired with all the revision I'm doing at the moment. |
queen-mad 4729 23.04.2004 14:32 |
hey Rachel, this is probably too late to reply but if you're still looking for a lift, i'm travelling with my mum this year so we have room for 2. We're coming from Bradford, so if you wanted a lift let me know, i'm Katies (Rizzy's) mate Sam. |
Les 24.04.2004 07:42 |
13 days to go now people! Roll on May 7th when we can all get pissed, overdose on Queen music and see all our mates! MALIBU, QUEEN MUSIC AND HUGS |
Simoriah 30.04.2004 19:12 |
Sam - thanks for the offer. We've got a lift from door to door now. Only one way, but better than nothing. See you and Katie at the bar no doubt. |
