Not that I'm terribly concerned about this 10th anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death but I thought it might be a timely time to bother you all with a discussion.
So: real suicide, or murderous conspiracy at the hands of Courtney Love?
Don't know. I love Nirvana but not so much that I think about Kurt's death.
I only know that Courtney is weird and I am sorry for Francis Bean that she was born into such a weird family!
It brings back memories of a Friday night 10 years ago. Flashman and I had been bopping at the Empire discoteque, as usual completely wrecked. While waiting for a taxi my white scarf (I really was a dandy in those days) blew away and Flashy like the gent he is retrieved it after a vigourous run. Anyway got home and heard Kurt Cobain had died. I thought he was some sort of raver and thought little of it.
But fair do's he wasn't a bad old musician and I'll admit to owning an album. Mind you I never play it. Give me Suede anyday.
I don't really blame Courtney for Kurt's death, but if she wasn't so fucked up she could have indeed saved his life. God bless poor Frances, and hopefully she won't grow up to be like her mother. So far it seems like she has become a normal girl.
About Nirvana... indeed his death made him a martyr and a legend as well. Sure he was an influential musician, but nobody knows for sure how people would see Nirvana today if Kurt never died. I'm sure there would have been a point in which Nirvana would be forced to change their sound and perhaps Nirvana wouldn't be as praised as they are today. Lucky for them, despite of Kurt's death, they didn't face the same challenge as most rock bands that have been together for many years.
Tried listening to 'em, but can't fathom a word they're saying. Something about brown cows, I recall. Not my scene that.
However, it's a sad waste. Especially when you consider that people like Sting are still alive.
Honestly, whether Court killed Kurt or Kurt killed Kurt is of no consequence to me whatsoever. Personally, I think it's most likely that he did kill himself, as surely if there was as much of a case against Courtney as the conspiricy theorist websites would have you believe, the case would have been re-opened?
I used to like Nirvana ('back in the day...') but recently they have been getting on my nerves so much.
My younger brother's insistence on constantly watching Kerrang this week means that I've been forced to tolerate non-stop Nirvana during their little 'R.I.P. Kurt Cobain week'. In my opinion, he gets far too much attention. The band definitely had something, but they are exceedingly overrated.
Still, Freddie's voice sounds even more incredible (if possible) when you've been listening to hours of Kurt's whine.

Oh, Flashy, Flashy :)
First of all, why couldn't we use April 5th as a day to stay off that poor woman's back? She didn't kill Kurt and she's been through enough.
Rest in peace Kurt and may you party with Freddie for all eternity. And when it's time, invite me, would ya?
I'll point out now that I don't think there was any conspiracy either - I'm quite sure he did himself in whatever anyone else says.

10 years already? I never cared anyway. I thought they sucked. I never could make out one word that was close to english in thier 'music'. But oh well. He's dead. RIP
I watched a 2 hours special about Kurt Cobain yesterday. A british reporter doing some research on Kurt's death and he came to the conclusion, after talking to friends and relatives and Courtney's friends and relatives that it was rather suicide.
Not that it matters....
What I found really funny though was another special they showed which said: Tribute to Kurt Cobain and the VJ was so annoyed by Kurt getting all the attention that they only showed HOLE videos!
:-)

Ewwww... I hate Hole... Ugh...
I love Hole. Live Through This had some great videos off it. How come I never see it when they finally decide to give them some recognition? And why am I always the last one to hear about it?
I don't really object, since much of the Nirvana fan base spends April 5th every year making T shirts that say "Courtney Did It" and watching "Kurt & Courtney", a shit-for-brains video that features Eldon Hoke. How tasteless can you get?
Thankfully, I heard that the Seattle atmosphere was pretty mild this time.
