Hi! Do you remember a year ago when we all were atonished about the great Valensia?
Well, those days I hadn't a fast connection, so I couldn't download many songs, either found the CD in any store.
Now I'm listening to it and I've had to stop.
Polar Bear always seemed to me a sweet and nice song, but the bad quality of it underrated it. What a surprise to find out that Valensia already made his own version of the song and I think it is GREAT!! What an awesome job there! OMG! He's a genius! And by what I've heard of the album it seems to me that he's a very talented guy and that he worths a lot.
IMHO My Fairy King is one of the bests on the album (I like the alternative final)
* biggest Valensia fan on Queenzone enters topic ;-)
His version of My Fairy King is better than the Queen version IMO. The Queen version is brilliant already (except for the strange ending, I still expect something to happen after the last piano/guitar bits), so you can imagine how brilliant Valensia's version is.
Other Valensia tracks worth downloading:
- Phantom of the Opera
- Kosmos
- Gaia
- Millenium
- Since All Bitter Opal Tears All Gone Elsewhere
- Mayte
etc. etc. I especially recommend the Blue Album. Add me on Soulseek (link -> search for soulseek), my username = Valensia - I share pretty much everything Valensia has released so far.
I didn't dare to say that but, I also find Valensia's version 'better' than Queen (something strange to say, yes), because I think it has more power and passion, and of course the final is more conclusive and sweet.
Also, Killer Queen is a great cover. Great idea making it slower, I love it, he's a genius.
I don't know why this guy hasn't still obtained fame, does he do tours or anything? Where has he performed by now?
Nope he doesn't tour. He did a few appearances/small tours in Japan in 1996/1999/2000, but no big tours. A gig was planned in Ahoy in Rotterdam (Netherlands) in 1996, but was cancelled due to poor sales of the Kosmos album.
He hopes to tour with his Metal Majesty project though :-)
I agree to some extent Fried. Some of his stuff is ok. But his Queen influence is too heavy to the point that some 'original' songs sound like carbon copies.
He's a talented guy, but I just wish he wouldn't do the Queen angle so much. And he's no genius, lol!
Peace,
Adam.
Pff...I don't know what the problem is - so what if he uses Queen as a (big) inspiration. Meanwhile, here @ Queenzone everyone is re-recording Queen songs too and everyone thinks that's great... But when an artist releases songs inspired by artists he/she loves it's wrong? Some of famous Beatles songs (Twist and Shout, Money etc) were covers too and no-one is calling them wankers for that.
You guys obviously haven't listed to Valensia's other stuff, but only to the stuff which is similar to Queen. His albums also include reggae-tinted tracks, hardrock, ballads etc. You don't have to like it, it can be quite strange music - but to say he's shit is not fair.
I don't think he sucks. I don't think he's a genius either but he's great. I love the way he re-arranged some songs, Liar in particular I love way more than the original

Well, I can't say I like it better than the original, because I already find that song sheer brilliance, but I much say Valensia did a really good job on that song. He put a lot of Borhap influences in his version of "Liar". I know he wanted it to sound even more as Borhap as now is on the record. I'd love to hear that, maybe a slight chance he fixed that for the European release of the Queentribute????
Musical brother of Valensia: ROBBY VALENTINE
will release his 7th solo album on 8th May in Japan.
Also worth listening! This guy is a genius like
