I think Roger's voice is great, he sounds so "rocky".
I wish he would do a whole vocal track to some of queen's rock songs, such as hammer to fall, fat bottomed girls, and the rest.
In live recordings, you hear his microphone turned lower than Freddie's, and it leaves me wanting more.
Freddie's voice is great, but it would be nice to hear roger going crazy on a few songs with his mic turned up all the way.
better still what about some new work with Roger on vocals? Or a live show with Rog on lead?
Going back and repeating the same old stuff is like trying to relive a past that can't be relived. But a new studio album, or even a few tour dates would be okay...we all know that as time has gone on both he and Brian have ... changed... so make the most of the change I say and give us something new...anything but another version of WWRY
Just my very humble opinion.

You're absolutely right. GOOD new stuff would be even better than what I suggested.
Sadly though, I don't have faith that he will do new stuff, and even if he does, will it be as good as Queen was?
Also, I just think it's so interesting to just concentrate on roger's voice when he sings parts with Freddie live.
So it would be interesting to have purely Roger's voice on some songs.
After watching the dvd of "Live At Wembley" and "We Will Rock You", it seems that Roger's vocals could not be harnessed. It has been discussed before in this forum that Brian's mic must not have been turned up very loud for you can hardly hear his vocals during a concert, but I think that his vocals were drowned out by the power of Roger's.
We need more of Roger's voice in any form we can get it; live recordings, studio, whatever. "Electric Fire" is one of my all time favorite cds by any artist.
Roger quite simply has a mindblowingly powerful voice. His rockier solo stuff and stuff with The Cross proves that beyond doubt. I have seen Rog live several times and he never ceases to amaze me. A new Roger album, or songs with Roger singing would be much welcomed!
He is crap at remembering lyrics when he is on tour, we where shouting the words to "Im in love with my car" at him in Glasgow. he saw the funny side mind you.
It's all part of the fun with Rog, when he stumbles on the words it's normally quite fun. There was a night on the EF tour when he sang a line from Strange Frontier twice, I think it was Stoke but don't quote me on that!
Roger Taylor can sing to me everday and everynight...my God he has the most amazing voice, so sexy, so rocky, so.....*stars off into the distance, sighs, drools.....*
It's nice to see the influx of roger fans to this thread finally!
I like his solo stuff too, but the thing is it's just not as good as the queen material. That's why I'd like to hear him redo the vocals for some queen songs.
Definately sign me up for the Roger thread! I love his voice....always have. He's the only Queen member that I buy solo music of. I always felt that his vocals put a lot of the "rock" in Queen.
I don't mind his voice as backing vocals but to me it seems as though he eats graters for breakfast, lunch and dinner..great range but shame about the graters.

yeh...but...so so so so so so so sexy *breathe* hehe ;D
I think Roger has a fab voice, yes very sexy. I like it a lot, and in fact I had a Roger Taylor record before I ever had a Queen record of my own...ummm, that appears to date me somewhat.

You are absolutely right!!! I love his voice especially in Rock It Prime Jive... I don't know why, I never get bored listening to that song... I listen to that song solely for his vocal (and Freddie's intro is so nice too.)
I've always thought that in the absence of any new material an album of cover versions would be good. Kind of like the rock and roll section they did live. So I'd quite like to hear Roger sing the songs that influenced him, old rock and roll, who, hendrix etc...(It'd be interesting if nothing else!)

It's kind of hit or miss with Roger doing cover songs, in my opinion. I think Foxy Lady sucked with The Cross but his cover of Working Class Hero on Electric Fire is great.
