So last night before going to bed, I put on my headphones and listened to the Made In Heaven album [minus the loooong instrumental part]. After finishing with that, I decided to put on the radio and see what's on.
I put on one of the 2 classic rock stations from my area (104.3) and "Somebody to Love" was ending.
Then I put on 102.9 and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was ending.
Ooookay! That's just really coincidential, but the stations here hardly play Queen (and it's usually Bo Rhap or WWRY/WATC) and then they were both on at the same time, ending at the same time...
I don't know. I was like "WHOA!" Wavelengths... haha
Oooh we never get "Radio Ga-Ga" or "The Show Must Go On" over here.
Here is what they play on the classic rock stations here in the US in terms of Queen:
1) Bohemian Rhapsody... obviously!
2) Somebody to Love
3) Tie Your Mother Down
4) Crazy Little Thing Called Love
5) Fat Bottomed Girls
6) Killer Queen
7) We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions
Typical. Give me some "Innuendo" or "The March of the Black Queen"... that'll show all those "Stairway to Heaven" worshippers!
Too true, rhapsody_87, and you're lucky to hear those...lol! Imagine how surprised I was to turn on the radio on Saturday and hear "Keep Yourself Alive"!
"Keep Yourself Alive" -- now THAT'S lucky! That song is such a gem... you know what song should REALLY be played on the radio? "The Prophet's Song" purely because that song kicks ASS.
my dad who hates queen once turned the radio on and bo rap was on he turned the channel and fbgs was on turned it again and wwry/watc was just getting over he was very mad
"that'll show all those "Stairway to Heaven" worshippers!"
Hey, no slamming Zeppelin! Whether you like it or not, Zeppelin had 50x more impact on American popular culture than Queen did.
I'm not trying to slam Zeppelin because I like them, too! But I mean, you hear so much more Zep on the radio than Queen.
On a side note-- my AOL icon is of Robert Plant (and it says Led Zeppelin underneath) and my friend asked if they were my new favorite group. I told her no, they're just really good. I asked if she had heard of any of their songs before, even Stairway and she said no. I told her to download it. She flatout refused.
Her favorite, er, singer is Aaron Carter. She thinks he's just the bees knees.
Isn't that kind of odd... I thought we're born knowing some basic songs, like Stairway! :)
Yeah, there's definitely a lot more Z than Q on the radio. But the US just likes Z more. Q doesn't really have an "American-friendly" sound most of the time.
"Her favorite, er, singer is Aaron Carter. She thinks he's just the bees knees."
Hopeless, hopeless...
"Isn't that kind of odd... I thought we're born knowing some basic songs, like Stairway! :)"
Some of us are... god bless us!
Well I don't like Led Zepplin but I certainly don't deny that their playing ability and impact.. I'm just not fond of Led Zepplin..
Although I do like the fact that Keith Moon (from The Who) apparently gave them their name...something about crashing down like a lead zepplin. Hmm, I'm sure that's either a) Me making something up or b) Trying to be popular...again.
Yeah, isn't a Led Zeppelin a kind of balloon?
I got the DVD yesterday out of complete curiosity because I was reading rave reviews over at amazon.com and there's some radio show they did and the introduction has their name in this blimp-balloon thing.
And iGSM... don't worry, you're super!! :-)
