Well, are there? I'm wanting to buy a compilation from them and don't know which one to get first. I already know that I like a few of their songs (How Soon is Now? Stop Me if You've Heard This One Before, among others) and now want a CD.
Anyone??
Try 'Louder Than Bombs' or buy the album 'The Queen Is Dead'
despite having the tag of being miserable the lyrics are quite humerous. If you can't find any of those albums go out and buy XTC's Fossil Fuel :-)
Brilliant band, Morriseys is an excellent song-writer and Johnny Marr is equally good on guitar. Try Joy Division as well they are very good as well and 10 times better than the insipid New Order.
Great band, great singer with Morrissey, for all the very best of the Smiths see if you can still buy, Best...I and Best...II both released in 1992 on WEA.
Joy Division-now you're talking :-) Their songs are fantastic, and the video for 'Atmosphere' is one of the most haunting you'll ever see. In terms of emotion I'd probably put it only second to 'These Are The Days Of Our Lives'. If you haven't already seen it then watch 24 Hour Party People, it's amazing. There is actually a deleted scene about The Smiths on the DVD.
I'll agree on 24 Hour Party People which has jumped straight into my 'top ten films'. Atmosphere is a spectacular video.
At college years ago I had an arguement with a fellow student who said I simply could not like Joy Division and Queen because they were poles apart, he even went as far as saying I was betraying the memory of Ian Curtis!??! The gimp, who of course was wearing a long overcoat, soon shut up when after talking with his sister I learned that he owned a Climie Fisher album.
I trieds to get into The Smiths, but I can't stand Morrisey and his annoying singing voice. If you call that singing!! It's enough to drive anyone mad... I tell ya'!
Besides there songs for the most part, that I have listen too, sound the same. Where is the variety!
