Most people know my feelings on this issue.
As they completely hero-worship both Brian and Roger, and they've played with Brian before, and they inducted Queen into the hall of fame, and Brian was on their most recent album, and they're some of the biggest Queen fans imaginable (not surprising as one is a former grunge rocker)...
THE FOO FIGHTERS.
You know who else I'd like to see them alongside? Audioslave.
The peformance of 'Tie Your Mother Down' with the Foos at the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was just plain awful. Perhaps they could play with the Foos again, but PLEEEEEAASE, DON'T LET DAVE GROHL DO THE LEAD VOCALS EVER AGAIN!
Considering they'd appeared on three of his albums, Billy Squier would have seemed to have been a slam dunk. Bet a couple of tracks together would have done quite well in the States.
If anyone can comment, I've asked this before on various NGs.....why didn't he perform at the Tribute Concert?
Dan, I have a better idea. Why don't they just not perform Tie Your Mother Down with them? In fact, if they never performed it agian, I certainly wouldn't be the one to object...it's just that if Grohl doesn't do the lead vocals, who's going to?
It's more a sentimental thing (for the Foos) than anything else. If it had been me, I'd have broken out in tears..."I'm singing...*insert song here*...with Brian May and Roger Taylor..."
Damn, how I wish Mother Love Bone were still around somehow, they'd be first on my list...
How about Macca(for the one who doesn't know: Paul McCartney)? Or Anouk(Dutch artist) or Tim Staffel or Alanis Morissette or Krezip(Dutch group) or Twarres (oh no, doesn't exist anymore...) or Alicia Keys (my sister helped me with counting up names)...
I always thought Brian and Roger would do very well with Paul McCartney. Think about it... a concert with a combination of Queen and Beatles songs. And Paul's a damn good bassist.
Nice idea about Dream Theater, but Petrucci and Portnoy would outstage Brian and Roger after three notes.
A good bass player and a good singer in one person? and with good songwriting skills? Only two guys... Macca or the almighty Roger waters!!eehe
Talking seriously, i still think that a good album with 5 or 6 or good vocalists/songwriters would be fine
Bowie
Bono
Dave Ghrol
justin hawkins
axl rose
Robbie Williams
George Michael
That would be a good team of "Queen partners".
"And this is why Dream Theater would not be a good idea. The last thing we need is a Battle of the Egos."
Being as you've done next to zero research into DT, I'll choose to shake off your complete ignorance.
When will you finally understand that "proficient classically-trained musician" does not equal "ego on roof" ??
Don't even bother replying.
And furthermore, to Geeks...
It's obvious you know you what you're talking about when it comes to commercially-oriented rock music... and that's great! You've got good taste there.
But when it comes to non-commercial music, like classical, jazz, jazz fusion, and most progressive rock, you haven't got a clue. In the future, think twice before you shout out serious comments about something you're far from being an expert on.
paul mccartney is the best choice! i think the greatest band ever would be john, paul, freddie, brian and roger. they all would sing and write songs but they might be some ego issues between john, paul and freddie. but it would be fantastic! paul is one of the best songwriters, basists and singers of all times-all that in one person. he isn't showman like freddie but he has his unique style and his songwriting and singing(you're gonna kill me for this) is just as good as freddie's was. if you think i'm crazy than you didn't hear lots of very hard to sing songs paul has. just listen to the call me back again
"isn't showman like freddie but he has his unique style and his songwriting and singing(you're gonna kill me for this) is just as good as freddie's was."
No, I absolutely won't kill you... cuz you're probably right!
Don't be afraid of the Stepfords. It's always okay to say that someone else was equal or even better than Queen or any of its members (as long as you're being truthful about it, and not picking someone like Joey Ramone).
