I was wondering if anybody has both the 2001 and an older remaster of Live Killers and Live Magic and could tell me how much of a difference there is between the two versions. I just purchased all the Japanese card sleeves and was thinking of getting those two live albums to complete the collection (I have the 2003 remastered version of Live at Wembley from HR already). Thanks for the help.
Musically, I don't think there was any difference at all. I once read the sound was slightly remastered, but you can't clean up the terrible (by official release standards) sound quality. The board recordings were what they were.
the 3rd face of Live Killers (don't stop, Wings and Brighton) is not that bad. Even if it's a "cut'n'paste" job from various places, theses songs sound great on this album.
Very true! Hey, I'm used to the sound of bootlegs, so Live Killers, from a sound quality point of view, is very refreshing... even though it's bloody full of overdubs.
