Today I went to see the film 'Dawn of the Dead', the 2004 remake of the 1978 film.
Before this film started, I saw a trailer about a film that has a 'Deep Impact' sort of an Apocalyptic nature called 'Day After Tomorrow'. This film is about a strange global climate change that occurs all over the world every 10,000 years, this change will result in a global cataclysm. Thus, resulting in a 'Ice Age'. I was completetly impressed by the trailer of this film, directed by Roland Emmerich (Independence Day), that I went to the IMDB to check on more info about this film.
While I was browsing through the message board, I came across this post about a rumoured 'hidden message' in which Emmerich has implemented in the film about the year 2012.
So what about this year, 2012?
According to the trailer, the film will be released on May 28th, 2004. Now, this year, the planet Venus will cross the Sun for approx. 10 days, from May 28th to June 10th. The next time this will happen is in the year 2012. So what is the big deal then?
According to the Mayan calendar, Dec. 21, 2012, the world will suffer 'doomsday'. This 'doomsday' is not the fire and brimstone that we have learnt it will be, but a global cataclysm in which the Earth's poles will shift, thus resulting the planet entering a new Ice Age. This might happen if the Earth will fall into a galactical alignment in which follows a pattern or procession of equinoxes. Thus resulting in a pole shift, followed later by the cataclysms, and the Ice Age.
Listen, I'm not an astronomer, nor I'm a science buff, but I find this very interesting. I've always had an interest in prophecies, the occult, and 'doomsday'. Thanks to the superb Catholic Church for teaching me that the 'Apocalypse' will happen, and that the sinners will pay. Although they always told me to never take anything in the Book of Revelations literaly *shrug*. However, this piece of information has left me stunned.
The tie of this film, and the Mayan prophecy of 2012 might be a coincidence or not if this supposed 'hidden message will appear in the film. I'll just have to see the film in May to check.
Here is some info about it: link link link
If interested, check the page about the 'The Bast Theory'. This theory is based in that ever so often a force from space can cause global changes and mass mutations. link
I don't think that Y2K was a part of the Mayan prophecies.
However, according to an American Indian prophecy, there will come a time in the 2010 decade that everything that man has domesticated, and created will turn against him.
Imagine your toaster, blender, electric knife, and coffee maker attacking you mercilessly until your dead.
Prophecies are prophecies, but goddamit they are fascinating.
