Read all about it here: link Let's hope it's not malignant. He doesn't say anything about that but he does mention wanting to help out a cancer charity in the same paragraph, which is odd. :( I cried all through Larry King Live last night hearing about Tammy Faye's lung cancer (she never smoked btw, they think it spread from colon cancer 8 years ago). |
iron eagle 19.03.2004 20:17 |
i luvs my tammy faye.. and i truly hope she beats this and gets well. she's one of the most down to earth non judgemental people i have ever met. |
SallyJ. 19.03.2004 20:49 |
"Let's hope it's not malignant" Indeed. And I hope he gets well soon!! I don't know the other person you mentioned, but I know from experience that cancer is terrible. You wouldn't wish it upon your worst enemy. Umm I think that's a dutch expression but you know what I mean. |
Sir Archie 'Tiffany' Leach 19.03.2004 22:09 |
Did the cyst have a name? Par example Ben Elton. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 19.03.2004 23:51 |
"Brian May has cyst removed" They should better be removed, rather than implanted. Brian is on the right path. MAY God bless Him. Get well, Idol!!! :) |

Today it sounds like a reporter was trying to ask him about it.. he was spotted leaving the hospital I guess, so this 'parasite' woke him up early in the morning. Lovely. Can you blame Brian for being a little bitter? I sincerely hope that this form of 'journalism' stops soon, especially in the U.K. where it seems to be worse. |
Daburcor? 20.03.2004 16:08 |
"I don't know the other person you mentioned, but I know from experience that cancer is terrible. You wouldn't wish it upon your worst enemy. Umm I think that's a dutch expression but you know what I mean." I know what you mean, My recently departed aunt suffered from cancer for as long as I can remember, And I witnessed a lot of what the disease can do to you. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy either, Nor his/her best friend. |
dragonzflame 20.03.2004 22:34 |
We use that expression too. |
SallyJ. 21.03.2004 07:32 |
oh ok thanks :) it just sounded a bit weird I thought hehe |

He's BACK! Check this great entry from Saturday... ---------- **Sat 20 Mar 04** PARASITE STRIKES AT MY HOME I would suppose anybody who has more than half a brain cell knows that we work late and need our sleep in the mornings. But some people don't get it, or don't care. I was woken up horribly early this morning by some lowlife reporter from the scummy News of the World leaning on the buzzer at our house. "We have pictures of you emerging from ....." He got a quiet "goodbye" from me before I put the entryphone down. But when he came back 20 minutes later just when I was getting back to sleep, and started the same thing all over again, he got a much less pleasant reply from me. And next time he'll get a bucket of cold water over his head too. Maybe he's new to his tawdry game. He should know that no-one ever got a quote from us by invading our privacy. And if he was smart enough to read BrianMay.com he would have known the story anyway! Right ?! I hate these dumb-asses. Just to know his finger was on my door-bell makes me want to disinfect it. B ---------- LMAO! Fantastic stuff. You gotta love it! Peace, Adam. |
Daburcor? 21.03.2004 08:19 |
I thought that was quite funny as well! :D |
Penis - Vagina 21.03.2004 21:56 |
link A copy of the Mirror's wonderful story as well as more comments from Brian. Incidently those previous comments are what I was refering to before, but I observed the 'not to be republished without prior permission request' :-P |
dragonzflame 22.03.2004 03:52 |
I can understand how he was pissed at the reporter, but I get rather tired of hearing his whinges about the press. Granted, much of the press in Britain is scummy privacy invasion, but he doesn't seem to get that these people are a)just trying to do their jobs and b)he wouldn't be famous were it not for them. He chose to follow the path of music; if he'd gone with astronomy he wouldn't need to worry about the press (although we'd all be worse off for it!). I like to give people the benefit of the doubt; I like to think that the journo was told to go there by the editor, rang them to say he couldn't get a quote from B, and was told that he was in the shit if he didn't try again. It's really lame having to go find people to give you quotes knowing that they hate your guts before they even see your face. |
iGSM 22.03.2004 04:45 |
That's why Brian should have lasers installed in his front yard..to keep Roger away. |
Adam Baboolal 22.03.2004 07:57 |
"but he doesn't seem to get that these people are a)just trying to do their jobs and b)he wouldn't be famous were it not for them." Well, a) Brian notes "Maybe he's new to his tawdry game. He should know that no-one ever got a quote from us by invading our privacy." So he should do some research on his subject's possible reaction... And b) I always thought it was the fans that made bands famous. :P Peace, Adam. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 22.03.2004 20:32 |
"I always thought it was the fans that made bands famous. :P" LOL, Adam. I see Dragonzflame point, but IMHO he went a little too far in his assumptions. |
Krizzy 22.03.2004 20:36 |
Ahhh the British media...how they love to hate BM and Queen...of course they are vultures...that's what Murdoch likes...that and TITS on page 3 of The Sun...MAN! LOL! BTW Get Well Soon, Dr. May! Kriz ;o) |
SallyJ. 22.03.2004 21:10 |
Stupid tabloids...they have a vivid imagination, they always have their info wrong! How do they do that?? But it's good to see Brian angry with them again, it means he's OK ;)) |
dragonzflame 22.03.2004 22:25 |
>I see Dragonzflame point, but IMHO he went a little too far in his assumptions Or perhaps SHE went a little too far in HER assumptions. ;-p Certainly they could have gone about it better, but I still think he was being a tad rough on the reporter. And I disagree that it's the fans who make a band famous - obviously they play their important roles but it's still the media who give them the exposure, positive or negative. A lot of people first hear about bands through the media. |
NoOneButYou1975 22.03.2004 22:27 |
A lot of people first hear about bands through the media. or word of mouth |
geeksandgeeks 23.03.2004 15:34 |
Speaking of the media, why am I always the last one to hear about these things? |
Penis - Vagina 23.03.2004 15:55 |
I find it enlightening that Brian is so accessible to fans and probably media too.. if they would go the proper route. It's amazing that we get to read what amounts to Brian's personal journal on an almost daily basis, and that it's relatively easy to get a fast personal reply from someone like him. I think the tabloid scum 'press' there is going this route of invading his privacy on purpose.. they sneak around, take candid photos and confront him at the most inappropriate times on purpose so they can claim that they tried to contact him directly and then write their trash. It's a sick little game and they're only playing with themselves. Perhaps it's time they grow up and learn how to properly interact with intelligent adults. |
Adam Baboolal 23.03.2004 20:18 |
"but I still think he was being a tad rough on the reporter." Eh? Where in Brian's reply does he tell us what he actually did? "And I disagree that it's the fans who make a band famous - obviously they play their important roles but it's still the media who give them the exposure, positive or negative. A lot of people first hear about bands through the media." I became a fan of the band Yes back in 2000 through my brother and his friends. But in the last 4 years, I've never heard anything of these extremely talented individuals in the media. A couple of times on BBC4! But that was all. And just because some bands feed off the media doesn't make them. What makes them is the love from the fans. Look at the Spice Girls. Nobody wants to know. Yet, the media frenzy they had surely brought about tons of fans. But where are they now? It's just not that simple. Peace, Adam. |
Oberon 24.03.2004 07:29 |
I have never quite understood why some people don't see why "celebrities" get annoyed by having their privacy invaded. Sure, celebs use the press to their advantage for publicity etc, but I don't see why this should give the press carte blanc to invade the personal space of a celeb - or anyone who has exposure for any reason (i.e a famous doctor, lawyer etc). There should be laws and the press should be made to make "appointments" via the celeb or the celeb's representatives. They should not be allowed to hang around outside houses waiting for a picture, or restaurants etc. If I hung around outside Brian's house day after day looking to get a picture or whatever in a way that annoys him, I would expect him or take out an court order to prevent me. The concept of a stalker. Some press seem to me to be professional stalkers. Of course some "celebs" engineer their own press encounters by leaking their movements, but in general, I think celebs would welcome some more laws to control the media. |
Krizzy 24.03.2004 12:45 |
You can try all you like to try and control what the media puts out but the issue of Freedom of Speech and Press comes up everytime. Brian is a celebrity and as a celebrity certain issues come up like being a public personality. It's a sad fact that the media in the UK can be so brazen but then they are also brazen here in the US as well. As a freelance writer myself I have seen colleagues of mine who are in TV or newspapers/print media go a little far and feel quite comfortable about it. The laws for "public" persons favor the media. Let's take an extreme case like the tragic death of Lady Diana, even then was the media held responsible, even slightly? Celebrities today if they are unable to deal with the "goldfish" bowl like atmosphere usual result in case after case of libel and slander. As a responsible writer myself, I feel journalism in its best and most creative form be it media or written word has suffered under the corporate take over of the industry. Just like Music and TV, newspapers and other print media have stooped to an all-time low, even respected mags like Newsweek and Time have used shock tactics to get much needed circulation at the expense of decent and responsible journalism. Somehow and quite ironically the musical Queen has put together with Ben Elton is unfortunately becoming true, I hope not to be around when this world becomes one big corporation where even free thinking is outlawed. Be afraid celebs and non-celebs alike!!! Kriz ;o) |

Bloody British press, i'm fed up with it...and i haven't even read all the posts on here! why don't they just leave people alone..... *ranting over* |
The Real Wizard 24.03.2004 14:44 |
Excellent post Oberon, and a great idea. It probably wouldn't happen though, because the tabloids would lose a hell of a lot of money out of it - which brings me to my next point: "they sneak around, take candid photos and confront him at the most inappropriate times on purpose so they can claim that they tried to contact him directly and then write their trash. It's a sick little game and they're only playing with themselves. Perhaps it's time they grow up and learn how to properly interact with intelligent adults." Most people are sheep, and are interested in gossip, even if they know the information presented may not be the truth. The sales of tabloids show it. The lives of far too many people are empty to the point where celebrity gossip is the subject that excites them the most. As long as people buy crap, other people will keep manufacturing crap. That goes for a loooooooot of subjects in today's society. "Sail away sweet cyst-er." lol BB... |
dragonzflame 24.03.2004 17:17 |
I feel bound to point out that I, too, work in the media and would never dream of invading someone's privacy like that. I'd also liket o think of yself as a "responsible writer" - it's those who get to interview the person again, and it's lovely when people say nice things to you about something you've written about them. |
Flashman 24.03.2004 17:21 |
dragonzflame - I'd just like to say Thankyou for that nice thing that you wrote about me that time. More of the same, please! |
Penis - Vagina 24.03.2004 20:41 |

Big Black, I stole your pun for the subject line of an email to Brian, hope you don't mind.. I told him it was from a message board but didn't credit you directly.. so if it gets published at the site please don't hate me! ;) |
ploughman 25.03.2004 05:32 |
That's a GREAT NEWS! Bearing in mind that 90% of the lumps aren't dangerous. Tabloids just make such a fuss about things.. |

oops sorry Mr Flashman that'll teach me for not reading prior posts, still if Dark did buy it he could at least claim to have some of Brian's talent on his little finger |
