Yesterday I've bought the last album to complete my CD collection. To be honest, I don't like the soundtracks at all but as a real fan, you want your collection to be complete. While listening to the CD I heard a lot of non Queen-instrumental sounds, like synthesisers etc. Did Queen make these sounds by themselves? Or had they support from other sound engineers. Had anybody ever saw the film? I consider to watch it soon. Let me now if it's worth to spend my time with watching the movie. |

What album did you just buy - Flush Garden?:) |
iGSM 16.03.2004 03:44 |
heh, it's a laugh. I liked it but because of it's very comical effects..and Max von Sydow too. But it's good to hear Queen...and one of the Hawkmen says 'Who wants to live forever!?' so it's all good. :) |
siljeoen 16.03.2004 04:54 |
i like it!!:) |

Mitti 16.03.2004 05:28 |
Maybe if it's not 'your' album, just play it and do something else (at the same time, but in the same room!:P) Maybe the songs are to much the same for you... (You have to admid that that wedding march is cool?) |
Oberon 16.03.2004 08:23 |
I think the whole album is by Queen. can't remember if there is any incidental music in the film not by them. I remember some clips of Brian saying that they recorded at least some of it while watching the movie on a big screen in the "old fashioned way". I like the album as you can listen to it and actually visualise the movie as you go (once you've seen it of course!!!). I like the film too, although it's obviously dated etc. Check out Brian's soundtrack to a film called Furia. Haven't seen the film. it's by a French director and I think it's only been released over there. It's a shame because the music's good and Brian has said he loved the film (which is why he did the soundtrack). Here's a link to amazon.com: link. Hope that came out ok. |

Hey FLash Gordon it's not that bad, there are some really good songs on it. |
Nuno 16.03.2004 08:36 |
99.9% sure Queen recorded the whole album The Hero is one of my fave Queen Songs ever - it rocks Some great instrumentals on that album Goes to show the boys can do that side of things and not jut the songs (lyrics and all) Just like Furia - some great stuff on that |
Fenderek 16.03.2004 09:01 |
Some stuff is good (The Hero, Wedding March, Battle Theme, Vultan's Theme, Football Fight), some stuff is absolutely great (The Kiss) and the rest... I don't really like... Sorry, but can't honestly stand something like The Ring, just can't... |
Bob The Shrek 16.03.2004 09:26 |
"....but as a real fan, you want your collection to be complete." I am obviously not a real fan then. |
Joma 16.03.2004 09:53 |
It's great! The Kiss - a real Freddie song! And the rockers Battle Theme and The Hero are fantastic. And a REAL Brian classic with The Wedding March. Who else could play that? |
The Mir@cle 16.03.2004 10:06 |
I thank you all for your answers. Well, maybe I have to listen to it a few times more to see beauty of it. I will surely listen to The Hero, yesterday I don't came so far (it's the last track, isn't it?). Bob The Shrek.. You may not own all the albums, but you've posted more than 2000 messages more than I did, so to me you're a real fan!! |
The Fairy King 16.03.2004 10:07 |
it's kinda lame but it has one of the best Queen songs ever: The Hero and The Wedding March too |
mogge 16.03.2004 10:11 |
I like the album! "Football Fight" and "The Hero" are awesome. I recommend you to watch the movie. It's part of your education. :) |
fairy_mercury 16.03.2004 10:12 |
funny that because flash gorden is all i need to complete my collection and i have been debating wether or not it's worth it (yes all Queen songs/albums etc should be worth it i know)...and it sounds like there's some good stuff on there so i will probably buy it in the near future ;D |
RMT 16.03.2004 10:58 |
This was the first Queen album I ever had back in 1986. I love 'The Hero' and when taken in context it's a brilliant piece of work. You can see the others got bored and left Brian too it though! I might even go and put it on now, I haven't heard it in ages! |

I quite like the soundtrack. The movie is really good for some laughs, too. ;^) |
Saffron Caribou 16.03.2004 20:14 |
Oh I thought this was about that bad porn film 'Flesh Gordon'. And no, no Queen songs in that film. Although it would've been interesting none of the less. |
Daburcor? 16.03.2004 20:17 |
"The movie is really good for some laughs, too. ;^)" What are your top 3 funny moments in that flick? Here are mine: 1.Every time Vultan says "DIIIIIIVE!!!" 2.Flash getting hit in the head with the steel ball thingy. 3.Tim Dalton's costume. ;) |
deleted user 16.03.2004 22:38 |
1. Any time Vultan comes on the screen 2. The acting 3. The idea that a football player can save the world. My sister and I have a show called "Amanda & Caroline At the Cinema" and that was one of the movies that we, uh, viewed...or critiqued. ;^) |

You'll have to have me on as a guest critic sometime. I'm like those two old muppets that sit in the balcony on the muppet show when I see a bad movie. ;) |

I just like Flash, The Hero, Football fight and the Wedding March, don't know why |
jorge 16.03.2004 23:47 |
"What are your top 3 funny moments in that flick?" All that sh*t (sorry "movie") I wonder how many prizes of the academy will it have won? I hope don't see that crap again The only good of the movie is the intro and the credits |
Penis - Vagina 16.03.2004 23:54 |
I had the vinyl version and then the Hollywood remaster years ago but it was the first to go when I started selling things. I suppose this time around it'll be the last I buy.. the new Japanese card sleeve, just so I'll have all of those. I like Flash's theme but I prefer the single mix. The intro on the album is cool though. Perhaps a special edit is in order there :) And I like 'The Hero' and 'Wedding March' okay I suppose but the rest just doesn't make for pleasant album-listening IMO. The movie is silly, sort of fun if you're in the right mood. I haven't desired to see it in 10 years or so though :-P |
Saffron Caribou 16.03.2004 23:56 |
I still prefer 'Flesh Gordon' it was intentionally funny. :D |
jorge 17.03.2004 00:00 |
Flash Gordon was intentionally funny? That it's a comedy, Right? |
The Fairy King 17.03.2004 04:17 |
i love the movie,i love Max Von Sydow and I LOVE ORNELLA MUTI *drool* [/naughtymode] |
goinback 17.03.2004 05:01 |
They should have released "The Hero" as a single IMHO.... Why release an entire album with only one single?!? |
Oberon 17.03.2004 08:58 |
I guess they didn't release many singles 'cause it was a true soundtrack album afterall. And it came along at the same time as the Game, and Hot Space was soon after so there wasn't a gap to fill by releasing loads of singles. The album kinda stands aside from everything else because it is a soundtrack. i agree though that The Hero could have been released as a single, but that and Flash is about all that could |
The Mir@cle 19.03.2004 07:44 |
"99.9% sure Queen recorded the whole album" I don't know if I'm right, but track 8 (The Kiss) contains violin music and bladder instruments. Did Queen play these instruments ass well?? |
deleted user 19.03.2004 08:06 |
'What are your top 3 funny moments in that flick?' I don't know about three, but I'll try.... "Flash I love you....but we only have 14 hours to save the earth.." "For God's sakes, strap yourselves down!" that'a the best I could do. |
RainMustFall 19.03.2004 09:05 |
Jeeze, The Mir@cle, I haven't gotten the soundtrack yet, but the violin must not have been played THAT badly! |
iGSM 19.03.2004 09:34 |
<<. And a REAL Brian classic with The Wedding March. Who else could play that?>> Me. |
The Real Wizard 20.03.2004 00:16 |
"And a REAL Brian classic with The Wedding March. Who else could play that?" I'm sure there are many. It's not difficult; it's just multitracking. You can reproduce it all you want, but nobody can deny that Brian was the first to use this style of multitracking to such extents. Also, what makes it even more special is his tone. Again, one can reproduce it all he wants with a Red Special replica or similar, but nobody before Brian had anything even close to such a tone, or such a versatility of tones all coming from a single guitar. |
Iam the one 20.03.2004 01:41 |
Oh,rember buying that record,it was just to complete the colection of Queen records..it's sounds like my ass..its a crapy record! |
bolan 20.03.2004 06:26 |
Not too bad an album but the viewers of the web-site link did vote it the worst queen album and greatest hits the best. The special effects in the film are piss-poor and the story-line-well... |
Big Black 20.03.2004 11:32 |
Speaking of Brian's tone, Guitar Hero, what type of guitar did you use on your Brighton Rock solo? It sounds very Brian like. |
The Real Wizard 20.03.2004 13:55 |
It's simply an Epiphone Les Paul going through a standard Fender 60-watt amp. I used a quarter as a pick for that Brighton Rock piece, and this 3-piece combination bears quite a resemblance to Brian's tone. Without a quarter, it can sound Jimmy Page's as well, if I'm playing in a Zeppelin style. I really got lucky with this setup, as it wasn't my intention to sound like either of these legends! |
jeff payne 1680 20.03.2004 14:21 |
And former Blue peter presenter Andy Duncan getting killed by that thing in the tree stump and hey would be worth remastering in dvd a for 5.1 dts etc |
